I went to a KFFL article to check out the 2009 FA Class Article and found some interesting names on the list. In regards to free agent WRs that might be available (some may have already signed extensions since this article was put up or may sign before the FA period begins): TJH from CIN I think is a true #1 WR who could start as a #1 on any team in the NFL. For my entire life the Chicago Bears have been portrayed as blue collar, hard nosed, black and blue, great defense and great running game. It hasn't worked for over 30 years! Time fix it, once and for all. We have a chance to create the greatest offense we have ever had. It all begins with my tag line from the old site, "IT ALL STARTS UP FRONT". It's time! Jay Cutler is better than any free agent quarterback. The problem is he sucks and everybody hates him. So we could overpay for Mike Glennon. We can resign Brian Hoyer. There are a bunch of other mediocre QB's available--none of which would be an upgrade. If we take a guy at #3--it will be a reach and they won't be ready to play effectively this season. If we take a guy in the 2nd round--it'd be an even bigger project. We will likely do some combination of signing a bad QB and drafting a bad QB. Either way, for the immediate future, we are screwed at QB.

At this point, are we already just looking forward to the draft? Bears making stupid penalties, but get bailed out with an EZ interception. That's nice to see. And the OL is giving Hoyer a decent amount of time thus far. Of course, they're still running that "never ran it with Cutler"-offense, which adds a little something to it. Can't say I remember more than one or two naked bootlegs the entire time Cutler has been under center. Now with Hoyer? Once a drive. Go figure.

So if all things were equal, and you could choose one player at #14, who is it and why? Which Offensive Lineman fits the Bears the best? Would RB or WR be the best choice? Who is the best available at #14? I understand that ALL of them would not be available at #14, but more than likely a combination of them will be.

There's lots of bellowing about fixing the quarterback position. What bugs the hell out of me is that it's easy as hell to say, but not easy to fix. At LEAST 2/3's of the teams in the NFL are unhappy with their quarterback situation. (If not more) and the teams who are happy sure as hell ain't giving them up. I keep saying that this team has a very good shot of repeating what they did during the Superbowl year. I GMed the NFLfans Mock Draft this past weekend for the Bears over on www.nflfans.com, so I thought I'd let people know how things went (spoiler alert: BEST DRAFT EVER!). Ok, not really. Free agent Byron Leftwich says he's lost 25 pounds and wants to join a team for training camp. His first Rotoworld post in 17 weeks. Dropping 25 lbs off his playing weight would put Leftwich at 6'5/225 and possibly enhance his mobility. Bears personnel director Bobby DePaul called Leftwich "an interesting guy," but the 28-year-old QB hasn't had so much as a free agent visit. Perhaps the Bears will give him a call if Kyle Orton doesn't separate himself this summer.

OL was again a weakness on the Bears last season. With the recent announcement that Tait may be retiring, the OL will be rendered weaker than it was last season. Looking into the depth of our OL, tackle is the glaring need; with the most important tackle being the left. Tait provided insurance in the instance St. Clair and/or Williams failed. IMO - St Clair was borderline at best. I don't have a direct source, but I think I remember reading that he gave up the most sacks in the NFL last season. Since I wasn't able to post this yesterday, the newest Bears Fan arrived yesterday. Patrick Ormond weighed in at 6lbs 7 oz. Today is my first sons birthday, as is mine. Looks like December just got more expensive! LOL!

Who can be cut without detriment to the team? I don't give a damn if it's half the team, to be quite honest. I think Jared Allen is untouchable because of the money, but who else falls into that boat? The only players on defense who I want kept are cheap, good, or financial obligations. But I don't have a real interest in any except Jennings, Peanut, Fuller, Jones, Jennings, Young, and Paea.
