  1. I don't know if that's true. The Bears media usually has an idea of what's transpiring. In the past two years they predicted the Black Unicorn and BM would both be gone. They've predicted Cutler would be gone and I believe them. I believe we would rather over-pay Glennon than have Cutler return. The thing is--free agency is fluid. We may be in on a ton of guys we have no shot at.
  2. Can we PLEASE just keep Cutler one more year? I get that he sucks but every QB mentioned, including Brian Hoyer, is way worse. Christ almighty. Let's just dump our bad QB for a worse one and let our #1 WR walk. WTF?
  3. He may not be dominant but he's easily our best LT option. There's not a great LT available in free agency and none worthy of the #3 overall pick. Long was a pro-bowl alternate at RT.
  4. I'd like to see Kyle Long moved to LT. With Josh Sitton and Whitehair, the other two interior positions are in good shape. It's far easier to find a good RG than a LT.
  5. Ryan Pace has done a good job of signing guys who are in their prime. At the very least--he has signed guys he thinks will be really productive for multiple seasons. That hasn't always worked--but he's tried. Williams is clearly at the end of his career. If we were one player--you make a run at him. No stop gap-players.
  6. I saw that. I wonder what his value is? He had 6.5 sacks last year which explains why we want him to return. Yet he is more valuable to a 4-3 defense. Either way, I hope we are spending some of the 25 million we have available in cap space.
  7. Agreed we can add some veteran defensive backs. But by all indications, Hall is a corner, Bush a safety, and Houston-Carson will be primarily a special teams player.
  8. There was also buzz on Lawson. That being said, I think we have to go back to what Pace has said repeatedly about wanting explosive playmakers. We are hoping that's Kevin White and we are hoping that's Floyd. While Rankin is a really good player, he doesn't fit the explosive playmaker category. We did well getting Eddie Goldman last year and Ballard seems like a steal this year. I gotta admit, I have no idea who we draft without the trade-up. Assuming Tunsil was off our board, looking at all the other players who were drafted in round #1, there's nobody who excites me.
  9. Player leadership is overrated. There's pry 20 different coaches working with a 53 man roster. Tucker sucked while Fangio turned a bunch of guys who shouldn't be in the NFL into a decent group.
  10. That's damn interesting. Here's a few thought: 1. If we didn't trade up to get Floyd, we could have went a ton of different directions. Supposedly we tried to trade up to get Ramsey. When that fell through we traded to get Floyd. So we went from targeting a DB to targeting a speed rusher. Who knows what our next target was? 2. Where did you here the Bears were trading up to get Hunter Henry? The SCORE speculated we wanted DT Chris Jones. Granted, we were trying to trade with the Cowboys and we didn't make much of an effort after that. It could also have been Jaylon Smith or Myles Jack. 3. I think Slauson was gone regardless. You don't dump a guy immediately because of a late 2nd rounder. I don't understand the move. But when we signed Ramirez and Lawson, the speculation was Slauson was gone. We waited until after the draft to try and trade him.
  11. I think the opening day line-up could be Leno-Larson-Ramirez-Long-Massie. I'm still anxious for us to sign that elusive swing tackle.
  12. That's just crazy. We have Jeffery slotted as a 16+ million cap hit for this year under the franchise tag. Supposedly, one of the biggestet reasons teams want to get a deal done instead of the franchise tag, is because the hit is too great. AFTER that 16 million tag, we STILL have close to 30 million to spend. Are we planning on Jeffery being a 40 million cap his this year? That's just crazy.
  13. If they really wanted to do that, they should have done it before free agency started. As soon as we signed Manny Ramirez and Ted Lawson the rumors started it was because we wanted to dump Slauson. Those weren't even major deals.
  14. Everyone is trying to figure out why we may not like Slausson. We currently have 6 players who seem like a lock to make the team as a G/C and only 2 at OT. The simple solution would be to move Kyle Long to LT. Yes, he might be the best RG in football, but you could take any really good LT, move them to RG, and you'd be saying the same thing.

    Rolle released

I don't believe in the mentoring business. You do want professionals to lead by example. The Bears don't want players to coach, they want players who can play. To me it comes down to this: Who is better? Rolle or Whitner? That's the only quesiton we are asking. Until we make another move, this really doesn't make sense. You can't take the cap savings with you and we probably have more money than we can spend. And aside from a 4th rounder, we don't have anybody to replace Rolle.
  16. While we can speculate, we can't just assume we wanted Spriggs. There's no evidence of this and there was a ton of REALLY good players available in round #2. The Bears were picking at #18. The Packers jumped all the way from #26 to #17. It's not like they went from 19 to 17. They were jumping multiple teams. Honestly, when we traded down I thought we would have stayed and drafted Jarran Reed, which is who Seattle ended up taking.

    Rolle released

That would make a TON of sense. I just hope we're not doing it to save money. Safety was a position of weakness entering the draft so it was great we added Deon Bush. But it's foolish to think Bush can start immediately. Behind him and Adrian Amos, we have a bunch of nothing.
  18. Yep. And considering all the teams absolutely desperate for a starting quarterback . . . the fact that Hoyer signed as a clear #2 for only 2 million tells you all you need to know about his value. On a side note, I thought for sure he'd get more than 2 million.
  19. Nawrocki has him as the #75 player overall. He's good with special teams.
  20. That is awesome! I'm guessing his lack of receiving skills caused him to drop. But he's okay in pass protection and he can run the damn ball.
  21. At this point, I say we trade our 6 and 7 to move up and draft TE Jerell Adams. Then we can call it a day.
  22. Yep. He draws comparisons to Leveon Bell, a bruising power back. Although not much of a pass catcher. Nawrocki has him as the #6 RB and the 75th best player over all.
  23. Agreed. Ideally we take a QB in the 3rd round and groom him. The problem is when your roster is so damn thin, taking a QB to groom is a luxury.
  24. I'd love to get either Jordan Howard or Jerell Adams. Both great needs IMO and both would be great value picks.
