  1. I doubt very much they tinker with the OL very much if someone is cut. They seem to be set on the young guys going forward. If maybe there is a better option than Schofield as a backup, maybe. I can see them maybe bringing in another LB or WR but I think they think they are set. The DBs have a lot of youth and will not want to mess with the progress of them. Injuries of course will affect their choices.
  2. It appears to be the best 5 will be Jones-Whitehair-Patrick-Jenkins-Borom. A lot of youth there but with Patrick and Whitehair should stabilize the group. There will be mistakes but a group that has lots of room to grow. By midseason it will no longer be considered one of the worst groups in the league. They will emphasize the running game which is easy for a OL to gain confidence running over people. I think with a FB, 2 TE sets , the blocking will be enough to run an effective O. If Jenkins , Jones or Borom need more time , you have Schofield and Reiff to fall back on. If this group jells, 23-24-23 will give us a cheap OL for a several yrs to come. Last yr Poles was involved with the remaking of the OL in KC where Humphrey and Trey Smith started as rookies. That turned out well for KC. Poles said he knows the OL and in a couple of weeks we will find out.
  3. I forgot about Brisker but his thumb injury wont keep him out for very long. I think he may be okay to go for the opener. They can put a cast on it and go from there. Our primary contributors are all ready to go. Monty, Kmet, Mooney and Fields. I think this team will operate more efficiently. Less penalties, less TOs, more fluid offense. We obviously need more but this is our core on offense and the players that will contribute the most.
  4. He's here on the vet minimum, dont see Schofield getting cut for Carter when you have a young guy starting ahead of him. If they need the roster spot, they could get by with Musifer as backup at RG but he has never played the LG spot. Schofield can play either guard spots. Either Borom or Reiff are the starter or swing OT. Danvenport got cut. Coleman hassnt played well dont see him sticking around.
  5. They are playing starters in the final game for about a half. I want to see Monty, Mooney, Kmet, Fields and the starting Oline on the field at the same time. The injured players other than Gordon and Patrick are secondary players. Nobody has major injuries so that is a good thing.
  6. I think they can get by with 8. Schoefield can play either OG spot. Jenkins can play RT and Reiff can play both OT spots.
  7. Time will tell but looking good from this view. If Poles can identify talent then his Free agent class may be better than it looks. Good good
  8. No way they expose Robinson to other teams. Maybe a fake injury or something. I think Sanborn goes to the practice squad and also Hicks makes the final roster.
  9. It will be nice to see several drives with the #1 starters playing.
  10. The national press and some locals claim doomsday for this team. Yes we lost Mack and Hicks, but last yr they were hurt more than they helped. This yr we have improved a dismal DB group with the addition of Brisker and Gordon. Johnson has grown one more yr and hopefully the new scheme rejuvenated Jackson. The scheme seems to be more user friendly for Vidor. Graham is expected to take a step forward. We signed Tevon Young, and Clurkshank for added depth. Elijah Hicks seems to be going to make the roster. Smith is back in the fold and should flourish in this scheme. Morrow is running under the radar but was highly productive in LV and has the speed of Smith. SLM is the only question mark but according to Flus is only on the field for 20% of the snaps. Joe Thomas, Matt Adams or Jack Sanborn surely can handle that spot. We lost Mack but our oveall depth is so much deeper. Quinn wont make it to 18 1/2 sacks this yr but double digits should be no problem. Q Muhammad is a baller and had 7 sacks last yr. Gipson is an ascending player. Brian Robinson has all the tools and as the 4th PR, should show some flash. Also out here is Edwards and he has always showed pass rushing skills. The middle of the defense has some questions. Jones and Blackson will be starting with Tonga and Tover as backups. This has the biggest questions on the D but Jones has been getting lots of compliments in practice, Blackson is solid. We will see how they work out. Dont count out them adding someone here after cuts. Overall the scheme is probably the best new addition. The emphasis on TOs and 7 to the ball appears to give the D new energy. If I remember Lovies Ds were bend but dont break . Which is probably what we see here. I think this D is going to surprise people.

I think they favor the upside of the young for more of a long-term answer . They have Schofield and Reiff to jump in if it doesnt work. I think they have the FB, and 2 TE sets to help with blocking, so they will scheme to put these players in the best situation to win. If these are the starters by the end of the season then all will be good with the OL. 2 5ths and a 2nd rounder as a future OL. That would be amazing. Reiff only makes 3 mil, if he only plays less than 10% of the snaps, so they can always fall back to him. He is just happy to have a job this late in the preseason.
  12. He's never going to be a star but more like Nick Kwiatkoski type. Plays well when he gets to play but once he got a starting job in LV, he faded fast. At Best the SLB starter in the future as you suggested.
  13. Watched a Clemson vs Ohio State highlights film. Justin was 22-28, 385 yds and 6 TDs. He is going to be a star and we got the right coaches to bring it out of him. I cant wait until he has that game that the national press say (he has arrived). I hope its the first game.
  14. I think that in this defense he increases his wow plays and will pay him his money at the end of the season. If not they tag him.
  15. I think they pretty well rest everybody that will be starting the first game. I think they have 12 practices left and will get done what they need to get ready for the first game. I would like to see the starters on the oline get some reps together but Patrick isn't ready yet so that would be mute. I think they know whose starting.

Olin Kruetz thinks he is the most talented player on the OL and I tend to agree. I think this in sense, is his rookie yr and is starting to get up to speed with the NFL. I think his play will improve every game going forward. We're going to have another Kyle Long type player at RG again. With Patrick coming back the middle of the OL will be our strength.
  17. I just looked over my final roster and am going to keep Mike Williams and lose round10 pick and also M Brown and lose pick in round 13.
  18. I read where Herbert was carted off the field, havent seen what that injury was about.
  19. He knows he has to play this yr, 9.7 mil is not chicken salad. He wants to prove himself and go after the big contract again after the season. If in the Flus defense he puts nuts up like Leonard, they will gladly pay him.

Here is a breakdown of the first string plays in the game.
  21. He's their best defensive player we have. A lot of good players have egos, he at least shows up. Will is the most important spot on this scheme. He needs to get his head out of ass and sign. Trading him would not get his value back in return. I suspect he signs before the next game.
  22. I don't remember hearing his name but the box score has him with some tackles.
  23. I think if things don't play out for the OL, Schofield and Reiff. will start. Also Patrick is supposed to be back. So I think the line will be average at worst.
  24. Plus the Bears had to travel, Seahawks were home. There are 4 or 5 teams out of the block look worst than the Bears. For people to still say , we are the worst team in the league is a joke.
