  1. nfo, It seems like the hottest slot will be right around our pick since we also have a need for RB. So if you include DET, ARZ, HOU, and DAL, that would be picks 14-16, 18, and 22 all looking for RB help. I would love for DAL to jump up to us and give us their 22 and 28 for our 14, 70 and a dptbnl. Barber is over-rated and they lost Jones.
  2. 2002 was the last time we drafted an Offensive Lineman within the 1st 3 rounds. Drafting one high is long overdue. They probably should've drafted one instead of Bazuin or Wolfe last year. I wouldn't be surprised if 2 out of the first 4 picks are on the O-Line. Sometimes the unflashy picks are the best. Anderson in the 5th, Brown & Vasher in the 4th, Briggs in the 3rd, and Hester in the 2nd.

Halfway to pick 4. Please vote if you haven't yet.

I can contribute as needed. When would the page be up?
  5. I just change it at My Controls > Board Settings > Number of topics to show for each forum page, and change it to 40. If you are talking about a new default, then it doesn't really matter for those that have already changed theirs correct?

If they can put a salary cap on a team, why can't they put salary caps on rookie contracts? Basically make it like the Franchise Tag system. A top 10 pick can make no more than the average of the top 10 players at his position, or something along those lines. Then just taper it down as the picks get lower. Also, put some stipulation in there that says that rookies must play out their contracts without any new negotiations. Make it similar to baseball arbitration.

Based on the votes, the St. Louis Rams select Chris Long, DE, Virginia. Pick #3 up here: http://www.talkbears.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2244

With Jake Long @ #1 and Chris Long @ #2. Who goes #3?
  9. adam replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Ok, 14 total votes, and 9 for Long. 6 more total votes or 1 more vote for Long and we can move to the next pick.

Has there ever been a draft where two players with the same last name were drafted 1-2? The 2Long draft.

I was thinking we can do a Talkbears consensus pick for each selection up until the Bears pick. No trades, etc. I will then remove the selected player and make another poll until we get to 14 (hopefully before the real draft). If it goes quick, we can go beyond and have two mocks to compare on draft day. The minimum will be 20 total votes or 10 votes for one player to move on. I am curious to see how this plays out.

Just looking at this, those two wins at the end of the season are sure looking crappy right now. With one loss out of the last two games, we draft 9th. If that happened, we could've traded out of the 9th spot to 14th and pick up extra picks, lol.

I wouldn't mind Brohm, but not at 14. If Dallas was willing to trade with us, I could see him selected somewhere in the 20's with the ability to have a 2nd pick in the 1st. With only 1 1st rounder and at 14, I would say the options are down to: QB - Ryan (very unlikely) RB - Mendenhall, Stewart OL - Albert, Clady, Otah, Williams WR - Sweed, Thomas (I hope we don't go WR) S - Phillips
  15. That is for Arch to do.
  16. "With the 49th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Mario Manningham, Wide Receiver, Michigan" The Arizona Cardinals and Parkerbear7 are on the clock...

Now if you can project the picks all the way out to #14 with the possible scenarios, that would be sweet.
  18. The Buffalo Bills and Balta1701-A are now on the clock....
  19. Ok, I know we set a loose time limit on picks, so when do we move on? If he wants a Safety, Reggie Smith is still available.
  20. Any word on this pick?
  21. Well said. I like the idea. I just think they need to relook contracts in general. Maybe have some type of stipulation where if a team cannot cut you, you also cannot sit out. Maybe for the first 3 years of a deal or something along those lines. Another idea might be a limit on the amount of times players can renegotiate contracts.
  22. Broncos signed WR Darrell Jackson to a one-year, $1.5 million contract, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter. Could've been a nice pickup for us.
  23. "With the 33rd pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select James Hardy, Wide Receiver, Indiana" The Atlanta Falcons and Ashkum Bear are now on the clock......
  24. "And that concludes the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft"
  25. I don't think Rice is even on the Bears draft board. Not that this place is gospel, but DraftTek even takes Rice out of the running to be drafted by the Bears along with Hart from Michigan and a bunch of QB's: http://www.drafttek.com/Override2008.html
