Welp, now we are back on the playoff wagon. The Bears are back and what a mess they have going into 2021. The NFL will have to get creative on the CAP because there will be a plethora of teams that cannot make it at the forecasted numbers. Whatever happens, I hope they find a way to keep Mitch around for 1-2 more years until they can groom a replacement.
-
Bilal, sorry I was wrong on this comment. You sir are a force.
-
Now that it is a need, they better not end up with Chris Williams and Gabe Carimi 2.0. I hope they mix in a DT in the first 3 rounds too. The drop off after losing Hicks is huge and Goldmans absence was noticed too. I thought Bilal Nichols would become that Hicks clone, he is nice rotation but not a force. A 2nd or 3rd RD DT could help the pass rush.

I could go back to back. Seems like a solid OT draft this year too. Too bad we are at that option.
-
I think GB wants Will Fuller, tried trading for him. That would be a deadly with Adam's.

MT could have been worthy if Nagy didn't install his version 2.0. He looked good last week for most of the game and again today. Looks like we have a RB too, who would have known because they never ran the ball until recently. Since next years gonna be cap disaster for most of the league, players might agree on a year 1 pay cut like Robinson if year two and on make it up. See if MT can be signed modestly like a 2 year deal and give it one more shot but address the Oline and DLine. Oh, and my mind will change if they fall off the tracks again today

If the Bears do decide to make a change, I am all for giving Toub his due at HC or the temptation for NW HC Fitzgerald and get a GM that holds value in the damn draft instead of constantly moving up. A GM that knows if you don't have good tires, you cannot get traction to go fast or control your vehicle (O/D lines). Use the draft to increase that capital by trading down to teams that have conviction because most likely that slot busts in the first 4 years. Pace has done well in places but lacks in some of the major areas and it shows. I am on board if you cannot draft a QB, OLT, DE, or CB in round one, trade down or out.

I agree Trubisky hasn't grasped much in 4 years. I just hate how the media hangs Trubisky non stop but gives every excuse for Foles. First Foles had to knock the rust off, then it became his oline was bad, then it was the play calling. You cannot become good or elite without a good line to give you time, good play calling, and good routes and hands. You will never gain the experience or confidence to get there.
-
Im seeing this stuff all over again, but where were these breakdowns when Foles was making the same mistakes? Was he sound on mechanics, oh but then it was the olines fault. It is a fed narrative. Sure he makes mistakes and freezing frames helps his point but unless you get a chosen QB, you have to put up with this.

The Bears salary window is now closed, so they will most likely need to re-build the D too. If the Bears decide to continue with this core, which means moving cap and tighten future windows, they might become a wildcard contender. Can they draft a QB if they get into the top 10 and maybe land LT/RT in RD2 and then find a G/C rd 3? All possible, but it will leave a hole at one of the OT spots and defensive line. Teddy and Mikey will have to think about the options. Sure wish Pace didn't miss as much as he has early in the drafts.
-
This. Putting a young QB behind a bad line is the best way to ruin him. Get the oline set first. If it means missing out on that mid-1st rd QB so be it. Unless Pace finds that conviction again, then trade up ? If they can upgrade the oline to top 10 level, Foles and Trubisky might be good enough to carry the team another year and allow them to trade up like KC was able to with Smith under center.
-
He will arrive Sunday night ? In reality, they will have to pull that trigger in the 1st rd. Lowering the chance on finding a legit LT. I would like to get the oline solid before adding a QB prospect. Odds of the Bears firing coach and GM are slim. Nagy has 2 years left, Pace is up after next season. Give Mitch a 2 year prove it deal and hope Foles sticks around and Nagy/Pace either survive or not with their choices.

For the heck of it....an early look at a mock draft. TEAM PICKS 16: R1 P16 OT Samuel Cosmi - Texas 48: R2 P16 OT Alaric Jackson - Iowa 79: R3 P15 DL Christian Barmore - Alabama 157: R5 P16 S James Wiggins - Cincinnati 194: R6 P15 WR Marquez Stevenson - Houston 216: R6 P37 RB Brian Robinson Jr. - Alabama 220: R6 P41 CB DJ Daniel - Georgia 227: R7 P5 LB Tuf Borland - Ohio State I like this one more. They left out 2 6th rd comp picks, so figure a CB and S can be had. Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 16: Dillon Radunz, OT, North Dakota State (B-) Round 2 Pick 16: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan (B+) Round 3 Pick 15: Tedarrell Slaton, DT, Florida (A+) Round 5 Pick 16: Jaret Patterson, RB, Buffalo (A+) Round 6 Pick 16: Cade Johnson, WR, South Dakota State (A+) Round 7 Pick 8: Sam Ehlinger, QB, Texas (A+)

And then instead of trading up for WR Miller, taken Orlando Brown Jr for RT. 1st RD - Mike McGlinchey. LT 2nd RD - James Daniel's C/G 3rd RD - Orlando Brown Jr RT We would be better by a milestone.
-
True, all the talking heads were saying the Bears only started Trubusky because of Pace and now that he got pulled we will see how this offense is supposed to be ran. What excuse did we hear from the same talking heads after the garbage Foles brought, let's blame the oline. Maybe Trubisky could have been the QB we wanted if they would have invested in the oline instead of Roquan. Mike McGlinchey was taken immediately after. Love Roquan, but LTs are rare and a must even if they just extended Leno.
-
Trubisky is probably counting down the days to get out of dodge and hopes to avoid any more injury. Belichick will pluck him from FA and turn him into a solid 10 yr QB.
-
A genius would have known how good the D was and created a ball control run offense. Instead Nagys early years of designing this Frankenstein offense had to be used now because it was his life's work and his path to fame. It could have been the greatest thing we have ever seen, but it was built with scraps. If he had patience to modify his work to fit what parts he had he could have built a monster that transformed into his vision over time. Now he will have to choose what to disgard of because he cannot afford all the pieces next year.
-
It was in his best interest. The team is at the crossroads and failure would fall squarely on him if he refused to change. Now he can shed some light either way the team goes. They need this game more than anything.
-
I am glad he finally released the reins of playcalling. Like a young QB, sometimes holding the clip board and watching helps you grow. If the offense finds rhythm, great. Not saying they have to play like all-stars, but look like an NFL unit. They have enough games to build upon and if Foles can look the part, it would be great to see the early picks go to rebuilding the line.
-
They could do that, but it could possible have the lame coach effect. Wipe the slate clean unless the new GM wants the coach. They will have to go through an overhaul again. Try trading older players for draft capital, build you front lines first and find your key position leaders (which on D, I think we are good with Roquan and EJackson) On O, need the QB and good chance a WR.
-
What new GM would want to be forced to keep a coach? That has been a major problem with this organization. If one goes they both go, imo. If that happens, work fast to get a new GM in to get his coaches, scouts, etc so they can build the team in their mold.
-
It has been argued numerous times the oline needs to be addressed often. Even though it was encouraging to see Whitehair and Daniel's develop, that was not enough. Not sure how they can pull it off now that they need a QB. Gonna need another #1 WR the way it looks and Montgomery is not a bellcow. There is a ton of pieces needed.
