I decided to start a thread where we can discuss everyone's fantasy about what Kevin White brings to the Bears offense. The reason why I used the word fantasy is because he is being projected into a role that he has yet to to actually perform in. Projection, prediction and fantasy are all similar terms when it comes to sports(imo). When the Bears picked White I was extremely happy as much as I was when Jeffrey was drafted in the second round. WTBS Jeffrey struggled in his first season with injury and conditioning and White played 1 year at division 1 before getting drafted by the Bears and the scouting reports say he was only asked to run a couple of routes. Hopefully Adam Gases offense is a little more complicated than that and if he hasn't been on the practice field to try and translate what is on his team issued tablet how can anyone know what he can do?

Alshon yes, White no! We have no idea what White can do in this offense because he hasn't practiced or played in it. If you take two wrs from WVa recently drafted Austin and Bailey both on the Rams one (Austin) was an early first rounder how is he doing? There is something to be said about receivers from spread offenses having trouble transitioning in the NFL. I'm just wondering why I'm being ask to explain the fact that if you have never seen a player practice or play for a team, how can you know his abilties. I think that's a no brainer.
-
If saying that Alshon and White that this is a totally different offense is not then we'll have to agree to disagree.

This is the post right here!

I'm not sure what you were trying to go with this thread but the stats you posted and the names you mentioned are not HOFers NFL or Bears.
-
Its too early to do any projections with this team because we don't know if a trade or injury will occur.

It amazes me that I keep seeing post that include White as a reason this offense is not clicking on all cylinders, Kevin White has not played a down preseason or regular season for the Bears and according to most draft scouts was an upside type player because of his lack of time against division I competition and playing in West VA's spread offense, meaning he would need coaching up on route running etc. Why is his name being constantly mentioned when he hasn't practiced much or played any downs for for this team? When I was at Bourbonaiss he might as well have been in a folding chair next to me. Please don't make him an excuse for poor execution by the players who have gone through a whole TC and can't get open and are still on the roster. Example Mariani he adds nothing offensively and routinely makes no KO returns and makes a mistake per game on punt returns that has the offense starting deep all 4 games. Since he can't offer anything on offense why does he still have a roster spot?

Sam Acho seems like a fit for this scheme and Amos is playing solid as a rookie at safety. He tackles better than most of the guys that preceded him after Mike Brown. He and Goldman seem like to draft picks that may be good building blocks. The fact that Grasu was not active when Montgomery got hurt bothers me.

Chitown I hate feeling this way but I love being honest with myself and this is 1969 bad when the team went 1 and 13 and lost the coin flip for Terry Bradshaw.
-
Jared Allen was not a scheme fit and is an awesome MAN off the field for his work with building homes for veterans that have been wounded in combat. Good Luck Jared! There is a lot of Army bases in Carolina and maybe Chico can find a solid role for you.
-
Jason you and I have posted on two boards about the Bears for years and I have never been more pessimistic than I am now and I know you would call me out if I am not being honest. This team can only play 1 half and that's it.
-
No I'm not because even though White was a top pick his resume was a little sketchy when it came to level of competition and route running because of his college career and the fact that he has not played a down for this team in the preseason or regular season and when I went to Bourbonais he was standing on the sidelines in shorts

The Raiders are 2 and 1 and we are 0 and 3. I cannot think that we have an advantage even if Cutler is back because the penalties and sometimes bad play calls and execution by players on defense lead me to believe that the Raiders should be favored even though the game is in Chicago.
-
I'm getting confused by posters on this board and the media saying that White is out as well as Jeffrey when White has never played a down preseason or regular season for the Bears so why is he being something we miss when he has never been on this team?
-
Claussen is 1-12 in 13 starts and 0-2 with the Bears. I'm glad their playing him and Vereen and all the roster that is active because they need to see who is going to be on this roster going forward and who is going to quit on them. As far as the defense go I would like to see more Sam Acho and less Jared Allen. Brock Vereen needs to be looking for another profession and Fuller and Ball both looked better this week. I hope Sutton's injury is not serious and I like the fact that both sides of the ball got chippy with Seattle.
-
Listening to Kyle Long talk about the failed trip in the red zone on AM1000,he pretty much took the blame for the 4th down play saying he missed a blitz pick up and Cutler had to get rid of the ball quicker than he wanted to. I did like the fact that Cutler took off and ran a couple of times for positive yards.
-
I don't recall him having many opportunities to return kicks because most of the kickoffs by the packers were touch backs.
-
Fox enthusiastically clapping and greeting players as they came off the field was all I needed to see. It was a refreshing change from the librarian on the sidelines last year. In the green bay's talent won out over the Bears talent.

On Aug 5th I was at TC and what I saw then and what I'm seeing now is the same. Injuries, poor execution and very unimaginitive play calling. I saw the team continue to work on the underneath routes and feel like this is an offense made for Marty B. The running plays seemed to be all between the tackles and the o-line was getting manhandled by our d-line. At that time the only bright spots I saw was the blocking of Rodgers and Langford. For the first time in my 49 years of watching Bears football I am totally bummed about the upcoming season and that takes a lot for me to feel this way.

McClellin was a pleasant surprise as well as the secondary. I liked how Acho #49 was bringing the pass rush also.

There is some solid competition going on in 2 spots for sure. One is Kick returner and the other is in the secondary. The rest of the positions look like they have an idea who the opening day starters are.
