  1. I think we need to stock pile a few vet WR and would like to add Hackett and or Jackson which would give Rex/ Orton the most talent the BEARS may have ever had from a WR corps that I recall with OL & RB the final key ingrediaents for a chance to be a successful (multi-dimensional) offensive unit!
  2. That would be a great draft!
  3. I like to keep the roster current as possible but will add potential draft picks or FA to the team and see what impact they might have on the Bears if they were signed or drafted. I currently have DJ Hacket as a WR on the Bears and like what he brings.
  4. I would be happy with Brohm or Flacco with the @nd round but NOT Woodson unitl after rd 5 and still would shrug.
  5. I also agree with picking a back of in the draft between rounds 3-5
  6. I agree that he should not over spend on him but from what I have seen is that he is pretty physical and can cover well. Would challenge for starting time and i think he is a SS.
  7. Saftey is NOT an overly pressing need and we will go offensive players in the 3rd. Besides this is not a great year for saftey to go that high. Obviously this is a work in progress but here is what I have been thinking in my spare time which I have not had much lately: 2008 Bears Draft List Best available Round Pick Player Target Position Priorty 1 14 Clady / Williams / Alberts OT very high 2 44 Brohm / Flacco / Thomas / Caldwell QB/WR high 3 75 K.Smith / Royal RB/WR very high 3 90 T. Hills / OG/OT high 4 106 M. Forte/ Woodard RB/SS medium 5 134 Simpson/Hubbard WR medium 6 173 Powell DT Depth 7 205 Stewart FB medium Bold = projected available selection
  8. That would already surpass Benson production the last few years - sign Brown!
  9. I think this guy would be a good pick up played saftey for the Broncos and seems to have some good potential
  10. Per Chicagosports.com Extra points: Bears quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton was part of a large contingent of pro coaches and scouts in San Diego this past Friday watching Josh Johnson, the University of San Diego quarterback. Johnson (6-3, 200) who struggled with his throws at the NFL Scouting Combine due to a back injury, was on point throwing on his home turf. Johnson first created as buzz by running the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds at combine, tops among quarterbacks. … Expect the Bears to be at Vanderbilt University March 21 to watch Commodore offensive tackle Chris Williams perform. He might be worthy of the Bears’ No. 14 overall pick.
  11. I have said this in a previous post that I believe JA would like to trade down especially if the top 3 LT's are off the board and I agree that Alberts would be a good pick for us especially if we got an additional 2nd rounder would provide more flexibibilty to fill needs with out reaching.
  12. The one thing I would change if possible would be "no injuries" since that is impossible I would change to improve the OL; since the offense is the main issue holding the Bears back for competting for a SB!
  13. Its a luxury until a guy who had 12 sacks as a rookie to only 5 the next season or when the dreaded injury bug hits. The Bears can not afford to trade Ogun unless they get a quality proven player in return like Chad Johnson which would never happen.
  14. I also really hope Payne can make an impact this year. My brother went to TC last year and said Riduea look pretty good has anyone seen anything from this WR to think he could help? As far as Hass goes I do recall that incredible catch going out of bounds in pre-seaons and think he should battle for PT. Does anyone have any info about the guys burried on the OL depth chart like M. Jone & T. Reed? Are they potential stater material?

  16. I think JA must address OL and WR help via FA to help take some pressure off in the draft; i.e. drafting need vs best player avaiable. FA WR: Johnson or DJ Hackett would be good pick ups who can step in and play reight away. RB: I prefer to take someone in this years draft OL: I would be fine with allowing St. Clair compete at OG; I thought he played well in the short time he played gaurd FA: not sure who is out there that is an upgrade and not another Fred Miller after 1 season
  17. BEars will not release AP and I hope they do not sign J. Jones unless that means Benson is gone
  18. Exactly, I have no problem when a GM knows what he is looking for talent wise and goes out and gets him. Quantity is not always better than quality as someone preveiosly mentioned. That extra 3rd pick could be huge and allow JA to do something like you are thinking. But depending who is available on draft day when the Bears are on the clock JA may covet some other players whom he thinks fits what they are looking for and move down to get them which I am okay as well but with all our needs I just hope they do their due diligence scounting players to make this team better. Lets face it this team does not have an offensive identity and JA can not afford to make any mistakes in this draft on that side of the ball. The reason I posted the 2003 draft list is to point out that the Bears did a poor job of evaluating talent that year and possible reached for a need with Haynes and left some very good players on the board like Johnson, MaGahee and Palomula. I don't have a problem with drafting Grossman either. Really none of the other players that were avaiable after the 14th besides the previsouly metioned amounted to much.
  19. Greise, Arch, Manning and Benson
  20. I agree with you as I would love to have Flacco in the 3rd and think JA will go OT & WR with first 2 picks. Colt in the late rounds would be a good project QB pickup. Beside the Bears just resigned thier former number 1 QB and have Orton so there is not a pressing need to take an unproven QB higher if there is another prospect that there is a higher grade on.
  21. I think were teams often get themselves into trouble is when they pass on best player avialable and reach for a need. A prudent GM will have a talented core of players under contract, use the draft to take the best availble or trade down to get the player they need at the right value. I have no problem if a GM trades up to get that "Franchise player" that has the potential to help that team complete for a SB i.e. I don't think Shannahan is particulary good at drafting but I was impressed when he traded up to get Jay Culter a few years ago! The other part of the equation is how well the Front Office evalutes talent and manages the roster.
  22. I certainly like what I saw on film of Alberts and would like him if we are able to move down in rd 1. He has LT talent.
  23. I think JA will do what he did 5 years ago when he traded down and got an extra pick when he Drafted Haynes & Grossman. 1 Cincinnati Bengals Carson Palmer Quarterback USC 2 Detroit Lions Charles Rogers Wide Receiver Michigan State 3 Houston Texans Andre Johnson Wide Receiver Miami (FL) 4 New York Jets (from Chicago) Dewayne Robertson Defensive Tackle Kentucky 5 Dallas Cowboys Terence Newman Cornerback Kansas State 6 New Orleans Saints (from Arizona) Johnathan Sullivan Defensive Tackle Georgia 7 Jacksonville Jaguars [5] Byron Leftwich Quarterback Marshall 8 Carolina Panthers [5] Jordan Gross Offensive Tackle Utah 9 Minnesota Vikings [5] Kevin Williams Defensive Tackle Oklahoma State 10 Baltimore Ravens Terrell Suggs Defensive End/Linebacker Arizona State 11 Seattle Seahawks Marcus Trufant Cornerback Washington State 12 St. Louis Rams Jimmy Kennedy Defensive Tackle Penn State 13 New England Patriots (from Washington through New York Jets and Chicago) Ty Warren Defensive End Texas A&M 14 Chicago Bears (from Buffalo through New England) Michael Haynes Defensive End Penn State 15 Philadelphia Eagles (from San Diego) Jerome McDougle Defensive End Miami (FL) 16 Pittsburgh Steelers (from Kansas City) Troy Polamalu Safety USC 17 Arizona Cardinals (from Miami through New Orleans) Bryant Johnson Wide Receiver Penn State 18 Arizona Cardinals (from New Orleans) Calvin Pace Defensive End Wake Forest 19 Baltimore Ravens (from New England) Kyle Boller Quarterback California 20 Denver Broncos George Foster Offensive Tackle Georgia 21 Cleveland Browns Jeff Faine Center Notre Dame 22 Chicago Bears (from New York Jets) Rex Grossman Quarterback Florida 23 Buffalo Bills (from Atlanta) Willis McGahee Running Back Miami (FL) 24 Indianapolis Colts Dallas Clark Tight End Iowa 25 New York Giants William Joseph Defensive Tackle Miami (FL) 26 San Francisco 49ers Kwame Harris Offensive Tackle Stanford 27 Kansas City Chiefs (from Pittsburgh) Larry Johnson Running Back Penn State 28 Tennessee Titans Andre Woolfolk Cornerback Oklahoma 29 Green Bay Packers Nick Barnett Linebacker Oregon State 30 San Diego Chargers (from Philadelphia) Sammy Davis Cornerback Texas A&M 31 Oakland Raiders Nnamdi Asomugha Cornerback California 32 Oakland Raiders (from Tampa Bay) [6] Tyler Brayton Defensive End Colorado By the way, take note who the Bears missed out on at # 27 Larry Johnson -- if LJ was picked at #14 instead of Haynes we may have never been talking about BAD REX as he could have had one hell of a running game that might very well masked his inconsistent play.
  24. Deshawn Foster was just cut by the Panters -- any takers?
  25. I am simply stating that these guys will probably be drafted earlier than you have them going to the Bears.
