I'm trying hard to remember the stud edge rusher that Fangio had in SF and besides Aldon Smith, I'm stomped! It seems like we are trying to mix the Denver defense under Fox with the 49er defense under Fangio. Not a bad idea but, I believe different approaches that would have to be combined.

With the injury history of the Bears top 3 WRs looking at WRs is not farfetched and a couple of our division rivals are in the market for a WR so why not gamesmanship in that regard.Of the two names mention Treadwell and Coleman, Coleman makes more since in a trade back scenario because of his speed.

Agreed and he faced double teams every play because he was the targeted defensive player at Va Tech. I too like him as an OLB and in several of my own mocks have him picked by the Bears at 185.

Using your trade I would go at it like this: 19 William Jackson CB Houston- Speed ,size and skilled 41 Jason Spriggs OT Indiana-Rising prospect that supplies a need and competition 72 Austin Hopper Te Stanford-This pick is contingent on if the offer sheet to Hill doesn't go through. Alt pick Charles Tapper DE Oklahoma would offer scheme versatility and ran a 4.5 at 271 pounds 80 Jalen Smith OLB ND Why not take a gamble here on this player who if healthy is a first round talent 106 Dak Prescott QB Miss Need to really get a developmental prospect at the position 117 Braylon Addison WR Oregon versatile wr/kr prospect with the thinking Pharoah Cooper will be off the board earlier than our 72 pick 127 Spencer Drango OG Baylor depth and youth pick for the OL interior to push DuCasse and learn behind 2 solid vets 150 Jayron Kearse SS Clemson adding more youth to the back end and more scheme versatility with the size to play some LB 185 Dadi Nicolas OLB Va Tech Had an underwhelming season but faced multiple double teams and has the ability recapture his production facing less focus on the next level 230 Derek Watt FB Wisconsin The Bears new OC in his previous stint as an OC liked using a lead blocker and 1 back formations. This prospect is not only a good blocker but also is good receiving out of the backfield.

Everyone keep in mind that this is me using those big boards and not the sites' actual mocks. Basing it on the Bears draft position and these players rankings on each board.

Agreed and Jimmy Graham was there prior to that with Cooks and Colston in the mix not enough balls to go around.

Moon's post seems a little dated because there is no mention of Hicks in it. WTBS in a deep DL draft and we have decent depth and youth on the DL, edge rusher, OT and CB are in play IMO!
-
I would believe it would be better if the team trading for him would want to negotiate the contract with Jeffery for better cap management because if the Bears signed him, that big signing bonus would be do immediately.
-
I agree, there seems to be a real inflated view of his talents from some scouts and a real critical view from others. I still wonder why two other QBs started before him at Ohio State and why he couldn't keep the position last year after being the starter. That points toward developmental to me which is not a 2nd round pick.

Did this team cut ties with DuCasse? If so is there a chance that they bring him back to play a swing OG backup role? What does Becton bring to the table? He is currently on the roster listed at OG. Who is Cornelius Edison listed as a center on the roster and what does he bring to the table besides a lower salary than Montgomery? They are the same height and Edison is listed 5 pounds lighter than Grassu.

Reading all the posts confuses me a little because there seems to be more angst about losing Marshall and Bennett than there is about losing Forte, for years a focal point and big % of the offense with both BM and MB here, who was drafted and developed by this franchise while the other two players were passing through so to speak. I understand why all are gone but, don't share the same loyalty to other teams castoffs that came here vs one that came up through this franchise and showed nothing but class and dignity and even with his recent comments about not getting an offer still took the high road. The only more uncomfortable exit for a running back in this franchise's history was Neal Anderson, following reports that his dad had allegedly murdered his girlfriend. The top 3 RBs in my viewing of Bears football that dates back to 1966 are Payton, Sayers and Forte! Just think we could be the Lions who have the RB franchise leader in yards retire after 9 years and the WR yardage leader retire after 9 years! It must really suck to play in Detroit!

Outstanding post! I agree with you 100%!

So help me understand this! Resigning Rogers with his ability to pick up blitzing LBs as one of the things that he does well and has pass catching ability also he is a veteran that can tutor the 2 young backs, so why the love for FA RBs? Someone is not in favor on this roster and its going to play out real soon.

I like your spin and my bad on numbering the picks just being lazy.Every since the comp picks were figured I've been screwed up.
-
Just asking doesn't the league mandate you spend up a certain % of the cap by a certain time of the year which is why you see contract extensions in Oct. and early Nov.?
-
My thoughts exactly and I like the thought of bring a guy in day 3 in the draft to be an H-Back type TE.
-
That part I know but to this point he has made no impact whatsoever and Willie Young and Lamar Houston also play the same position and IMO Pernell McPhee is an OLB playing DE , thinking that is the reason why he is getting injured a lot. This is not a real big guy and the recent additions plus Goldman, Onrein, Sutton and Ferguson could make PMack a rush specialist.
-
Imo Stanley is a wildcard in the top 20 and if there is a run on defense he could be there. I reposted on my mock thread an updated version with a trade scenario. Unchartered waters for this old soldier who never did a mock with trades! Check it out and take me to the wood shed if you have to. lol
-
First of all he has been in the league 3 years now and that was an edited youtube video that showed nothing that makes me think he could move to the outside and become a disruptive force like Von Miller, Clay Mathews, Terrell Suggs, DeMarcus Ware...etc. After the recent moves we have made that's the missing piece imo Willie Young this year could step up in that role but another guy that scares the crap out of the opponents is needed not a lets see if he can blossom in this spot guy like Jones and Shea and back in the day John Thierry!
-
That makes me like the signing even more!
-
Bal and NYG are the 2 teams very hard to gauge when you draft behind them because they usually go BPA even if its not a need.
-
AG but he has been scouted by 32 teams' scouts and went undrafted and besides you don't think Fangio is the reason Timu saw the field and Trevathan and Freeman were brought in at the same position?
