With the multiple amount of injuries this season I hope there is a major focus on upgrading the depth of this team so "The Next Man Up" mentality can have some validity.
-
The biggest reason for patience is he may be the featured back next year if Forte walks.

We used to have arguably the best return man in the history of the league and now we have a guy that is absolutely no threat to the opposing team, while every game there is a big return for a TD against the Bears. Not only should Mariani be cut but, the special teams coordinator should be getting a pink slip also.

I'm seeing a lot of comments about getting a safety in the draft and I hope that is to pair with Amos who is quietly imo playin the best in the secondary and showing AARP Rolle the door if its cap friendly.

The bye week is when most tweaks happen and I am very interested to see what a no nonsense staff does to adjust going forward.

Really interesting read on Ratliff's blow up last year

How far back do you go? Honestly not sarcasm. 69 thru 76 sucked and in that span we lost the coin flip with the Steelers for Terry Bradshaw and wound up with Bobby Douglass. 80 thru 82 was just as awful leading to the Ditka hiring and the run of our lives until his dismissal in 92. 93 until 2003 yielded 2 playoff teams, so more suckage. Since 2003, is it 3 playoff appearances under Lovie with the NFC Championship Game being the the last one in 2010? In the last 40 years there have been some bad years throughout just pick one. -
I thought the pick was a solid pick and really don't get the fact that he has been inactive as the only backup center. I understand the whole strength and point of attack negatives but that should have been found out on film before he was drafted or during minicamps, and OTAs before he got to TC so that he would know where he needs to improve.

With a lot of teams running some read-option looks, pistol and shotgun including the Bears what is a pro-style offense now? Most of these teams don't go under center until short yardage or goal line situations. I have seen this year Forte split out wide with Cutler in the backfield alone. Why is that not considered "Spread"?

Sc I also want to ask you about both Goff and Kessler are California guys. How do you project them in this area in the bad weather? BTW what is Kessler's height? How has USC QBS fared in the NFL?
-
Sc I new you and I could do this. Answer me this if Russell Wilson, RG III,Colin Kapernick, Tyrod Taylor and Michael Vick are starting QBs in the NFL why not Boykin? He has surpassed most of Andy Dalton's records at TCU who is currently a staring QB in the NFL.
-
DBDB I hear ya but 2 rounds later makes you a redshirt when you were coached by the same people? I think something else is in the mix that we don't know about!
-
I agree. He was out of position a lot on Sunday.
-
Iwas out of line ! My bad I need more fiber!
-
What has Heyward -Bey done in the NFL? The same as Kevin White IMO. Nothing!
-
I disagree with the Kruetz analogy because Grasu came from the same school that produced Kyle Long. Why was Long ready on day one and not Grasu?
-
Right now I like Cook and Boykin better.
-
Currently they have the Bears in the 2nd draft position and one "expert" has them taking Ole Miss DT Nkemdiche and the other "expert has them taking Cal QB Goff.I'm not sure I like either scenario.

Chitown I hope you don't think I'm tryin' to bust your chops but when you look at someone's physical makeup and try to project it in the NFL its a crap shot. The operative word for Whit is IF! Again I will say that he has been in JC a couple of years before going to WVA. Kevin White IMO is a project like Darius Heyward-Bey! My biggest concern is Jeffery who can throw out a first pitch at a Cub game but can't practice at Halas Hall!

If true this is condemning the pick. That would make it JA like who did very well on mid-round picks but sucked at early round picks.

Considering that Slasson hasn't played center much in his career he did a nice job on short notice with one bad snap and one bad exchange. Charles Leno Jr wasn't a train wreck at left tackle and Omameh wasn't awful either. Kyle Long and Ducasse seem to be settling in on the right side. Going forward I hope our 3rd round draft pick is ready to start his career since Montgomery has a broken bone in his leg( tibia?) which is an extended period injury and may signal the start of the Grasu era, if not Slausson seemed okay and I like the thought of a center with size in the middle. He also seemed good at making the line adjustments and there wasn't the wholesale blitzers running free. In the previous 3 games Matt Forte has had to choose between 2 blitzing players coming in the same gap with no success( currently the only flaw in his game blitz pick up). I figure Montgomery goes on IR and they have to bring someone in off the street. On D Rolle was in a walking boot after the game.

Thank you! I felt like everyone thought I was attacking someone. When all I was pointing out is that we are trying to project what he would be. As a long time Bear fan that has never worked. Example David Terrell.

I like Connor Cook or Bosa as a top pick for this team. I agree with improving the cornerback play and adding depth to the o-line. I also like TCU Wr Dotson.

I really think that Young and Allen are the same type of player with Young being lol younger. If he can keep his pre-snap penalties to a minimum the I think he can be a keeper. Also his coverage skills need to improve or else when he hits the field teams will know his role. Now if someone with a 4-3 defense wants to make a mid round draft pick for a guy who isn't playing much right now, you have to listen.
