ContactFeedsAdvertisingPrivacy PolicyFinal eight plan reduces Peppers' options by 25 percent Posted by Mike Florio on February 1, 2010 8:36 AM ET During two Radio Row segments in the 7:00 a.m. ET hour with our good friend Todd Wright of Sporting News Radio, Todd and I talked about the status of Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers. With the Panthers now snubbing Peppers and his agent, Peppers likely won't be slapped with the franchise tag again -- and thus he's destined to be an unrestricted free agent as of March 5. So he'll get a $100 million contract, like defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth finagled a year ago, right? Maybe not. Though it only …

Manziel, their 12th and 19th picks in the draft. With all of the issues going on in Cleveland and the fact that the franchise has been down for so long, they need to find some continuity at QB. Manziel probably isn't that guy (and or could use a change of scenery after going into rehab) and with the defense they have, they need to find a solid QB who can try and get them back to the playoffs. Wilbon suggested Bears trade Cutler for their 2 1st (with no mention of us giving back our 1st), however, I find that incredibly unrealistic (although I would clearly do it, because I think as a franchise, we need to be in full blown, talent accumulation mode right now). I also…

I really really really like Clements and think he'd be an exceptional hire. The only tough part about trading for our OC (and I'd be okay giving up Moore) is that we don't know if he'll be here for much more than a year so it would be hard to give up a pick (especially one that the Bears felt was a sleeper a year ago) for what might be one year of coaching. That said, I buy into Clements being the guy we can have with Cutler for a long time and I think Clements could fit into a long-term strategy with the Bears. The hard part is, no matter who we bring in, there will be a significant adjustment period where the offense adjusts to the new system and we will see plen…

We had a thread months ago speculating on the value of trading Hester. In light of him threatening to hold out for the season, and knowing we have several other players with excellent return ability, not nearly as much as Hester, but still could be effective return men, would you consider now trading Hester? Is it conceivable that we could get a #1 for him? Would a team give up that much to get the #1 return man in the NFL and the potential to be a top flight WR? If I thought he would be a season long holdout, I would say yes, trade him for a #1 or maybe a #2 & #4. I am just not convinced this holdout will last very long. Although it may hold bac…

Just thinking outside the box here. There are a few teams that may want to jump into the QB sweepstakes at #11. Teams that could need QBs: Browns - Will draft QB at #2 Cowboys - May draft QB at #4 Niners - #7 Eagles - #13 (recent 2yr deal with Bradford) Rams - #15 Texans - #22 Chiefs - #28 (maybe) Broncos - #31 (maybe) So let's say only the Browns pick a QB at #2. The Bears #11 is worth 1250. The prime target here is the Rams. They have the two picks in the 2nd round worth 920. If they also threw in their 3rd (210), that would be a decent compromise. The Bears lose in the points, but the compromise is pretty good for the value. In thi…

Would you trade our 2013 first round pick for a 2014 first round and a 2013 third round pick? Lets say Kansas City drafts the OLT Joeckel with the first pick, and then wants to be sure they get QB Matt Barkley also. They give up the 2014 first round selection along with the 63 pick in RD3. It would hurt us this season, but next year we will be loaded to get a premier player or two, and we also get the top pick in RD3. 2014 prospects?? DE- Jadeveon Clowney SC OLT - Taylor Lewan Mich OLT - Jake Matthews Texas AM OLT - Cyrus Kouandjo AL OLT - David Yankey Stan It's definately a thought to consider, especially if we think the make or b…

I did a little digging and started compiling some stats on JA's draft picks and came up with some pretty telling numbers. 83 total picks out 10 drafts. 12 of the picks considered reaches at the time they were selected with a consensus of scouts and fans. 15% 13 of the picks had an injury history or character issues when the Bears selected them. 17% 58 of the 83 picks are no longer with the team. 70% That is the most telling stat that points to poor drafting. With 3 on IR and 1 on the PS,that leaves 21 of JA's 83 picks currently still with the team. 25% I'm a lot more disturbed after looking at all of these numbers and realize why this …

The more I gain information on this draft the more I see there being a run on QBs early. With that said, if SF does not take a QB at 2, I totally see Cleveland moving up to 3 to grab Trubisky So here is the scenario: Cleveland gives us the 12th pick, #33-#67 and a fifth rounder-175 for our third spot. At 12 these players should be in play Ryan Ramczyk/OT O.J. Howard/TE Jabrill Peppers/SS Cam Robinson/OT …

I seen someone on bleacher report suggest the bears trade for vic Beasley for a 3rd round pick this year? I would say no, it would hamper Floyd's breakout year.

All this FA talk has gotten me thinking. Given Cutler likes Shannahan and he is now in Washington: would you be willing to trade Cutler to Washington for a 1st and/or 2nd and Jason Campbell? Campbell isn't all that a horrible QB and the Bears can get back two of the draft picks they probably will need come next year. I, for one, would not want Cutler to go anywhere but just thought I would throw that out there. Food for thought.

Is Ryan Mundy even worse than the "Safeties" that were already on the roster. He looks about as lost as McClellin, believe it or not. I don't wanna compare apples and oranges... but look at the way Earl Thomas commands the field. runs down every play hits like a brick, and directs the show. ..

1. 67 Year old Bear fan born on the south side, raised in Rockford, move to the west coast 30 years ago. I have bitched and griped about the lack of any Bear coverage since the 85 Super Bowl years. Turn on any sports talk or anything to do with the NFL and your lucky to even get a recap of games during the season. The best way of course to change that is start winning again. But since the draft every time I turn on any sports programing talking about the NFL DaBears are topic A. It's nice to at least get some info on the Bears other than sites that are Bear related. So for at least the rest of this week I finally get my fill of Bear talk on a national level. I gu…

... It seemed like a feeding frenzy for OL and WR's. There was some teams I thought drafted like they were sitting at the buffet table at all you can eat restaurant. I was pretty much busy all day but checking in periodically not wanting to miss our 2nd rnd pick. Unfortunately it was not in the cards. It seems Angelo tried to trade for Boldin but Az. wanted to much. Even though it would have been nice, but no dice. I can honestly say I do not know who was on the board at 49 when we traded Our 2nd rnd pick to Seattle to say if it was a good move or not. I guess Angelo saw no reason to reach for a #2 that they can have in the 3rd rnd. I want to thank yo…
