  1. Harris signed a 4-year extension last summer
  2. As much as Tommie Harris has underachieved this year, it would be stupid to release him. First off, even if he's not worth the money we're paying him, he's still a better DT than anything else we have. Plus, like Balta mentioned, I don't believe releasing him right now would really be saving us any money. I'd rather do everything we can to sign Haynesworth. That honestly would be my 1st move this offseason. You really wouldn't think the Titans would let go of quite possibly the Defensive POY, but they did franchise him last year with the promise that they won't this year. And if they haven't worked out an extension by now, maybe they're not willing to pay him what he wants. If you stick Haynesworth next to Harris, it would allow Harris to face one blocker on every play instead of getting double teamed like he does. Haynesworth would take up double teams, allowing Tommie to dominant whatever lineman has to face him one-on-one. And Haynesworth would still wreak havoc like he always does. Having Haynesworth would also allow Urlacher and Briggs to roam free and make all sorts of plays. Oh, and then I'd spend our 1st round pick on a DE. Our d-line would be instantly better than this year's and we'd actually have the ability to only rush 4 and still get pressure on the QB. Btw, Collins isn't coming to the Bears. I'm positive he'll re-sign with the Titans, but even if he doesn't, he'll go somewhere where he has a chance to start. Collins is no better than Orton, so he'd have no chance of getting the starting spot here.
  3. Yeah, I feel the same way about Forte, but I also have him on my fantasy team. I fully blame Kellen Davis b/c I'm 99% sure that play he false started was a run to Forte.
  4. Alright, thanks. I asked a couple friends as well, and they all liked it, so I just accepted the trade. I do get 1 point every 10 receiving yards, but not points per reception. Still, for being my flex player, I think Bush is pretty darn good option.
  5. Just got a quick question for you guys... Right now I have the opportunity to trade Reggie Wayne for Reggie Bush. Now, I need a RB (I know he's hurt, but will wait 2-3 weeks for him as I'm currently 6-2 in my league), and still have Larry Fitzgerald, Dwayne Bowe, Donnie Avery, Devin Hester, and Steve Breaston at WR. And only 2 WR spots to play each week. So, would you do the trade if it meant your lineup will look like this in about 3-4 weeks when play-off time hits? QB- Cutler/Delhomme RB- Portis RB- Forte RB/WR- Bush WR- Fitzgerald WR- Bowe/Avery TE- Winslow DEF- Eagles K- Gould
  6. I think that's a good question. I really feel like Brown should not be re-signed as of now. As for Orton, we should probably wait until the off-season. I mean, I absolutely love the way he's playing and think he will be our QB for the foreseeable future, but I want to see him do it a whole season just to be careful. And Lloyd has been hurt too much to warrant an extension as of now. If he comes back healthy and goes back to being our #1 WR, then an extension in the off-season would be good. I guess that leaves St. Clair. I really think he has played tremendously this year, and even if he just reverts back to super-sub status, he's still a guy I want on our team for the next couple years.
  7. I hate that so many Bears fans are so pessimistic and that others act like nothing is ever wrong... I just try to take things in stride, and while I'm not gonna act like JA has done a superb job, I'm not gonna act like he's a bad GM either. JA is pretty solid and while he has made some big mistakes, every good GM has... I'll say this, though: If you try to fault JA for a bad draft last year like someone posted above, you can't really include picks from rounds 5-7. Most of those picks on ANY team would have been cut. He made a great pick with Forte, a very solid pick with Harrison, Bennett will be a contributor for many years, and the jury is out on Williams. You honestly can't say if it was a good or bad pick until the guy plays. And, quite frankly, I can't believe Steltz hasn't done better. I think most people thought he'd be a contributor.
  8. yep... so frustrating to think about. But, at least we got the win tonight, and held a 4th quarter lead - something we haven't been able to do the last 2 weeks.
  9. It was sarcasm... You still haven't said why drafting a WR would be bad. I assume it's b/c you'd rather draft an offensive lineman, which I would completely be in favor of if we did. I just don't think the Bears would draft a 1st round OT and go into next year with (essentially) 2 1st time starters at the OT spot. That's why I could see them going OT/OG in Round 2 and again in the 3rd or 4th round, letting those guys develop and giving Tait one more year. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the supposedly terrible offensive line is not the reason we've lost a single game this year. They've actually played well.
  10. I had no idea Roy Williams was a FA next year. He'd be a perfect fit as the #1 WR we've needed for years now. As for Free Agency, I'd also look at Matt Cassel depending on how he plays the rest of the year. Trading for Brady Quinn has to be explored as well. I was not a Quinn fan at all when he was coming out of college, but with our current situation, every scenario needs to be looked at. As for the 1st above draft, Loadholt and Brinkley will go higher than you have us taking them. Robinson is a fantastic OG. I love the Southerland pick. And Cook and Turner would be good values in those rounds. For the fun of it, I guess I'll post my own mock draft that you guys can rip apart, lol. Btw, this is assuming we have a pick in the late teens/early 20s and not accounting for any free agent signing. Just kind of based off our current team... Round 1 - Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland Round 2 - Kraig Urbik, OG, Wisconsin Round 3 - Derek Pegues, S, Mississippi State Round 3 - Rhett Bomar, QB, Sam Houston State (formerly at Oklahoma) Round 4 - Ramon Foster, OT, Tennessee Round 5 - Brennan Southerland, FB, Georgia Round 6 - Tyrell Sutton, RB, Northwestern Round 7 - Brandon Pearce, OT, Memphis
  11. You have to be 3 years out of high school to enter the NFL Draft. Basically, you have to be a Junior or redshirt Sophomore. Benn is a true sophomore (2 years removed from his high school graduation).
  12. Benn is not eligible for the draft this year. However, Luigs is a complete stud and would be awesome in the 2nd round.
  13. Kellen Davis is one well-built man
  14. Okay, well, Ainge sucks, so don't worry about missing out on him. But, yeah, there's a bit of an overreaction on this board right now... I'm not exactly thrilled with the draft either, but I'm sure as hell not gonna knock it. Angelo does have a very good record of drafting players.
  15. I couldn't agree more with everything you said.
  16. Damn, I would love that if it were to happen. But, since it's in a mock draft, it wont... lol
  17. Hahaha Not sure if no one else picked up on it, or just didn't want to respond...
  18. Todd McShay sucks... I guess he's supposed to be the next Mel Kiper, but how the hell does he have any credibility. Truthfully, I think I know more (or at least as much) about the draft than he does, and he gets paid to strictly follow it all year.
  19. I really don't see the problem with keeping 4 RBs. You can't cut Wolfe at this point. He does very well when he gets out in space and is hard to bring down one on one b/c of his low center of gravity and shiftiness. It allows him to keep on his feet and gain a few extra yards out of a play. He'll never be a guy that you run straight up the middle b/c a DL or LB with just flat him head on. But, what you do is throw him a screen pass or pitch him the ball, and it gives him an opportunity to make something happen.
  20. Just wanted to point something out: I've seen a few posts on this board talking about getting Michael Oher in the 2nd round if we don't draft a OT in the 1st. Um, that's not going to happen. He's a mid-late first rounder at the latest right now. However, factoring in how freakishly athletic he is, plus the fact that he's relatively new to football, I could easily see him tearing up the combine and getting picked only after Long and maybe Clady. However, I don't think he'll declare for the draft, so it's kind of a moot point. As for getting Mendenhall, I'd love to have him on the Bears. I believe he will be a pro-bowl caliber RB. But, you have to address OL first and foremost. I agree that he'll be the 2nd back taken and we just have too many other needs to get him with our 1st pick.
  21. Not exactly. You have to be able to read defenses, be mobile in the pocket, etc. There's a lot more than just having a good arm to make all the throws.
  22. Too bad the refs screwed over the Giants big time, particularly in the 1st half, just like they did to the Ravens when they played the Pats. Not saying the Giants didn't have their chances, because they did. But, they sure weren't helped out much by the refs. i.e. 3rd and 14 when Brady was sacked that turned into a 5-yards penalty and automatic 1st down b/c of the DB barely touching the WR. But, if you wanna get technical and say the DB grabbed the reciever, the WR pushed back so it the two fouls should have been canceled out, and the Pats should have had to punt. Instead, they went down and scored a TD. Oh, and how about when Jacobs was being held down then pushed by that old ass pussy Junior Seau (most likely b/c Seau missed an arm tackle on Jacobs the previous play, which allowed Jacobs to gain like 10 more yards), and then the refs charging the Giants with a timeout b/c of the stoppage of play. Thank god they finally got the call right, but only b/c of overwhelming evidence that Seau was in the wrong. Then, while the refs are convening, Wilfork or Warren (can't remember) tries to start something again by reaching through Jacobs' facemask and poking him. But of course, nothing is called. Get the F*ck outta here... I am still so infuriated by the Patriots undefeated season. It was a bunch of bullshit. I will never consider them on par with the '85 Bears. Funny thing is, if a team like the Colts had a chance to go undefeated, I'd root for them. But, when those smug-ass Boston fans talk all this shit (and believe me, i know. I live with a guy who was born and raised there), and meanwhile, ESPN can't get enough of them b/c we all know there's an East-Coast bias there, well, I just can't stand them. I really hope they lose in the playoffs b/c then this whole "miracle" season will not be remembered. Yeah, people will talk about it, but if they don't win the Super Bowl, they won't be seen in the same light. Makes me wanna puke...
  23. If McFadden (or Orange Jesus if we get him) falls to us, I think we'd have to take him even with our biggest need being O-Line. He really has it all: size, speed, elusiveness, cut-back ability, everything. When he runs, he kind of "glides" out there. Looks so smooth. And, since we're lucky that this is an extremely deep OT class, we can find a guy capable of starting in the 2nd round. I mean, the Colts did get their starting rookie LT (Tony Ugoh) in the 2nd round last year, and he has played very well. And in the case of us not getting McFadden (which I don't think we will), we should draft an OT. Or at least trade down and get extra picks, while still drafting an OT in the 1st. It all starts up front. We need to re-build this O-line to compete next year. My best case scenario: 1- McFadden 2- Best OT left (Hills/Williams/Cousins) 3- S or best OG available 3- S or best OG available My most likely scenario: 1- Clady/Oher/Otah 2- OG (Eric Young, Tennessee?) or another OT (Chris Williams, Tony Hills, Oniel Cousins, Barry Richardson) 3- D.J. Hall 3- Barrett/Steltz/Hefney Basically, my thinking with this scenario is that we take two top O-lineman and let them figure out where they'll play. For instance, Oher could play OG, if Hills were to show he was a very good LT. If this was our O-line next year, I'd be pretty excited b/c even if they were young, it would be very talented: LT- 1st round pick LG- Young/St. Clair/FA C- Kreutz RG- Garza/St. Clair/FA RT- Tait
  24. So, using that list, I guess I'd have to say... The Good: Tommie Harris Bernard Berrian Nathan Vashar Devin Hester Mark Anderson Greg Olsen Trumaine McBride The Bad: Tank Johnson (just awful character) Leon Joe (only b/c he didn't even make the team out of training camp and was a 4th rounder) The rest is To Be Determined. I think we need another year to know what to consider Benson, Dvoracek, Manning, Bradley, Bazuin, Wolfe, and Orton. They all have a chance to prove themselves, so none can be considered a bad pick yet. i.e. If Bradley plays like we've seen at times; Bazuin becomes an Alex Brown-type - decent pass rusher and run stuffer --> does neither thing exceptionally well, but good enough to be a good/very good starter; Wolfe develops niche as a 3rd down, scat back; Manning locks up the FS spot with better tackling and recognition of plays; Benson runs like the was beginning to in that last 2 games before he got hurt. I have to believe he'll be better next year with a hopefully re-vamped and improved O-Line) And I really can't consider anything after the 4th round a "bad" pick b/c those guys don't typically ever contribute, if they make the team at all.
