Trubisky gone
If given the opportunity to play in Buffalo I suspect Mitch will succeed. The talk of OC Daboll is nothing but good. He runs a very similar style offense that Andy Reid does. I've heard comments that Daboll has cobbled together a little bit of everything he's learned in his years of coaching, to include his time as OC for Alabama in 2017 to come up with what they're doing with Josh Allen at QB. Once they added Diggs their offense took off. They ranked #2 overall in total yards, #3 in passing yards and #2 is points scored.

Bears sign Andy Dalton per the score. Foles 2.0
You seriously can’t. Don’t GMs with scouting backgrounds do some sort of research? You’d think Mariota was one option they looked at and maybe even talked to or heard about Oakland’s plans? Wasn’t Pace on the record as saying he pursued Mariota when he came out for the draft? Again, seems like he’d have done some level of homework. Agree. Time for Pace to go...now.

That is interesting. The lower INT rate is encouraging. Hard to get excited about him. He did well most of the games he played for Cincy during the regular season. Well enough to get them into the playoffs a few times. But then sucked outright while in the playoffs. Then while in Dallas failed to really do much with talented players around him like CeCe Lamb, Amari Cooper, Zeke Elliot and Michael Gallup. I suppose the one excuse was their line was beat up all season. So there’s that.

I think he’s trying to be funny.

Bears getting hammered in Media
Because this seems like a good trend of a string. Imagine being a fan of the Cardinals with Fitzgerald, Hopkins and now Green with a QB sorta like Russell Wilson, but younger? <sigh>

The last half of this was both hilarious and sad at the same time. Can’t wait to see Pace try and out maneuver whomever for that next ‘can’t miss’ player.

Yeah I can see why. This is allegedly what they were willing to do to get Wilson. And instead signed Dalton. Talk about a major whiff. Desperation much?

Bears kicking the tires on LT?
Coward was a converted DLman if I recall. Sorta like their failed experiment with Sowell. Lost in all this is what is Juan Castillo doing during this whole mess? I thought he was brought in to replace Harry Heistand and improve things, not make them the same or worse? I also find it interesting two of Heistands former players at Norte Dame, Bars and Mustipher, appear to be the missing link for the oline at least on the inside. I was curious how the rest of the line stacked up. And what you say with Lazor taking over about the same time the Oline got re-tooled things stated to look better. Agree that at this point, right now, Leno is the weak link and in huge need of replacement.

Bears kicking the tires on LT?
Out of curiosity, how did Bars and Mustipher compare? Of course with Daniels going out early he doesn’t really figure in. And then there’s Ifedi who was just resigned.

Bears Free Agency 2021
Couldn’t help but notice AJ McCarron on the list. Not all that long ago a few here speculated how he might look in Chicago. He’s got the “Bill Parcell’s” pedigree with him coming from a big school (Alabama) and a winning record (won two BCS championships).

Mario Edwards - 3yr deal
Sadly I think this is accurate. After his first injury he came back and was somewhat effective but after the last one he seems to have not been as effective. Probably time to cut our losses.

Jones extended in GB (for a lot of money)
I’m curious what they’re thinking about their QB position. Last year there were murmurs of Rodgers possibly leaving especially with their choosing Love in the 1st round. Think they’re gonna see how much they can squeeze out of Rodgers before they need to try Love or?? Not sure how any of it will count against their cap. Obviously Love has at least a few more years before he counts towards their contractual commitments, being on a rookie contract and all.

Cordarelle Patterson gone
Well I don’t like this one bit.

O'Donnell resigned
Funny the special teams guys are all getting addressed. Less complicated I suppose.

Cap is $182.5M
So I meant to organize this differently but - dang iPhone. I found the top link while looking for a story I saw about Jimmy Graham wanting to finish his career on Chicago. But apparently a few days ago he was in a vehicle accident. Fortunately it appears he came out of it ok. Here’s the story I originally was looking for which tells me he might be open to restructuring his deal: https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2021/02/05/jimmy-graham-wants-finish-career-chicago-bears/

Cap is $182.5M
I’ve seen some pretty wild ideas on how to clear space and make a trade for Wilson (as a ‘for example’) proposed. It involved this year’s first, one or two key defensive players (like Hicks, Mack, Jackson or R. Smith) and Foles thrown in for good measure. As much as I’d hate to de-structure the defense (I wouldn’t think all those players would leave at once) I’d still endorse that before just cutting a guy like Graham.
-
Cap is $182.5M
Why ‘cut Graham’? Is it simply for the cash savings? He was the only reliable receiver in the TE room (and third overall after ARob and Mooney?). He had 8 TDs (led the team) last year which was 3 more than he got in his two years combined while at GB...with Rodgers throwing to him. This smells of Greg Olsen all over agin. Now if you’re talking about resigning/restructuring him in some way then ok... And reading the article Mongo posted brought up how New Orleans is habitually over the cap and somehow manages to come out of it. I’m assuming that’s where Pace learned this from.
-
Russell Wilson
Maybe with whatever team RW ends up on not named Chicago(?).
-
Russell Wilson
Yeah it wasn’t all that long ago that Kyle said he’d love to continue playing football but not for the current staff in Chicago.
-
ARob's Tag
I think ultimately this is the best option. Whether it be Wilson, Watson or top 20 draft then I'd say 'goodbye' to Robinson.
-
ARob's Tag
I saw some murmurs last week that the Jets and he had some level of mutual interest. Would option 2 work best to the Bears’ favor? I don’t like the ideal if it could mean a trade involving Darnold.

This Is What Pace Tells McCaskey
I don’t know about Super Bowl bound but better than last year. One other thing that will need to happen is Nagy not doing the play-calling. I have to believe with a player of Wilson’s capability we’d see him call the plays more from his perspective. He even said it himself; he'd be willing to see what he could do to make Chicago’s offense better.
