NBCSports.com's Tom Curran reports the Dolphins are nearing a contract agreement with Michigan OT Jake Long. The deal would make Long the No. 1 overall pick. The Dolphins began talks with Long's agent, Tom Condon, two weeks ago and never engaged in serious deliberations with any other player. Curran writes that with Long off the board, St. Louis is "a lock" to use the No. 2 pick on a defensive player. UVA DE Chris Long is reportedly "very confident" he'll be the Rams' choice

Just curious. I feel it nearly serves as evidence in the boating case, proving a pattern of poor judgement, but I'm curious to see what others think. Has it changed your opinion?

On offense, Langford and Mariani have both made impact plays. No sacks so far for the o-line. On defense, Foster, Houston, Washington, Mitchell, and Jonathan Anderson have all been making plays in the first half.

I'd love to see Forte have a 8-40/TD game. I'd also love to see Orton step up in front of Rex and to see Hanie play well again.

With all the discussion lately around BPA vs. needs I'm curious to see what everyone views our top needs are heading into the draft. I tried to include all positions so this can be as objective as possible. In other words ILB is still listed even though we just spent $10mil to fix it. Even though I listed top 3 needs, if we get enough people to vote then from a statistics view point we should we will be able to identify and rank our top 5 needs. To do that I'll give every 1st place vote 10 points, every 2nd place vote 5 points, and every 3rd place 3 points.

A couple takeaways: From a leverage perspective - I walk away from this thinking it is 60/40 they stick with Fields, which might have been strategic. Is going to force a team wanting #1 to blow them away and also force a team interested in Fields to call them with a pretty strong offer. But I get a sense from Poles of - I want to build a really good football team and he didn't seem as concerned with QB as maybe Ryan Pace was. He seems like - I'll build a really good team and keep doing it and will figure out QB, whether Fields or someone else. Don't get the sense that it has to be with #1 pick. Between the draft and FAgency we need several spots to upgrade. We cant fix everything in one season,so these are the positions I think immediate upgrade. OL-I think we need to grab a 1st round OT, there seems to be 5 listed as 1st round grades, but will need more research to pinpoint what valve that will be at with the 20th pick. I also think we need to bring in a OG,OC in FAgency to add to the mix. I was reading Brad Briggs and he talked to an insider type and that person thought that is the order there draft will fall.
