http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...-for-the-bears/ Changes coming for the Bears Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 13, 2011, 8:44 AM EDT ReutersIt’s desperation time in Chicago. The Bears were just embarrassed on national television. A loss this week at home to the Vikings would send the season from troubling to nearly hopeless. Expect changes to be made. “We’re not pleased with some of the performances we’ve gotten,” coach Lovie Smith. “I, of course, never talk about changes we’re going to make, especially before we hit the practice field and we talk to the guys.” CSNChicago.com’s John Mullin writes that the Bears will shake up thei…

The Bears will have an open competition at the left guard spot between Beekman, Oakley and Metcalf. Who do you think should or will win this spot? St Clair look good at the spot late in the year and he also might be in the mix for it.

I know there's a lot of virtual high fives going on here today but damn if I don't find it a bit premature. Let's take a look... * The Bears are retaining Lovie Smith, a move I approve of, but in the process they're saddling the new GM with a coach he may not want. With that said, it could be that the Bears will really tell the new GM to make his choice and they'll cut Lovie loose later if that's the decision. This is a big unknown. Meanwhile Lovie is left hanging with no OC. * Speaking of that OC, Cutler will need to learn yet another system. This isn't impossible but it doesn't give me warm fuzzies either. Who will it be? Guys, we could end up with Sh…

Good article. I heard a clip from Pat Fitzgerald today. He said Wootten will be the first in and last out at the practice facility and said he will do whatever he can to help make the team better. He is all about supporting his team. Peace http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...ht-wootton.html

  6. The Chargers are 2-5, and are in worse shape than the Bears somehow. Keenan Allen DNP on Thursday due to a hamstring injury. McManis is the only Bear listed on report. Derwin James, like Hicks is out. This is a great game to get the running game going as the Chargers are 21st against the run. All of the Chargers losses (5) have been by a TD or less. I have very little faith in this team, but based on what I have seen from the news conferences and media interviews, the team finally seems to be pissed off. Hopefully, they take it out on the Chargers this week. I am predicting a dominant performance with a defensive TD. Bears roll 27-13

After spending most of their air time praising the Chargers and giving them credit for fighting through multiple injuries ESPN analysts were lost when talking about the Bears, especially after the game was over. Did you know the Chargers had to play with several backup Oline players? Poor Chargers. Did you see the Chargers were missing two of their top 3 WRs? Blah blah blah... let's play some football! Oline: Not a whole lot of goodness here with plenty of mistakes all the way around but for the most part the offense was effective enough in the run game and passing game. Ducasse again lined up at LG so he'll be on the bench when Grasu returns leaving Omam…

How long before this guy gets reps with the 1st team at RT? Mills by all accounts has not looked good so far while Leno has seemingly played well when he's gotten a shot at LT (when Bushrod had a day off Sat). I think this coaching staff is far from settled on who our top 5 Oline are and I'm not sure I'd move Long out to RT as everyone else wants to do. We have Montgomery (a career backup C) or Grasu (a rookie) in the middle and I'd much rather have either Center covered by Slauson/Long than Slauson/Ola/Groy/Ducasse. We can help someone like Leno/Mills at RT with Bennett or just have the RBs chip that way too. No matter what we might think nobody really knows how we…

Projected 5th-6th round, so some value here. I was figuring OL or LB with this pick, so it makes sense. He seems like he may stick around to fill a backup role, but better suited for OG.

  13. I remember the buzz about the UDFA signing of Charles Snowden and like Trevis Gipson he was a DE also that the previous regime thought was a LB! I'm thinking that this is another sleeper in the mist.

His market value is pretty low with all younger guys cut. .. Pretty sure he retires a bear. I still think we draft a starter in the 3rd or 4th. ..

Some people are just capable of doing something amazing in their lives. Some run, sing, play the piano, etc. Idiot savant stuff. Tillman has been able to strip a ball since, I suspect, birth. I can picture it now... His big brother comes up, grabs a toy from Tillman. P-Nut calmly tracks his brother down from behind, and rips the ball clean.

I looked at some stats today and found a nugget of interesting data. But first, what does the media spew out all the time about "Lovie Smith's defense"? OMG! They're going to strip the ball. They're going to get turnovers. Well, guess what? They're tied for 13th in the NFL in terms of forced fumbles with 14. And on top of that, only three teams in the top 16 recover less of those forced fumbles. >TEAM FF REC PER KC 15 16 106.67% DEN 14 13 92.86% PHI 23 21 91.30% NYJ 18 16 88.89% BUF 15 13 86.67% PIT 19 15 78.95% ARI 14 11 78.57% TEN 17 12 70.59% MIA 18 12 …

Among this WR class Claypool is way down the list and is ranked as a 4-6th Rd pick. As a WR he's not really running away from anyone but he's still got good enough speed to get deep. At 6'4" and reportedly around 230lbs is he a good fit for the U-TE position Burton plays?
