  1. I know man...I want something to happen, but I want to be smart about it too. Blowing a ton of cash on the wrong guy would be like taking the homecoming queen to prom only to find out she wears an iron chastity belt...THAT's frustration...
  2. Berrian and Johnson?? Not very likely...but it would have been n interesting dance none the less
  3. I hope he does go there. He will learn that winning with 32 million is better than losing with 45 million...Or he will impregnate another 4 or 5 women and will have 45 cents left over after child support
  4. It has been 20.5 hours...if at the end of FA we have done nothing to fill our holes, then let the bashing begin, but why in the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks are we getting upset that JA hasn't gotten anyone yet? We knew going into this offseason that we weren't going to blow our wad, and while most of us wanted Fanaca we all knew it was a LONG shot at best. So sit back, have a few cold ones and relax until the end of FA. Then bash away...
  5. Exactly. I see no downside to opening it up at the beginning of camp and letting them share reps and then pick who is best for the 3rd and most important preseason game. Lovie has been too soft with his QB's since he's been here and it has not helped them. Excellent! My wife's family are Packer fans and my mother-in-law kept trying to get Elaine to say she was a Packer fan, and she wouldn't. Finally the MIL tried to say that the Packers were in her blood. My daughter thought for a second and said, "OK Grandma, but the Bears are in my heart!" It was a proud day...
  6. As one of the biggest (if not the biggest) Orton supporter on this board, I agree with that, make him earn it in camp. I've been screaming for 3 years that Rex needed an open competition in camp, and it never happened. I still think it needs to happen. Lovie seems to like competition at every position EXCEPT QB, which is baffling. Open it up and may the best QB win. I believe it will be Orton, but the competition will make all of them better.
  7. OH HE** NO! Not even this staff can be that stupid as to put the turnstyle back in there...he was terrible.
  8. Not that I am disagreeing with you, but is that really what you think the Bears will do? I personally think they will give Ced one more chance this coming year because of the coin they have paid him. Should they? Not based on what he has shown so far, but they probably will anyway.
  9. QB: Orton RB: Benson FB: McKie WR: Berrian WR: Moose TE: Clark LT: Chris Williams LG: Alan Faneca C: Kruetz RG: Garza RT: Tait DE: Ogunleye DE: Alex Brown DT: Tommie Harris DT: Dusty OLB: Jamar Williams MLB: Urlacher OLB: Hunter CB: Tillman CB: Vasher SS: Payne FS: Mike Brown Say what you would like about Mike Brown, but the Bearswill hope like H-E-double hockey sticks that he can stay healthy, because he is the best they've got and better than what else is available. I can see this lineup getting us back to dominance though.
  10. Do you think there is any way Cleveland trades a potential Franchise QB to a division rival? Not a CIH. Now if the Ravens sign Anderson to a Poison pill deal and give up their 1st and 3rd since he is an RFA, Cleveland can't do a thing about it. But no way is a trade gonna happen.
  11. I think that you don't really understand how fast our D was that year. Moss is the only Pat I see giving us trouble, and frankly, I don't think Brady would have time to get the ball to Moss deep because of the pressure he would face. Our LB's were some of the best and fastest in the business that year. No I don't think the '85 Bears would have had trouble keeping up with the Pats at all.
  12. It means we have a camp leg so that Maynard can rest all offseason...
  13. From what I am reading Dallas wants to move up towards the top of the draft to get McFadden (Any truth to that Nfo from Dallas land?) and if that is the case they will not want to trade their 2 #1 picks as they will need both to have a shot at moving up that far.
  14. We need a complete overhaul of the Oline and only 1 OL pick out of 8? We need at least 2 if not 3 OL in this draft.
  15. LOL yes just a little. He is a turd...he is an awesome DT yes...but still a turd. Saying that I would take him in a heartbeat. Urlacher would be having wet dreams at the thought of playing behind Harris and Haynesworth...

    THE DRAFT and FA

If that CB turned out to be the next Deion Sanders or Champ Bailey? I might take him even with Tillman and Vasher. Maybe Tillman moves to Safety and bolsters that position for us. I see your point and don't disagree with most of it and if there is an LT that can anchor our line for the next 10 years, then we should take him because I would value that higher than the CB top 10 on the board or not. But if we feel 1 is a sure fire stud and the other is not, then I say take the stud. I am all for taking OL with any pick that we can, but if someone stud worthy drops to us, then I can see taking them.
  17. Classic! I need to hang that in my office at work.
  18. And when they do JA lets them sign elsewhere...There is no real reason Drew Brees should not have been a Bear...Oh wait...we had Grossman...
  19. Please don't remind me! I am dreading the teenage years. Daddy still knows everything and I am not looking forward to knowing nothing...
  20. Ha! I just turned 32 and I feel old...Happy very belated BDay Neo
  21. My only worry is that everyone and their brother knows we need an OT, just like that year we needed a DE and wanted Carter. I wonder if someone will try and leapfrog us to nab the best OT on the board. And if there is an early run on OT's we might be left standing with our pants around our ankles...
  22. Same here. I hate the dolphins almost as much as the pats, so shutting them up will be a good thing...of course we will then have to hear about Belid*ck and Brady popping the cork every year...

    THE DRAFT and FA

For a team like us with so many needs, it will be easy with #14 (and probably all 8 of our picks) to pick the BPA and say they filled a need area. There are very few exceptions though where I would say that you bypass an absolute stud to pick a lesser player for a need though. Teams who do this tend to not fare too well. I agree with your premise that you have a collection of players on your board who are close in value and you chose the one who will help you the most. But I will disagree if someone says you pick a lesser player to fill a need. Teams need playmakers, and the best teams use their draft picks on the best playmakers on the board.

    THE DRAFT and FA

Tell that to Minny...Your theory would have them passing on AP because they had a very good back in Chester Taylor already on the roster. If there is a stud available take him, there is always room on the roster for studs who can play.
  25. Ditto...If JA doesn't come out of this FA/Draft peiod with at least 3 quality O-linemen he needs to be run out of town.
