If Allen is not in the mix--the means we are concerned about his medical. I can't remember ever seeing so much speculation about the #2 pick.
-
We've beat the #1 pick talk to death. Assuming we stay where we are at with no trades, who are you hoping for in round #2?
-
Two months ago, there were 3 top QB's and Kizer was arguably the best. Now, everything I am seeing, Kizer is the clear #4. While it's. Not likely, it is possibly he's there for the Bears in the 2nd round.
-
Is Wentz that good? He looked like a hall of famer playing against the Bears. Yet he sucked the 2nd half of the season. Everyone likes Marietta and Winston. Yet neither have done much. How many times have we declared a QB was a franchise guy? Then he ends up sucking. Hell, Mark Sanchez seemed like the real deal his first 3 years in the league.
-
Yea, but Peppers is an elite in the box safety who can't cover. Can you imagine what Fangio could scheme up for him? You take the best player available. Peppers could be huge for this team.
-
With the exception of Cleveland, every team we face is predicting the Bears game will be an easy "W.".
-
I'm not so sure. Only because they were saying the EXACT same thing about Wentz and Goff last year at this time. A couple weeks before the draft, it was assumed Wentz and/or Goff would be available when the Bears drafted at #11. I buy the Nolan Nawrocki draft guide each year. His evaluating numbers have Trubisky and Watson just a hair off from where he had Goff and Wentz. I don't see a team selling the farm to trade up to get one of those guys, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them go way earlier than expected.
-
Not to mention that Winston is 2 inches taller and is said to have a wider frame.
-
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm going with Deshaun Watson. Two weeks ago I would have thought drafting him at #3 was crazy. But the closer we get--the more I think we'd be crazy not to take him. I don't think he'll ever be a pro-bowler, but he'll be a damn good quarterback and our biggest difference maker.

You are absolutely right that we are not really desperate at any position. The problem is that every position needs an upgrade. Let me put it this way, how many positions are we very happy with and set for at least the next two seasons? I can only think of two: ILB and OG. Which also happen to be considered two of the lesser valued positions in football. So while we are not desperate, we need just about everything.

This is a REALLY weird year for the draft. Normally at this time I feel like I have a pretty good idea of the top 12 picks. There are always surprises, but lots of predictability. This year? There are 9 days and 22 hours until the draft, and aside from Myles Garrett, I have no damn clue. What I know is: 1. We want to draft a QB. But there is not one worth taking at #3 and at least 4 will be gone by our 2nd round pick. 2. We'd love to trade down--but there's not a player worth moving up for another team to get. 3. The consensus is we draft a secondary player--except this regime undervalues the secondary position and instead want to focus on the front 7.
-
Yep. That absolutely helps us in round 2. The problem is, while there is an over-abundance of round one talent, there is a void of top tier talent. Which means it sucks to have the #3 pick.
-
Does anyone really believe the browns are considering Trubisky? This is like the worst smoke screen ever. The only thing this story does for me is point to the #1 consensus QB. We may finally have a clear front-runner.
-
Cash really isn't an issue with the Bears. We've spent a ton, have a ton we could still spend, and have even more to spend next year. While i don't think we take a QB at #3, it is possible, and if we do it's also possible we just declare, 'You ain't playing this year.' None of the QB's are ready so i have no problem with that. And we can easily dump mike Glennon after this year. No big deal
-
Wheaton, White, Wright, Meredith, and Bellamy are the only locks to make the roster. I could easily see Braverman and Randle getting cut. White and Wheaton are both injury prone. Wright's on a one year deal and hasn't done much in several years. Bellamy is a special teams guy who sucks at WR. This group needs all the help it can get.
-
I can't. It's stupid. But isn't it almost as stupid as drafting a corner or safety at #3? I'd include running back and OG--but we are not in the market for either of those positions.
-
With signaling out intentions, this is one year it doesn't matter. We pick at #3 and there is no consensus #2 pick. We could take Latimore at #3 or he could drop to 10. A team would be stupid to trade up for him. Why would they jump up to get him when there are so many other good secondary players available? I do think this solidifies the likilihood that we draft a gu in round 2 or 3
-
Everything Pace and Fox have done in the last 2 years indicate that you put your money in the front 7 and the back end will take care of itself. If we think a guy is a true difference maker and the BPA, we could draft a top tier secondary player. But to go secondary back to back??? Ain't no way in hell that's happening. That being said, if we add Allen to our front 7, I feel like I could play CB for the Bears.
-
I still don't want to see a safety at #3. To me that's the equivalent of taking an offensive guard at #3. The position is not worth that high of a pick.
-
Today's report: Hall was very remorseful about the incident. The Bears are investigating. AND we are planning on moving him to safety this offseason. That sounds like a dude who has a future with this team. Translation: we think he's a player.
-
Whitehair is 6-3 and NOBODY projects him as a tackle. With Grasu--he's yet to prove he can be average. Moving Kyle Long to LT would make more sense because he actually has the skill set to play the position. Although I get the reasons for not moving him.
-
I don't know. Is everyone really okay with Adams at #3? You take a safety at #3 and he better be a future hall of famer. I don't get that he is THAT good. This draft sucks for the Bears. Most drafts--you have clear tiers. A top 3 or a top 5. With this draft there's like a top 12 that seem fairly interchangeable. After Myles Garrett there's multiple guys who could be drafted #2. That means the #2 pick ain't that valuable.
-
If we think the dude can play--we tolerate it. If we're not sure if he can play--we cut his ass. Hall totally looks the part but did next to nothing last season. He didn't murder anyone. He's young and reallly stupid. If he might be good you give him a 2nd chance.
-
The thing is--this is a team that has sucked for so long that it needs to start winning now. The best players available at #3 who can be immediate difference makers are defensive players. If we draft a QB at #3--there will be immediate pressure to play him. It doesn't get much easier than drafting at #3. You have a big board. You have a top 3. IMO it's real safe to assume a QB ain't near the top 3.
-
As per multiple sources. One year deal. Considering none of the quarterbacks in the draft are ready to play now--I think this means we'll draft a guy in round 2 or 3 and we have no intention of playing him this year.
