  1. Started by adam,

2-15 is a real possibility. Underdogs in every remaining game. Then what? Would that change your outlook on Poles, Flus, Getsy, Fields? For me it would. I know they are not all equal, but man, 2 wins and what could be 14 straight losses to end the season? I doubt that happens, they will probably luck into a win or two and go 3-14 or 4-13, but 5 wins is really a success now, which is disappointing given the start. The craziest part is this team is literally 3-4 plays away from 5-1. Then if you go the other way, they could also easily be 0-6. So I have mixed feelings. I just have a feeling (after 6 games) that Poles is not it. Velus pick was bad and l…

  2. I haven't watched or even noticed a thing the Washington Football Team has done this year. It appears their HC blames the QB for their 1-4 record so that's cool: https://commanderswire.usatoday.com/2022/10/10/ron-rivera-on-why-other-nfc-east-teams-are-ahead-of-washington-commanders-quarterback-carson-wentz/ Of course he's backpedaling as fast as he can but on a short week there is no better way to get your 1-4 team fired up to go on the road for a nationally televised broadcast where every single player has to answer the "QB" question. WFT offense: Passing 6th in yds but they are bottom 4 in Rushing. but they've tossed 6 INTs. WFT defense: Pas…

  3. Now that we all know, let's fix it. The great rebuild is what we thought it would be. Painful. While I'm good with the pain, I'm not good with how it's being dispensed. I get the feeling that Poles and Eberflus are using this season to evaluate Fields instead of develop him. That being said, they are probably trying to see what he's good and bad at, so they can put the appropriate talent around him to succeed. What I want them to do is gameplan around what he does best for him to succeed. It's a subtle difference that can have a happy medium. This off season is going to be a monster and Poles has to be licking his chops. Don't doubt for a second that Field…

This is what the Bears will be facing between now and the next GB game. QBR Rating: Week 4 - Jones - 27th - Jones is terrible Week 5 - Cousins - 20th - it depends on what Cousins shows up Week 6 - Wentz (TNF) - 24th - Wentz was sacked 9 times by JAX Week 7 - Jones/Hoyer - 25th - Jones hurt, Hoyer may start Week 8 - Rush - 3rd - It seems like he has peaked and will only come down once there is tape on him. Week 9 - Tua - 1st - I don't think he is this good or will be able to keep this up all season. Week 10 - Goff - 8th - Goff is way too high for who he is, he will come down too. Week 11 - Mariota - 12th - Surprisingly high for what looked like a ca…

  6. Sorry Adam, I've been waiting but we gotta get this in gear. I don't expect much with Whitehair and Montgomery out this week. Things will only be tougher on Fields in the passing game and without Montgomery this week we'll struggle again to get the tough yards (3rd and short) where Herbert struggles. However the Vikings, despite being 3-1, are bottom third in both pass and run defense so they don't appear to be as good as they were in years past. They are also going through a transition to a new scheme under our former coach Ed Donatell. Just like us there are likely some growing pains. On offense they are 21st in rushing yards, but 12th in pa…

For the draftniks out there who are y'all watching on Saturdays? I'm guessing we'll land at 15 overall and could be as high as 10th. The top player I want is Jalen Carter DT but he'll be long gone before we draft. The next DT who might still be on the board is Bresee who can also play 3-tech and has the motor we want. He seems to be more 1-gap style vs. 2-gap so might still be around for us. Beyond that I'm not seeing anyone jump out at a position of need. I'm not that enamored with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, not that high anyway. Maybe Boutte but I can't watch these clips and say that's the WR I want 15th overall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Cda_oTnIBQ …

  8. Started by adam,

So wow, a lot to unpack already this year. So starting from the top, this team could easily be 0-3-1 right now and that is how it feels. In 4 weeks, there have been so few bright spots, it is incredible that this team is so how 2-2. I can't tell if there are halftime adjustments or the other team's get conservative and allow the Bears to run the ball more AND the also play more conservative and score less - or the defense is actually playing better in the second half. The entire offense is hot mess. In every passing week, it just seems more and more like either Fields is not the guy, or the team doesn't trust him and are not planning for him to be the long-term solut…

So Allen Robinson is who we thought he was. Has anyone else watch the Rams games? He is literally jogging routes out there and barely blocks the refs. In 4 games, he has 9 receptions and 95 yards and is on pace for 38 receptions and 400 yds receiving. I am sure it will go up but not that much. He will probably end up with a season similar to last season's loaf-a-thon. The sad part is he would lead the Bears in receptions! That is how bad the passing attack has been. Somewhere Dowell Loggains is smiling.

So Gordon got completely shredded last night on multiple plays (no help from Jackson on one of them), but the alternative in the 2nd Round was a WR. There were 6 WRs selected after Gordon in the 2nd Round (and before Velus Jones). Here are there stats after 2 weeks: Wan'Dale Robinson 1-5 John Metchie - no stats Tyquan Thornton - no stats George Pickens 2-26 Alec Pierce - no stats Skyy Moore 1-30 Pickens may have the best chance to pan out, maybe one of the injured guys does, but I don't know if any of them would help our putrid offense right now. If Mooney has only 2 receptions, most of these guys wouldn't even have a target on the Bears yet.

  12. Giants are playing tonight, so I wanted to start this thread before the game. It will be interesting to see if they win and start the season 3-0. I thought the initial line of Bears -3 was very telling. Vegas thinks this is an even game on a neutral field. They will have the short week. Without the 3rd game for the Giants, the team stats will be a little skewed, but I will update later. Right now for comparison sake: Pts scored - CHI - 20th, NYG - 16th Pts allowed - CHI - 12th, NYG - 8th Total Yards - CHI - 31st, NYG - 22nd Total Yards Against - CHI - 20th, NYG - 13th INTs - CHI - 3, NYG - 0 Sacks - CHI - 6, NYG - 3 …

There are a couple plays I disagree with him especially the first one because that is a bad pass. Overall the breakdown does explain a few of the bad plays but also shows some positive stuff that I didn't pick up during the game such as Fields switching the play from pass to the Herbert 50yd run. He's still locked on some reads too long but it's still early in the season.

You wouldn't think the Bears were a first place team, but that is what the standings say. Sitting on top with GB and Minn. Gives the team a reason to cobtinue to show up.

157 yards on 20 carries, 2 TD, 2 receptions, 12 yards. There have only been 18 games since 2002 where a player had 150+ yds, on 20 or less carries, at least 2 TDs, 2 receptions, and 10+ receiving yards. 16 players to do it, Tomlinson and Jonathan Taylor are the only 2 to do it twice ( from 2002-2022). The last 5 before Herbert were Taylor x2 (20/21), Aaron Jones (20), McCaffrey (19), Chubb (19), and LeSean McCoy in 2016.

It seems like the rust is finally off. What a game he had. In 3 games, Smith leads the NFL in total tackles (T-36), has 0.5 sacks, 2 TFLs, 1 INT, and 2 Passes Defended. If he can keep up this pace and get a couple of FF's he will be looking at a big contract. He is on pace for over 200 total tackles.

  19. The Bears are favored!!!!!, by 2.5, which means on an neutral field, HOU would be -0.5 lol. Interestingly enough, this team is like the Spiderman meme with the Bears. Both have the same amount of pts scored, are near the bottom in the league in yards (Bears 32, Texans 28), have almost the same amount of pts against, same amount of sacks (5), and both teams cannot stop the run (Bears 32, Texans 30). The biggest differences are the Bears have a much better rushing game (8 v 27), which plays into the Texans' weakness, and the Texans give up a ton more passing yds (270 vs 183), good for a Fields get right game. Just based on yardage, the Texans do nothing wel…

Looks like a possible high ankle and MCL sprain. That would be 4-6 weeks, if any tears, it might be longer. Tough blow in a contract year, but on the flip side, Herbert looked really good.
