Looks like John Fox places personality over production Email Facebook Twitter Steve Rosenbloom THE ROSENBLOG Recent Columns 1 of 91 JOHN J. KIM / CHICAGO TRIBUNE Bears tight end Martellus Bennett 9:57 am, March 17, 2016 It doesn’t matter whether you’re productive. It only matters whether John Fox thinks you’re all football, all the time, and nothing but football and don’t even think about writing a book or even reading one. That’s the message of the Bears reportedly trading their best tight end to the Patriots along with a sixth-round draft pick in exchange for a fourth-rounder. I suppose Fox feels better, even if his team…

I hate him almost as much as I hate Dan Snyder. No way the Cowboys were going to beat the Packers anyway (sorry to say). Can't wait to see the Pack get destroyed in the SB (they will beat NY). Peace

Say hi to the rest of the Long family. Bears have to win this game to stay in the playoff hunt.

In this game it became clearly obvious that Lovie Smith has lost this team. Ron Turner ran four consecutive plays up the gut for no gain when the Bears clearly should have gone up 14-3 in the second quarter. The next play run by the Vikings goes quickly for a 99 yard TD reception to Berrian of all people is pretty sad. Shows that the defense was not completely thinking about all the scenarios that were possibly coming at them. Then if you look at the sidelines as NBC showed them, the entire team seemed to have their heads down and had this "We Are Defeated" look all about them. To me, this just goes to show how far this team has slipped since the debacle in Miami for…

  6. I mean, he is a freakin DT. Where on earth will this end? Look at where is gotten to in the last 10 yrs. Bruce Smith made 2.2M 10 yrs ago. He was a premier player. Dwight Freeney got his deal last yr at 6 yrs 72M, 30 guaranteed. Even using simple math, thats 12M per yr. based on the same rate of growth, that implies that 10 yrs from now, that a premier guy like Smith or Freeney is going to make what? 72M a year unless something is done. These salaries have gotten completely out of hand. Hell, Deion Sanders was the highest paid NFL player 10 yrs ago and he was paid 4.9M a Yr and people were going gaga over that. How can the small market teams survive, let alone compet…

This off-season my biggest cry was to fix the OL 1st. It was addressed in a big way with Williams, but has been ignored otherwise with a huge void in OG play. With our current situation playing out... I’m calling it like I see it with the OL: 1)Turnover - we have lost 40% of an underachieving unit that must play as a whole to be successful. 2)Durability – Williams out 10 days and counting, Metcalf is getting fluid drained from his knees, Kruetz has an achilles problem, Garza OK but missing an ACL. 3)Continuity – We are going into our 1st pre-season game and our 1st rounder has failed to take a snap with the team in TC, our swing tackle is our best L…

  8. Funny that this game is on Halloween because it is going to be scary bad. It's pretty telling that a 2-4 team is favored on the road against a 3-4 team. Vegas has zero faith in the Bears. SF is reeling, having lost 4 straight. Their wins are over PHI and DET. This is a bad team. There is no reason the Bears should lose or be underdogs at home against a team like this. Jimmy G has been terrible and they have literally one player on offense you need to worry about, Deebo Samuel. He has more receiving yards than the rest of the team combined. He has more yards and TDs than ARob and Mooney combined. This is a must-win. If you lose to 2-4 team at home for a 3rd str…

Here are some second round reasons why the Bears shouldn't pick Rashard Mendenhall in the first round. (In no particular order) Ray rice Felix Jones Matt Forte There are quite a few RB that look like they will be able to improve the run game. I personally want Chris Johnson because I still believe speed kills (4.24). But there is a strong possiblity Jonathan Stewart will fall to the Bears because of his injury.

We are well into the negotiating period for FA and I haven't found any rumors about Trevathan. I scanned all the usual suspects nfl.com, si.com, cbssports, and Walterfootball and there is nothing out there. That is odd for a player who figures to be the top ILB available in FA, especially considering the media circus surrounding the Superbowl winner's free agents. I did find this: http://beargoggleson.com/2016/03/07/signs-...-chicago-bears/ The silence doesn't add up for such a high profile FA and the quick change of direction by other potential suitors indicates something was said behind the scenes. Tomorrow the media circus, distracted by Manning's reti…

  14. This is a must win, beat the teams you are supposed to beat. Bradford is brutal and probably won't last a quarter. Johnson does not look the same since coming back from injury and Fitzgerald is the only receiving threat. I want to see a full game this time, with significant progress for the offense and Trubisky. After seeing Mayfield come in and play like he did, there are no more excuses for Trubisky, especially against this defense. I would like to see another step from Roquan and see the team close another game out. Bears 27-10

Sign Mike Sims-Walker: 5 years, $20 million. 1. Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin ---The Bears had 3 scouts at Wisconsin's pro day. If he's there, he's the pick. 2. Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State ---I can't imagine he'll fall this far, but if he does, he should be the selection. 3. Rock Carmichael, CB, Virginia Tech ---Carmichael had a good year and is a winner. In round 3, this should be a good time to find a guy to replace Jennings in a year or 2. 4. Kris O'Dowd, C, USC ---O'Dowd can sit a year behind Kreutz. 5. Jah Reid, OG, Central Florida ---The Bears need some OG depth, badly. 6. Dion Lewis, RB, Pittsburgh ---This is iffy because apparently Taylo…

After watching Texas and Ohio State, Kelvin Banks is not worthy of a top 20 pick. JT and Jack Sawyer has taken him to school The whole DL of Ohio State moved up the draft ladder. Jake Wilson/ OC has held his own against a awesome DL.
