  1. Started by adam,

2-15 is a real possibility. Underdogs in every remaining game. Then what? Would that change your outlook on Poles, Flus, Getsy, Fields? For me it would. I know they are not all equal, but man, 2 wins and what could be 14 straight losses to end the season? I doubt that happens, they will probably luck into a win or two and go 3-14 or 4-13, but 5 wins is really a success now, which is disappointing given the start. The craziest part is this team is literally 3-4 plays away from 5-1. Then if you go the other way, they could also easily be 0-6. So I have mixed feelings. I just have a feeling (after 6 games) that Poles is not it. Velus pick was bad and l…

  3. This is the draft following the 2005-2006 season. To set the scene, the Bears had just finished with the best defense in the NFL with only 12.6 points allowed per game. They were also 2nd best in total yards allowed per game and 11th in rush and 5th in passing yards allowed. The Bears had the 2nd most int's of any team that year. They were tied for most Defensive TD's and in the top 10 in sacks. The offense wasn't quite as productive. The Bears were 27th on points per game (16.3) and 29th in yards per game. The defense was good, the offense was putrid, so lets draft a lot of offense right? Well, not exactly. The Bears draft that year was as follows:…

    I didn't know this, but we have the exact same opponents as we did in 2006 (our last trip to the SB) and so far we have lost to the same exact 3 teams. Check out the similarities: -- 2006 / 2018 -- 1. DET 34-7 / 34-22 2. MIN 19-16 / 25-20 3. SEA 37-6 / 24-17 4. BUF 40-7 / 41-9 5. ARZ 24-23 / 16-14 6. NYJ 10-0 / 24-10 7. TB 34-31 / 48-10 8. DET 26-21 / 23-16 9. NYG 38-20 / 10. STL 42-27 / 11. GB 26-7 / 12. SF 41-10 / 13. MIN 23-13 / Losses 1. MIA 31-13 / 31-28 2. NE 17-13 / 38-31 3. GB 26-0 / 24-23

Outside of Special Teams, the 2018 Bears look to be equivalent or better across the board than the 2006 team based on positions. QB Grossman vs Trubisky - Not even a competition RB Jones/Benson vs Howard/Cohen - Fairly even production-wise but Cohen the X-Factor. WR Berrian/Muhammad/Davis vs Robinson/Gabriel/Miller - Fairly even top-2, but Miller takes the cake as the #3. TE/FB Clark/Gilmore/McKie vs Burton/Shaheen/Sims - Actually fairly even here with Clark and Burton with similar production. OL Tait/Brown*/Kreutz*^/Garza/Miller vs Leno/Daniels/Whitehair/Witzmann/Massie - Edge goes to 2006 team which only allowed Grossman to be sacked 2…

So if all things were equal, and you could choose one player at #14, who is it and why? Which Offensive Lineman fits the Bears the best? Would RB or WR be the best choice? Who is the best available at #14? I understand that ALL of them would not be available at #14, but more than likely a combination of them will be.

What are your thoughts on their performance so far? 1st - Williams 2nd - Forte 3rd - Bennett 3rd - Harrison 4th - Steltz 5th - Bowman 5th - Davis 6th - Baldwin (gone) 7th - ? Throw in Hanie as UDFA and DA and Roach who we snagged off of other teams practice squads. To me, this is actually shaping up as a fairly good group. Thoughts? Peace

  10. I will be running Fantasy Football Leagues for the forum this year. I am not sure if I will go with Yahoo or CBS but I assure you it will be free to the poster entering. Until I decide which site to use, CBS or Yahoo, the only thing I can give you for details for sure is: I like to run 12 team leagues with HIGH SCORING, in other words, points for just about everything, LOL. I usually run it with team defense/st. I usually have multiple flex positions and LARGE rosters. I INSIST ON A LIVE DRAFT!! So if you join, I hope you will be in the draft room on time!! Nothing is worse than having a team auto drafted during a live draft and selecting players …

You can forget about using a franchise tag on Berrian. The link below shows the franchise and transition tag numbers for 2008. Way too much money for Berrian as much as I would love to see him stay a Bear. Tag, you're it ... a look at the '08 franchise & transition numbers

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/FutureOpponents.html Home: Saints Bucs Jaguars Titans Packers Vikings Lions Away: Falcons Panthers Texans Colts Packers Vikings Lions With one game remaining and the playoffs out of reach, I figure it's a good time to start looking ahead to 2008. What come first? The draft. Next? Who we play, and that's listed above. I think that's a pretty easy schedule with the exception of Indy, Jacksonville, and possibly Tampa Bay. What do you guys think of it?

OK, this is the official sign up thread for this year's Pick'em Contests. DBDB has said he would give me access to upload the contest to the internet. It will be awhile before the software for 2008 is available for me to purchase and download. So, this is just an early sign-up thread that will continue until approximately a week before the season begins. The cutoff date will be announced later. Those of you from Bearstalk are all aware of the contests that I have been running for many years now. "Pixote's Challenge" is an office pool that is absolutely free to the poster participating. I have not decided if there will be any prizes. Usually, it is just for …

Does anyone know what kind of situation the Bears are in for the 08 cap, and whether cutting people like Moose, Benson, Griese, Walker and Archuletta would be beneficial/harmful from a cap standpoint. Would be nice to know if some potentially helpful players (Starks, Faneca, Hackett, Porter etc) are even feasible given our cap situaiton.

Right now there are eight teams that are guaranteed to be ahead of the Bears in the draft: Seattle, St. Louis, Detroit, KC, Oakland, Houston, Cincinnati, and Cleveland There are five other teams that could arguably be ahead or behind the Bears: SF, GB, SD, Jax, Buffalo So, that means the Bears will draft between 9 and 14. Players who are probably going to be off the board: Stafford - QB Brian Orakpo - DE Michael Oher - OT Andre Smith - OT Taylor Mays -S Eugene Monroe - OT Ray Maualuga - LB Michael Crabtree - WR (if he comes out) Terrence Cody - DT (if he comes out) Chris Wells - RB (someone is gonna do it) Scenario #1 (realisti…
