This off-season my biggest cry was to fix the OL 1st. It was addressed in a big way with Williams, but has been ignored otherwise with a huge void in OG play. With our current situation playing out... I’m calling it like I see it with the OL: 1)Turnover - we have lost 40% of an underachieving unit that must play as a whole to be successful. 2)Durability – Williams out 10 days and counting, Metcalf is getting fluid drained from his knees, Kruetz has an achilles problem, Garza OK but missing an ACL. 3)Continuity – We are going into our 1st pre-season game and our 1st rounder has failed to take a snap with the team in TC, our swing tackle is our best L…

Metcalf has knee problem Vaughn McClure, 12:22 p.m. Terrence Metcalf emerged from the dining room with a sleeve protecting his right knee. The left guard said he had the knee drained Friday after it swelled, and he's not sure how the injury occurred. "It's no big thing," he said. He expects to play in Thursday's exhibition against the Chiefs. And he expects to start if he does play. "Heck yeah, I'll be running with the first team," he said. Metcalf has yet to be cleared for Monday night's practice. Josh Beekman has been working at left guard in his place.

In looking at which QB starts for us, I read about many things each does well, but that got me thinking. What traits are going to be most important. Downfield passing is one that so often comes up, but simply not what I consider all that important. In a perfect world, it would be great to have a QB that can connent deep w/ his reciever, but I just question how much of our game will be centered about that. We have Hester to run downfield, but beyond the WR, or even the QB, I simply question our OL. How many here believe we have an OL that can pass protect long enough to allow WRs to run deep routes. IMHO, if we try to allow deep patterns to open up, we will see a…

apparently Brett Favre will be reinstated tomorrow and is in camp and will compete for the starting job with Rodgers. LOL Rodgers can't catch a break. Finally gets a chance to be the man and now he has to beat out a HOF QB. "hello bench and clipboard my old friends." It's been amusing to watch this play out. Not be a conspiracy theorist but what if the "open competition" could this be just a PR move and in their minds they want Rodgers to be the starter and win that competition. However, lets say that's the case, imagine the public perception here. Wouldn't the press and the fans alike see right through that? Could they realistically convince the …

Our special teams will be better this and be on top of the NFL once again. Sure we have a few holes to fill but that simple with all the players we have ready to step up. Gould is kicking the ball off well and they are going deep into the end zone. He has also made a 67 yard field goal in practice. Now if he can do this in a game then we have an added weapon. With hester changing field postion and a threat to take it all the way, making coaches not wanting to kick to him, and then you have Maynard the punter pinning the other team deep with kicks inside the 20.

  10. Im going to list divisions one by one every few days and when the season starts, throw them in the archive so we can see how everyone did. AFC North Pittsburgh Steelers 10-6 The Steelers will win the division and be the only playoff team in it. Losing Faneca will hurt their running game, especially Mendenhall who will be primarily used to run up the middle. Fast Willie and Big Ben will put up similar numbers to last season. Wards numbers will start to slip as Holmes and Heath Miller emerge as the primary receiving threats. Limas Sweed wont make a big impact this season. Drummond will be a great pick up to help their field position. Theyre defense will…

Anyone heard anything more about Kevin Jones? I know he was on the PUP list. So is that meaning he will be out until regular season or???? OUCH!! Bet he's glad those days are over.

The Bears Core is looking pretty good, as long a players develop JA will keep this team in good shape. Players in RED are ones that JA will have to decide on extending Players in GREEN are players if they step up big, can get rewarded early. The way I see it coming, the Bears will be working on extending Mike Brown if he stays healthy and Brandon McGowan if he produces. Grossman will get franchised only if he produces just to see if he can do it again. If Kevin Jones produces, he'll command a high salary and I just can't see the Bears giving it to him. If Brandon Lloyd produces, this may likely get done b/c I think Lloyd will be looking for long term secur…

A small quote from the article now posted on the Bears site: I know they said he was working on his kickoffs but wow, 7 yds deep into the end zone with 4.2 hang time. Now that is awesome. Our kickoff coverage guys will have an easy time being number one in the league if Robbie can deliver like that on a regular basis.

Right now we have a good team shaping up. But we could be even better if we got rid of Metcalf and went out and signed C/G Bentley. We just might lose Manning Jr, but we are good in the depth in the back secondary. We don't need Lynch....too slow now. If we are going to pick up a QB Farve would be a great addition, or Culpepper would be better if Farve didn't fall to us. I just don't like the idea of Henine being a starter if Rex/Orton get hurt. We know pepper could be the man with all the targets we have to throw to. Jones was my pick out of the RB'S

  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3512348 The Green Bay Packers, unable so far to trade Brett Favre and facing his arrival at training camp, are reportedly considering taking a step they desperately wanted to avoid: dealing him to a division rival. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing a source close to the situation, on Wednesday reported the Packers were considering seeking a deal with one of their rivals, most likely the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears, if all else fails.

Now HERE is a shot to get a player with experience in our system, who will provide legitimate depth, or possibly a starter, for our squad. from Profootballtalk.com: BRONCOS, LYNCH BREAKING UP Posted by Mike Florio on July 30, 2008, 11:04 p.m. The John Lynch era in Tampa ended after eleven years. In Denver, it lasted only four. According to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com, the Broncos and Lynch have agreed to go their separate ways. “I met with [coach] Mike [shanahan], and we both knew it wasn’t really working,” Lynch said. “To coach’s credit, he understood it and is allowing me to seek other opportunities. Just in my gut, it didn’t feel right anymor…
