Changing the vibe around here, since there is nothing to talk about post-draft, I'd like to discuss what appears to be bad form by our new LB, Jon Bostic. I've heard guys from the NFL to DII officiating say they are trying to take the helmet/head out of hitting, and Bostic needs to make an adjustment. What's more, I watched his and there are several more high hits with bad form. He dips his head to hit, rarely sees his target, and doesn't wrap up. Unless he changes his technique, you can guarantee this guy is going to get penalties for the Bears.

For some time, I have wonder if many of the problems we have on the team center around a simple lack of talent, or inability of the coaching staff. More than in recent past, I seem to be reading articles talking about how we run camp, which just really puts a focus on our coaches. For example, for years I have seen our players exhibit some very questionable tackling. Then I read about how we do not really allow our players to tackle, or to finish tackles, in camp. Its more like we practice flag football in camp. The point was made, how can you work on tackling technique when you are not allowed to tackle? But for this, what I am curious about is the OL. The Bears were favorites for this game a few weeks ago, now 1 point underdogs. Arizona just beat Miami, Harrison Jr, McBride, and Conner all had huge games. This is looking like a pretty complete offense and the defense got a safety against MIA, and they only won by 1. At this point, it really is going to come down to which Bears team shows up. If it is the one that won 3 straight, the Bears should win this game handily. If it is the team that just played Washington, it is going to be tough because ARZ has some playmakers on offense. I know it is early to talk draft, but building things is an interest of mine. Right now we are on the bye week and sitting at around a top 10 pick. Talkbears is a site I enjoy because it is small and the group that participates has passion and knowledge. I have spent nearly 15 years here it seems give or take. Considering that Slasson hasn't played center much in his career he did a nice job on short notice with one bad snap and one bad exchange. Charles Leno Jr wasn't a train wreck at left tackle and Omameh wasn't awful either. Kyle Long and Ducasse seem to be settling in on the right side. The Indy game was crazy, Luck got some luck when Brown fumbled in the Red Zone and the ball bounced off a players helmet right to Luck who dove into the endzone. Glad to see Philly lose, but their offensive performance against the Saints really showed how bad our defense was. Brees throws 2 INTs and wins. McCoy longest run was 11 yards. GO SF!!!!

We used to do a mock draft where people were GMs of different teams and we drafted in order, day by day, leading up to the draft. We don't have enough members to do that properly, but an easy alternative is doing a top 15 Mock Draft. I can consolidate the selections and produce a TalkBears consensus mock draft. Thoughts?

We have players hitting players in training camp and I couldn't be happier. We'll have to see the results but after a decade or so of watching lousy tackling and less than physical play in the first few games of the regular season because Lovie and Trestman didn't like hitting in camp this is very welcome news. We have already had one fight and they weren't even in pads. So while I'm not promoting fights I am promoting the fact that you need to work hard to beat the guy on the other side of the line and that means taking it right up to the limit. Unfortunately, we can shelve that pipe-dream; Mike Martz just went to the Niners. Why is it that the Bears can never get an offensive coordinator who is capable of turning the offense into a weapon feared throughout the league? Oh, wait, we had that guy, and he just got done engineering a great game to win the BCS Championship last night. (Hate how un-Bearlike it may have been, and how it put the defense in bad shape at times, he made our offense a threat that it hasn't been since, and hadn't been for some time before.) The no-call pass interference in the New England/Carolina game could end up costing us a playoff spot. The most-watched sport in the US should have full-time referees who know what they are doing and can actually keep up with the athletes on the field. Peace

I don't see any way this team magically rebounds after that loss, not with only walk-thrus this week.
