  1. Based on Jeremy Langford and Jordan Howard, who were drafted in the 4th and 5th rounds, we need to keep drafting running backs. Everyone says, "Draft a QB every year." To hell with that. If you do it right, you only need one QB. Keep drafting running backs.

    Solomon Thomas

Good info. I'd love to see the Bears draft him at #3. I just hate the idea of drafting a safety that high. When we have great pass rushers, we won't need a great safety.
  3. 1. There are always guys who put up huge numbers because they play opposite somebody great. Then some team gives them a big-time contract and they are bad--cause they weren't playing opposite a good WR. Yes, you still have to run routes, but that's one helluva a lot easier when the other team is game-planning to stop Bryant and Bell. 2. Pretty much all the SCORE guys will tells you Cam's ceiling is a #2 WR. He migh get 1000 yards but he'll never strike fear to the opponent. 3. Wright may be good in the right system with the right scheme and with lots of talent around him. I don't see that with this offense.

    Trading down

No way we can trade down. The problem is it's Myles Garrett and then you have like 10 other guys who could go #2. I could see if we had the #1 pick--a team wanting to switch with us to get Garrett. I could see if we had the #2 pick, while it's not likely, a team moves up to get what they perceive to be the best QB. At #3 we are screwed. Damn I wish we'd have lost to San Fran.
  5. Good points. You mentioned the Rams were butchered for Jason Goff. Don't forget Carson Wentz looked like Matt Barkley the 2nd half of the season. Just 3-4 years ago, RG3, Nick Foles, and Kapernick all look ed to be franchise QB's. I understand why the Bears would rather pay Glennon then draft a QB at #3.
  6. At #3 you need to identify an elite talent who will play at a pro-bowl level. While Trubisky and Watson could be long term starters in the league, they are not elite talents for their position. Good enough to play but not good enough to win. It's been since 2012, but Andrew Luck was easily the BPA. It happens.
  7. Agreed 100%. Last year at this time we were hearing rumors about the top 2 QB's moving up. That ain't happening this year. I think we all agree we'd love to see the Bears get Trubisky, Keizer, or Watson in round #2. Except Cleveland and San Fran fans are thinking the same thing. It ain't happening. And we don't have the ammo to move up. It's much easier to move around on the 2nd day. Last year we moved down and drafted Cody Whitehair. I could easily see us moving down to take Kaaba, Peterman, or Mahomes.
  8. Here's why: Wheaton--was picked to be a breakout star opposite the leagues best WR Antonio Brown. Arguably the league's best RB, Le'Veon Bell, and a Super Bowl QB in Big Ben. Replace that with Cam Meredith, Jordan Howard, an Mike Glennon. Yikes. Wright--his only good year was 2013. How does he not produce on those god-awful teams from 2014-2016? Meredith--experts view him at best as a #2 WR. It's a bad WR group.
  9. To summarize our top 5 WR's: Kevin White: Still here. Still hurt. Still unproven. We replace Alshon with Merideth: that's a downgrade Wheaton replaces Royal: Royal has had better seasons. Both deep threats. Both injured. Wright replaces Mariani: both former TN WR's who ain't done much in a long time Bellamy: Please keep him on special teams. No passes. Not even hands team. I expect Randle to get cut. I expect Braverman to play only when we are desperate. With Patterson, I should have added I was mainly excited about his return ability but he does add much needed depth to a real bad group. At least with Alshon, we had a legit #1. With this group--I don't know if we have a legit #2.
  10. In the 2nd list, you ignored the fact that Wheaton missed Most of last year due to injury, the Bears had the chance to sign Randle in December and didn't, because of his injury, while Wright missed 5 games in 2016 and 6 in 2015. Josh Bellamy is a special teams guy and Braverman looked real bad last year. As an ISU grad, I love Cam Meredith. But at best he's a solid #2. I'll feel much better if we can land Cordelle Patterson.
  11. Agreed 100%. I'll add that last year we entered the season with what we thought was a legit #1 (Alshon) an absolute stud #2 who was healthy and ready (White) and an extremely productive #3 in Eddie Royal. Two are gone and White is injury prone. Not to mention we probably are worse at QB. Now our WR group reminds me of something the LA Rams put together every year. Castoffs and disappointments.
  12. Good question. After we dumped Cutler and Eddie Royal, we were close to 70 million under the cap. After all these signing, I'm guessing we have at least 30 million to spend. At least. I don't think Floyd is worth the headache. However, we were interested in Cordelle Patterson a few days ago but I haven't heard anything since. At the very least, he's a damn good return man.
  13. I agree. I'm just griping because it's been disappointing overall. I was hoping for a RT who could protect Glennon for years to come. Instead we get a back-up swing tackle. I thought we'd land at least one secondary player who we could plug and play for the next five years. Instead we are getting dudes on the wrong side of 30 and back-ups. And Cooper is not an upgrade over Porter. As per Pro Football focus, last year he had a putrid 45.5 rating.
  14. McManis is more of a special teamer than a backup. I'm surprised Kyle fuller is still on the roster.
  15. So these are back up players nobody else wants? It sucks we still have 30+ million to spend and nobody to spend it on
  16. I think it's all about how our team looks going into training camp when everyone is healthy. Losing Alshon was a big blow. Even though it was likely to happen, it still sucks and our team is worse. If you need to win a game, if both are healthy, you take Cutler over Glennon. So essentially our QB position is worse. Our WR position is worse. In short, it appears we've downgraded at 2 key positions. And we all assume any old safety we sign will suck. And nobody notices the blocking TE. Based on what's happened today, our team is worse.
  17. Barwin is old and the Bears are bad. He wants to win and the Bears want to build.
  18. Did Bennett change teams? I know the Pats wanted him but he wanted to get paid. Marshall is a turd. As for Alshon, the one year deal is just weird. It seemed a no brainer that at the minimum, he'd get 5 years at 12 with 30 guaranteed. I kind of felt that's what the Bears were offering. So he signed a one year deal for 14 hoping he'll get 5 at 15 with 40? And he signed it immediately. I hope he's getting good advice. Most agents say, take the money and run. That's one helluva a gamble.
  19. As per someone named Garafolo, as retweeted by Lawrence Holmes, the deal is 3 years 18 million with 10 guaranteed. We still have over 50 millio to spend.
  20. We gave Glennon 15 mil per. The next best offer he received was 10 mil per. Based on that, I am 100% convinced we've decided not to draft a QB at #3
  21. We've replaced Cutler with Glennon. At best it's a push but it's probably a downgrade. We signed an old safety. They say he could be the next Adam Archuletta. We signed a young hurt/bad WR. To help replace our franchise #1 WR. And we are in line to sign a bad TE. We still have 50 million to spend, our team isn't better, and we have nobody to spend it on.
  22. I don't know who that is. We still have like 59.5 million to spend.
  23. As per the SCORE. I don't know who that is. We still have like 60 million to spend.
  24. By far and away the best quarterback in Bear's history. We were 5 &14 in games he did not start. And we replaced him with Mike Glennon. Forget the champagne, this calls for binge drinking.
  25. Jay Cutler is better than any free agent quarterback. The problem is he sucks and everybody hates him. So we could overpay for Mike Glennon. We can resign Brian Hoyer. There are a bunch of other mediocre QB's available--none of which would be an upgrade. If we take a guy at #3--it will be a reach and they won't be ready to play effectively this season. If we take a guy in the 2nd round--it'd be an even bigger project. We will likely do some combination of signing a bad QB and drafting a bad QB. Either way, for the immediate future, we are screwed at QB.
