Don't get me wrong, I certainly recognize that Mendy is the better prospect, and the "hometown boy" and could very well be a better player in the pros. I was also a little disappointed we didn't get him. But as far as the skills they bring, they both are basicially one-year wonders who catch the ball well and don't have great timed speed. Forte is more suspect coming from a lower level of competition, but he's also coming from a more pro-style offense, from what I've seen. But, looking at the combine numbers, they seem pretty similar to me: Forte Mendy Height 6'1" 5'10" Weight 217 225 40d 4.44 4.41 2…

Okay, conspiracy theory in me here. Some years back, Angelo had a coach he didn't want. At that time, think back on how active we were in FA. Something between little and nothing was added in FA. Angelo did VERY little to upgrade this team during that time, and it showed in how weak our personnel was. Then Jauron is gone, and he gets the coach he wants in Lovie. Nearly immediately, he begins to be a player in FA. We then see him making some big moves like adding Tait, Wale and Moose, among others. Now look at this offseaosn. It starts out w/ all the talk from Lovie indicating he believes the team has the talent, and only coaching has held them b…

I'd be happy with this: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/ins...tory?id=4054695 It's almost been a month since Todd McShay and I released our dual mock drafts, and a lot has changed. We've seen most of the pro days for draft-eligible players that enable them to showcase their abilities in a comfortable environment, and we've gotten the results from some of the private workouts that some of the top players have to go through for teams. Below is a look at how I see the first four rounds shaking out at this point in the predraft process. 1. Detroit Lions (Record: 0-16) Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia: Stafford is worthy of being the No. 1 …

PFT is talking about Miami's QB situation. W/ Pennington added, and you have to believe Henne is a lock, that will leave one spot for two other QBs, McCown and Beck. McCown was signed in the offseason, and got some bonus money too. Beck was a 2nd round pick in 2007. One is likely to go. They make some points why Beck could be on the block, or cut. It could be McCown, but I think there is enough logic to make Beck a reasonable choice. Anyway, I know all here have fallen in love w/ Hanie, but if Beck were available, what are the thoughts. I don't know a ton about him. He wasn't very impressive as a rookie, but was a rookie, and on Miami. He was a 2nd rou…

https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/554307516868595712 I heard early reports that he was not interested, but that was before the Ravens were eliminated. I would not be opposed to him, and like it was mentioned in another thread, he does have ties to Cutler/Marshall from Denver.

Mulligan of the Sun Times said the following, "It's a reason why anyone who thinks Muhammad was a bad free-agent signing by the Bears is uninformed. " For the record, part of his reasoning was/is that MM was a great run blocking WR, a role that is under-appreciated w/ WRs. Further, after stating that only the uninformed would consider MM a bad FA signing, he then mentions Thomas Smith (CB) who was signed back in 2000. I would agree Smith was a worse signing. I would even agree he was a far worse signing. But that doesn't mean MM was a good signing. As I recall, MM signed w/ the bears in early '05 to a 6 year deal. I full value of the contract varied, a…

I'm hoping to hear that at least one of the three rook LB's we just drafted "hits like a ton of bricks and has an outstanding nose for the football." It would be great if they said that about all of them... I'm expecting to hear Alshon is "all that" and a slice of cheese. I'm hoping to hear that Hardin is out there. Did he show up in April, I can't recall? I'm also expecting to hear something like "the tremendous depth we have now in the OL is going to make for great competition". I'm hoping to hear someone other than a coach say Long is a ferkin' stud so we can all stop the whining. Will the unsigned guys show up? Anything in the new CBA that precl…

...that I don't think Mendenhall will fall to slot 14. Given that, I do hope we shoot for OL. There should be enough top tier guys for us to nab one at that point.

Noots’ Notes-Game 1: 21-15 Loss to Green Bay By Michael Nudo The Bears fell to Green Bay in their opener. Jay Cutler’s 4 interceptions were too much to overcome. Fallen Angel (AP Photo/Jim Prisching). OFFENSE Quarterback Jay Cutler (17-36-277, TD, 4 INTs, 3/16) took too many chances with the football. He kept some plays alive with his feet, but threw the ball into coverage far too often. He had some really nice throws, especially the 68-yard bomb to Johnny Knox and the 36-yard touchdown to Devin Hester. He needs to be more patient, and hit the checkdowns to his tight ends and running backs. His moving in the pocket also led to some inaccurate thr…

Lost in the frustration in the loss against MIami is the fact that, quietly, Trubisky has moved into 7th place in QB Rating in the NFL. He sits behind Mahomes (5th and trending down) and Goff (6th) and ahead of in descending order: Wilson, Wentz, Cousins, Rodgers, Brady, Roethlisberger, Dalton, Stafford, Newton, Watson, Carr, Luck, Prescott, among others. As I always say QB Rating has it's demerits so I'm not married to it as the best way, or even a good way, to evaluate QBs. Nonetheless 7 games into the season there is some statistical relevance to it. His surge forward two weeks ago was "solely" because of Tampa's bad defense. He continued playing well ov…

Why does Jay get slammed to the ground with his head pounding the ground but Aaron Rodgers barely gets his face mask touched and gets a 15 yard penalty. Officiating is a joke.
