Done deal, Seahawks retain Bennett
-
I like both those guys, I was expecting more out of Tuitt this past year but it seems the injury he played through may have caused more problems then reported.
-
He will be 31 this month. It goes against what Emery has said about getting younger, or maybe younger than Peppers would still considered younger. I would like this addition if we missed on Johnson and Bennett. Tuck would bring good leadership and it doesn't hurt he is a ND man!!! Love the Irish.
-
If the deal is already done it leads me to believe he is getting paid.

Brad Biggs reporting Chi has interest in Bennett

I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. If you were going after a player like JJ Watt then I would break the bank. When does he become a FA?!!?! Man I would love him to be a Bear. -
It has been brought up on this site an bunch of times, the idea of a CB moving to Safety at the end of his career. Just wondering how many guys have actually don't it and been good? I know Woodson did it up in GB. Even in college that guy was a multi position player. He could do it all, played WR, CB and returned punts and kickoffs. Tillman and Champ are both great CB, just not sure that means they would be great Safeties.

The biggest question will be what are others teams willing to pay Hester to be a return man and are the Bears willing to match it. I would have to think Hester would want to return to the Bears instead of playing for a different team for the same pay.
-
That sucks, all great things come to an end. Sucks that he didn't get the record while playing for the Bears.... Wasn't one TD called back for a hold that looked OK on the replay??!!!
-
Crazy!! lol..... No to Freeman. Freeman has a big arm but from what I have seen doesn't have his head in the game. Can that change, sure. Has Trestman ever voiced what he looks for in a QB??? traits, talents????
-
The way I read it it seems the article is listing teams they see interested in him. Either way depending on cost I would like bringing him in.
-
I personally like Garza. Like the signing. The Oline was so much improved, I say keep the unit together. Should only get better. Wouldn't mind a late round pick at center either
-
I could go either way. With the Rookie contracts set they way they are I would make a Play for him if you didn't over spend with picks. What did Atlanta give up to get Julio Jones? That deal looks to be the right deal. If Clowney ends up being a superstar you would have him for 4 to 5 years on the cheap. If Emery gets two good players that would def help with the amount of holes in our D. I really just want Emery to hit on the 1st,2nd and 3rd round draft picks more often then JA. JA blew too many 1-3 draft picks. If I listed his misses in the first 3 rounds we could really get depressed. I love going back and looking at drafts to see who we could have taken instead of the pick we took. Wind sight is 20/20. Emery so far 1st =Shae - Miss (still the jury is out but im leaning bust because they drafted him for the DE spot) 2nd= Alshon- HUGE HIT 3rd= Hardin- miss, actually a huge miss 1st- Long- Hit... shit Ill give this a huge hit. Seems to have everything one would want. 2nd- Bostic- jury still out, made some nice plays to show some big potential 3rd- no pic - but I will say the Mills pick in the 5th looks to be a great pick Not off to a great start, but could be really good if Bostic and Shae turn out to be good.

Kind of funny tho, if they convert some of Jay's cap hit to bonus it opens up more money to spend. So really are they spending all that they can or not? The cap space always confuses, if the cap space is 132 what does that really mean. Only base salary counts towards the cap bonus doesn't?
-
with the Bears raising ticket prices again they better use that money on adding better players!!!!
-
Im wondering if Donald increased his stock to top 10 now. Word is he really impressed at the Senior Bowl and now he put on a show at the combine. I haven't looked to see if anyone draft before the Bears need a DT
-
With Emery saying the thing about Length, I wonder if that would jump some of the taller guys up the draft board. Ealy and Martin are tall guys.
-
With DE I like the 40 but the quickness is more important. I was hoping Ealy was quicker. Martin's numbers got my attention. Donald's times are impressive for sure. Clowney's numbers are just stupid.... 4.47 are you kidding me!!!
-
I found that Warren Sapp was 6'2 and ran a 4.69 at the combine. Also a 31 inch vert… Still trying to find his weight coming out of College.
-
Anyone remember what Warren Sapp measured out at and tested out at the Combine? The reason Im asking is to compare to Donald

PFT: Marc Trestman: Our draft will focus on defense
Chitownhustla replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Why be completely silent and now release what you are thinking??? Wouldn't it be better to keep the idea of going 3-4 and what the side of the ball the draft will be most important?? Not that everyone doesn't know we need help on D!! Who knows the game, maybe they go heavy O and switch to the 3-4!!! lol -
If they wait to cut him wouldn't it be in his favor to restructure at that point. The more teams that spend up their cap space the less team will be able to sign him to a larger contract. Would it make more sense for cap purposes to cut and resign or restructure?
-
The Bears jumped at the guys they knew they wanted to spend money on. The guys that didn't get any contracts are going to get to test the market. Maybe Tillman and Melton believe they are worth more then what the Bears had in mind. I would have to think the Bears have had some discussion about price range with their agents. Lovie strikes me as one who will spend to get these guys. Tillman and Melton know the system and can fill in for one or two years down there. I will say that Im kind of sad to see this group of D players broken up, starting with 54. I loved watching these guys play for so long. Hoping Emery can do the same with the D that he did with the O!
-
He couldnt upgrade the O because he drafted Jarron Gilbert and Juaquin Iglesias with his first two picks of the 2009 draft both busts. He missed way too many times in the draft depart. He hit some homeruns but missed waaaayyyy toooo many times.
-
I dont care what JA thinks. He proved he was not capable of putting a respectable O on the field. Every Fan, writer, radio talking head etc etc screamed 1.Fix the Oline 2. Devin Hester is not a number 1 3. Give Cutler some weapons He never did it. Instead he drafted some guy that can jump out of a pool but couldnt play a lick of football. Cutler has not reached the Elite level we all hoped, yet. At the beginning of this last season people started calling him 4th quarter Jay due to the late game performances he had. Maybe JA missed those games. He seemed pretty clutch to me.His numbers were better then years past, at one point before the injury if you averaged this numbers across an entire season he would have put up great numbers. That way of thinking is shoulda coulda woulda. Had he not gotten hurt I wonder what the outcome would have been. I am holding my judgement on the new contract and Cutler until after this next season. Hopefully he plays the entire season injury free. This will be his second year in the same system, an actual NFL caliber system. He will also be playing with a good Oline and actual weapons for the second year in a row. I would think that this O will only get better in all phases of the game. Cutler and company will only get better at Knowing which plays to run when they see what defense they are showing Timing of plays (just look at the GB offense, the timing of the short slants or back shoulder passes makes it hard to defend) Playbook will only be bigger now that the players will be more comfortable in this offense Trestman should only get better with play calling, knowing the players he has and what they can do Going through a entire off season working on the same system and not learning a new system will pay huge dividends If Cutler doesnt take it to the next level this year I will have no problem calling it a bad move. There will be no reasons or excuses to defend him any longer. He has the weapons, Oline and system in place. Its all there for him to prove if he is either a Elite level QB or just a good one. Im praying for an injury free year and a D that at least looks better than last years.
