One thought on one play that really stood out to me. Orton drops back to pass, and is engulfed by a wave of attackers. Long beats St. Clair and reaches, pushing Orton up in the pocket, but that pocket in general is collapsing. I seriously could not even see him, but somehow he gets a little shuttle pass off to Forte. Forte takes it, then has one hell of a (I believe) 7 yard run after the catch, as he breaks tackles and pushes his way forward. The Bears are still weak at WR3, Edge2, and need at least another rotational piece at DT with the loss of Jones. For upgrades, Center is the most obvious spot not listed. So priority seems to be WR/Edge, then DT, then Center. If they stand pat, they have #9, #75, and #122 to address those spots. They have talked about a big drop off in talent in this draft (due to players staying in school due to NIL), so there are fewer mid level players available. First time I ever setup a poll so if this doesn't work right I apologize. I will leave this up for a couple days to collect the votes. If there is not a clear winner (i.e. one player with 50% of the vote) I'll post a final poll with only the top two or three vote getters. From that the winner will be our draft choice. Pixote will be the honorary GM for this. He gets to vote as well but if we have a tie at the end, as GM he will make the final decision on who we draft. What a joke. That explains the hits on Cutler and Earl Bennett back in week 2 when they were blitzing all over. Halfway through the season, we are now 3-6. It's not where most thought we'd be, while it was with others. Sitting in year two of a massive rebuild, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Poles: he's brought over 60 new faces into Halas Hall in the last two years. He has taken us from relying on the likes of Germaine Ifedi, to having the makings of a solid offensive line. We have yet to see them all healthy this year to date. What other team has faced that? The Montez Sweat trade was huge. Great cap space and draft picks are again top of the league. The Bears just won back-to-back on the road, and 3 in a row. The schedule lightens up a little bit over the next month, but they cannot overlook the Saints on a short week. The Saints are 0-5 when they allow 20+ points and 1-0 when they allow 19 or less. They themselves only have one game where they scored more than 21 and that happened to be the only game their defense held their opponent under 20 (lol). That also happened to be the game where the Giants had 5 turnovers. So as long as the Bears don't have a crazy sloppy game like that, they should win by double digits. I just took a look at some of the receivers stats from the Broncos and Bears from 2008 to 2009. I was surprised at the huge dropoff from Royal (down 58 receptions and over 660 yards from a year ago). Now I know there are still 4 games to play, but that is a huge dropoff. Marshall and Scheffler are both down as well. There is a good chance that Marshall will be the only Bronco with more than 500 yards receiving. Compare that to Hester and Olsen, who both will surpass their 2008 totals (Hester already has). Even Forte is on tap to beat his 2008 totals for receiving. We will also more than likely have 5 receivers (including Forte), break 500 yards receiving. …

Sunday Night Football Real football is finally here. Last year, the Rams beat the Bears 24-10 in Week 7 in Chicago. The offense had 3 points in that game. Foles had 2 INTs and was sacked 4 times. If Dalton starts, it is hard to see how we passed the Rams in the offseason, as they gained Stafford, and lost Goff and Akers (who didn't play against the Bears). So to me, if Dalton plays the entire game, the Bears lose by double digits. If Fields plays at least a half, we have a shot. Either way, I have this one as a loss. Prove me wrong Bears.

It seems that if you take Smith, you should do so knowing there is a high risk that he doesn't play or is really just building himself back in 2016. I am okay with that risk, but it would be really interesting to see what the actual quacks are looking at and see when they review these guys. Makes you further appreciate those "medical" guys who end up just falling down draft boards despite "good" reports of health.
