  1. As we watch backups to the backups play, we were in the game with 10:03 left 21-13. The Oline actually got a decent grade from PFF (just something to measure with). The only 2023 starter playing was B. Jones. Our DBs continue to show promise with no pass rush. Jaylon Jones, and Josh Blackwell will be on this team next yr. V Jones will get chances to show his worth, someone with his speed will not be discarded like an old pair of socks. Because were losing, we have a negative look on all that's going on here but I think we have something building here with the young guys. Rookies that are going to be on team next yr. Brisker/ S Gordon /CB Jaylon Jones/CB Josh Blackwell/CB Elijah Hicks/S Jack Sanborn/LB Sterling Weatherford/LB waiting to see him get some playing time. Dom Robinson/DE J Carter/LG lost in the depth chart , gaining strength will put him in for more playing time. B. Jones/LT bright spot Tent Gill/ Punter bright spot V Jones/ WR bad first yr but still has speed Tris Ebner/RB bad first yr Erik Kramer/OC been on IR all yr. I suspect he projects out as a Sam Mustifer. I think if a GM has 13 rookies making the roster in the first yr, that is a good sign. 5 of them has made an impact. Brisker-Gordon-Sanborn-Gill-B Jones
  2. I probably should have phrased it better, I dont remember saying they are big contracts except for Davenport. Hillard is the type of player that had some good moments as a backup and is injured this yr. but is young with potential that Poles might sign. Comes from a great OL atmosphere but not meaning he gets a big contract. Davenport has played bad this yr, 2021 is more what to expect from him. 9 sacks, 16 QB hits, 9 TFL, 3 forced fumbles. He started the yr on the PUP list and have had nagging injures all yr. Even though he hasnt earned a big contract, his traits , upside, and youth will gain him a lot of money. I suspect a 10-12 mil a yr, the best in the league make over 20 mil a yr. I may not have all the names right but my point is what Poles will be investing in in FAgency. It will be on the line, both OL and DL. I dont see CB or TE in that mix as go to signings.
  3. If you watch highlights of Jalen Carter, he is a beast but to be honest, his stats are very mediocre. I like drafting players that were highly productive, can anyone explain the generational tag placed on Carter? My favorite tape to watch is Tuli Tuipulotu, he has 11.5 sacks this year. 21 tfl, 44 Ts, and 2 FFs. I don't get it.
  4. I think one thing is for sure, Lovie is not going to try to lose. Winning is all that matters to him.
  5. Their isn't any in FAgency this yr and our first pick in the draft is not going to be a WR , so our pick in round 2 probably don't have any #1s at that slot. 2024 FAs include Jerry Jeudy, Higgins and Pittman Jr. Better shot at a stud.
  6. I agree with Payne but not the rest . I don't think he quits on B Jones even though Brown would be an awesome upgrade. Andre Dillard/RT from Philly, ties to Cunningham who came from Philly. Ethan Pocic/OC from Cleveland, he solidifies the OL . DeRon Payne/ DT, I doubt Wash pays both DTs big money. Marcus Davenport/DE, NO always is in cap hell and needs a QB. This is Poles big contract for a young pass rusher.
  7. I don't think they rest anyone in both games, the coach wants to keep his job, Houston can beat Indy with Saturday as their coach, he screws up a lot.
  8. As Poles views the roster, he will look at the lines first and then fill in after that. I think he adds at least 2 starters on oline and 3 on Dline. I think he continues with B Jones at LT, he showed enough upside to fill other spots. Jenkins is set so does he continue with Whitehair and Patrick ? I think he brings in a OC and RT and lets everyone compete. The DL needs at least 3 new starters. One will come with the first pick in the draft and 2 in FAgency. The lines will upgrade with top tier contracts. I think he brings back Morrow and we have Sanborn, so he won't spend big here or draft high here. We need one more CB and that will be a mid level vet to go with a bunch of young guys. As much as we need upgrades at WR, I think only one rookie gets added but probably won't be align pick. As the line gets better with Fields potential, the WR group will look a lot better. 2024 is when he goes after the stud WR.
  9. I like the other draft better. Although 11 picks in the top 101 is quite the feat. Just think we have a shot at the first pick in the draft and the most money, 124 mil according to OTC.
  10. That would be a great draft instead or another 3 T at 48, would grab Siaki Ika if possible, huge NT.
  11. There is always a team that makes a QB their savior, the past gives you all kind of examples. Maybe most GMs think Young is the only true star so being first gives everyone the chance to get who they want. Definitely a more valuable pick. If Houston wins that gives us potentially 5 teams that could draft a QB in the top 8. (for now) Indy will have a top 5 pick. I would love to see them go after THE QB in a trade. first and second round picks, DeForest Buckner, and Alex Pierce. 2023 first round pick.
  12. Shit, anyone know what he got?
  13. That would be a excellent draft. No way Anderson makes it to 7 thou. Also with one of your LB picks, I think somewhere they will draft another TE, They will be resigning Morrow, and we have Sanborn, so I doubt they take any LBs in their top 100 picks.
  14. You're right, someone on the SCORE mentioned the idea today, I wondered if his talent would fit anywhere we needed him.
  15. That sounds good to me. They know what they have in Borom ( not a starter) ,I think you may be right about asking him to restructure his contract, and if not post June 1 cut that still has 4.2 mil in dead money but saves us 9.9 mil. Elgton Jenkins can play either spot and maybe that can put Tev Jenkins at RT if they want to and grab a stud OC in the draft. This yr they are 4 about average OCs in draft, Stromberg/Ark--Schmitz--Van Pran--Olumwatimi. 2-4 round We are not sure yet how Poles is at drafting yet but I do think he knows the OL well enough to get us a starter in the 5th round. So he will know what OC to draft and who to grab in FAgency. I wouldnt mind if he grabs a OC in FAgency , instead of waiting for a rookie to grow at the spot. Pocic, Bradbury, Bozeman, Quisenberry. I would be fine with a OC and RT in FAgency and then draft a OG if you want to push Whitehair out. Dont forget we have J Carter on the roster than Poles liked enough to draft but as with most rookies, he needs to build strength.
  16. That was the point I was trying to make. Need other spots filled before we get back to LT. Once he gains some strength and experience, he may end up being our best OL.
  17. The NFL has good drugs, no problem. He doesnt want Ebner taking his job away.
  18. Of course we can afford it. Orlando Brown should be available this yr. He is probably the only player that is heads above the upside of Jones. So lets say he does that, then what do you do with B Jones ? Put him at RT or LG ? They are a few other but only a few starter types available this yr. Wynn will be available from NE but he is rated lower than B Jones is. The point Im trying to make is, if he thinks B Jones may end up a 8 yr starter, why just throw that away? Bring in 2 OL vets and fill in at OC and RT and that should lift the play of the rest of the OL . He will use capital to fill tons of other spots over the LT spot.
  19. actually I never watched any tape of him but has been productive and is big. Was a 34th pick. I thought that would compensate for the pick we traded away. I seen a draft from Goggles on took 2 LBs in the first 5 picks, picked Anderson and then didnt draft a DT until the last pick. Drafted WRs late. He either isnt a Bears fan or just dumb.
  20. Technically other that Fields, we could upgrade anyone on the roster but if you're building a team, why fill spots you already think you filled with upside players? You cant bring in 21 new players in in one season. Braxton may not be the answer, but he will get next yr to prove that. Why would Poles say ( I can find better) after one yr. So is he going to bring in a new SS and CB in because you can find better players than Gordon and Brisker? Nope He has potential core players that he started with in his first yr, it may not pan out, but I dont think he chucks his first yr of trying. B Jones, Jenkins, Brisker, Gordon, Sanborn, Justin Jones, D. Robinson, Claypool, Jaylon Jones, E Hicks, Leatherwood. These are players he brought in.
  21. Two important traits of good players is their work ethic and love of football. That is why people like Leatherwood fail, their head isnt in the right place. Can we change that? Probably not Both of those trades would be doable. How about with Indy #6, Pittman and Buckner, and pick #37
  22. Leatherwood is just going to be competing with someone else, he's not given the job. I just don't think he's replacing players at 4 spots.
  23. Been watching a lot of tape lately and some players I like. Not in any order. Devon Achane/RB 4.24 speed Tuli Tuipulotu/DT mauler Felix Anudike-Uzomah/edge quick Devon Witherspoon/CB very active Jalin Hyatt/WR speed 4.29 Mazi Smith/ DT gap eater
