  1. He can be a rotation guy who had 5 sacks last year. Minny changed to the 3-4. He had 43 tks and 3 TGL Also we picked up Leatherwood cut by the Raiders. He will earn 1.3 mil this yr. 400 thou more than a vet minu salary. Poles dont need first round draft picks, he has added two this yr already.
  2. I think they can scheme to help the OTs on the outside with help from the TEs and the RBs. The insdie will have to handle their jobs and it will turn into successful plays.
  3. Its amazing how negative the national press still is on the Bears . Of course there are lots of questions but we have to trust the process until it proves wrong. The best way to shut them up is to have a successful first game against SF. It doesnt even have to be a win but at least have a offensive presence.
  4. Tonges can play TE so they need one more. Of course they have to do the injury desigation with Young and Harry so there is 2 they can bring back. Many will be going to the PS (16). Who backs up Justin Jones at 3 T ? must be Blackson . Pennel and Tonga are strickly NTs. If they add anyone it will be at TE and DL. This is a young group but IMO it will prove to be better than most national writers have predicted. Flus likes to rotate his DL so definitly need to watch the waiver wire for DTs.
  5. Also Schofield got cut, you wait and see in will end up in TB. They are really hurting for OL.
  6. Here's a good study on Jenkins and Jones.
  7. There are a ton of Bear centric writers, they are always pushing stories just from someone's opinion and not necessarily facts. An example is Quinn wanting to be traded because he didn't show up for a required practice. Right before the draft someone interviewed him and he said he hopes he don't get traded. No one ever heard him say he didn't want to be here. When training camp started, all he did was say he wanted to be here. How could that be , with all the stories that writers posted . They made it up on projection. Every time someone might be cut, they keep saying we need to trade for that person, just junk stories.
  8. I started paying attention to the Swift videos. He has a positive attitude towards the Bears and puts in a lot of work to make his points.
  9. The OL will definitely effect the play of Lance and Deebo seems to be the type of player that would slack once he gets paid, mainly because of immaturity. Last year the 49ers started out 2-4 and didn't play well against us in week 7. I can see them having a slow start again this year. Upset potential, being on the road and the low expectations for the Bears.
  10. Totally agree with your selections. The extra 2 will depend on their ST ability. I think one will be a TE because of a lot of 2 TE sets and probably Hicks or Stomam for STs spot. I think Evans ends up with an injury designation , worth keeping. There is no way this group is bottom5 in the league. I would say bottom 10 may be a reach.
  11. Pettis has speed and probably has the most upside at WR. Mooney and Kmet are going to be target gobblers, we just just need a couple of other playmakers to show some consistency. The running game is in good hands with Monty, Herbert and Ebner. When you establish the run it builds up confidence for the Oline, just move and go. The scheming will help with the pass blocking. You throw in draws and screens , we will be able to keep defenders off balance. Then throw in Fields legs and this team will be hard to defend. It seemed like Justin Jones was all over the field last night. He has a high motor and is going to surprise people ( like me) that thought the 3T spot was a weakness. Covey keeps showing up on tape. The defense seems to have an attitude. The 7 to the ball with our speed is going to be successful. Matt Adams and Morrow can run. Roquan is just going to be that much better. Barring injuries, the DBs will be our biggest threat going forward. They can play.. My optimism was always high because of the upside of Fields, and now it is starting to transfer to the field. I hope we win 9 or 10 games just to see the backpedaling by national writers on their doomsday predictions.

    T. Jenkins

Mustifer will be OK for a game or two but its important for Patrick to get up to speed. Jenkins will end up being the best regarded OL on the team. This year you will see a Kyle Long type of breakout.
  13. A #1 is more defined by targets and production. The top targeted WRs are usually the best statistical WR. So if Mooney gets the same targets but is more efficient, he's doing 100 and and over 1200, that's top 12. Kent and Monty will be successful this yr. That's 3 solid weapons. You add in V. Jones, Pringle, St Brown, Sharpe, Herbert and Ebner. We will have plenty of support for a good offense. The key will be a better Fields and better coaching. I think that has the potential for us to have a breakout season.
  14. He is someone that could be forced into a few TOs. Two keys to the first game will be on well we stop the run and if TOs come in to play. We played them well last year with bad coaches and erratic play so this is a game could be our bell cow for the season if we can upset them. Tonight's game will go along way in seeing how ready our offense is to compete.

Has anyone heard any news of the progress of Patrick and his injury? I try to google it and found nothing.
  16. I doubt very much they tinker with the OL very much if someone is cut. They seem to be set on the young guys going forward. If maybe there is a better option than Schofield as a backup, maybe. I can see them maybe bringing in another LB or WR but I think they think they are set. The DBs have a lot of youth and will not want to mess with the progress of them. Injuries of course will affect their choices.
  17. It appears to be the best 5 will be Jones-Whitehair-Patrick-Jenkins-Borom. A lot of youth there but with Patrick and Whitehair should stabilize the group. There will be mistakes but a group that has lots of room to grow. By midseason it will no longer be considered one of the worst groups in the league. They will emphasize the running game which is easy for a OL to gain confidence running over people. I think with a FB, 2 TE sets , the blocking will be enough to run an effective O. If Jenkins , Jones or Borom need more time , you have Schofield and Reiff to fall back on. If this group jells, 23-24-23 will give us a cheap OL for a several yrs to come. Last yr Poles was involved with the remaking of the OL in KC where Humphrey and Trey Smith started as rookies. That turned out well for KC. Poles said he knows the OL and in a couple of weeks we will find out.
  18. I forgot about Brisker but his thumb injury wont keep him out for very long. I think he may be okay to go for the opener. They can put a cast on it and go from there. Our primary contributors are all ready to go. Monty, Kmet, Mooney and Fields. I think this team will operate more efficiently. Less penalties, less TOs, more fluid offense. We obviously need more but this is our core on offense and the players that will contribute the most.
  19. He's here on the vet minimum, dont see Schofield getting cut for Carter when you have a young guy starting ahead of him. If they need the roster spot, they could get by with Musifer as backup at RG but he has never played the LG spot. Schofield can play either guard spots. Either Borom or Reiff are the starter or swing OT. Danvenport got cut. Coleman hassnt played well dont see him sticking around.
  20. They are playing starters in the final game for about a half. I want to see Monty, Mooney, Kmet, Fields and the starting Oline on the field at the same time. The injured players other than Gordon and Patrick are secondary players. Nobody has major injuries so that is a good thing.
  21. I think they can get by with 8. Schoefield can play either OG spot. Jenkins can play RT and Reiff can play both OT spots.
  22. Time will tell but looking good from this view. If Poles can identify talent then his Free agent class may be better than it looks. Good good
  23. No way they expose Robinson to other teams. Maybe a fake injury or something. I think Sanborn goes to the practice squad and also Hicks makes the final roster.
  24. It will be nice to see several drives with the #1 starters playing.
