https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2024-nfl-free-agency-potential-landing-spots-for-top-quarterbacks-and-wide-receivers 24. WR CALVIN RIDLEY, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS Potential landing spot(s): Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs With D.J. Moore in place, Chicago could get two players who are interchangeable as X-receivers up on the line and as good move/Z-receivers with alignment versatility. Both can create separation vertically, but Ridley could take the top off defenses even more and let Moore utilize his high-end after-the-catch abilities at the short and intermediate levels. Kansas City has shown time and time again that it isn’t going to make free agent sp…

Man what a collapse in the second half. Detroit absolutely blew it against SF. I was rooting for the Lions as I know their fan base has suffered a lot, even more than we have. This was probably their best chance to finally get to a Super Bowl and they collectively blew it. Going for it on 4th down, I know that's Campbell's style and his players know he's going to be aggressive on 4th down, but seriously, when things are going south, and your in FG territory trailing in a game you lead by 17, maybe start doing the smart thing and taking the points and not risk putting your opponent in great field position and continuing let them have the momentum. That said th…

He was run game coordinator under Carrol in Seattle, and worked with Waldron there. The staff is filling out really nicely! And unlike the first wave of hires, these people all had a specific connection to Waldron, so the chemistry is known already. Hopefully Morton has the juice to make Waldron run the ball more than he did previously. If Waldron can adapt, and there's no reason to doubt that, and get a fully dimensional and modern offense in Chicago, then we will be on our way up the ladder, with a whole Waldron tree waiting in the wings ready to move up if Waldron is hired away as a HC, or if he is promoted to our HC some time. That is one developing insuranc…

ok.... what the hell does this mean? Head coach Matt Eberflus will continue calling plays, Pelissero added. Washington returns to the Windy City after being a defensive line coach in 2010. https://www.nfl.com/news/bears-to-hire-eric-washington-as-their-new-defensive-coordinator

Just thought it'd be fun to do some mocks and post em here... Drop your mock and make some mentions.... This one I did, I'm not really sure if we could realistically trade Whitehair or Mooney, but I did. My overall premise was to move past JF1, and grab the swing at the fence of Caleb. Seems after doing that, the top WR's dried up. So, I went Edge. Nabbed our C, S, G, DT, and TE. Also got some depth at LB, HB, CB, and OT. I went Rice w the 1st WR taken because he could already have a rapport w Caleb Williams. Went Williams as a deep shot WR. Feel like WR is my weakest element. Need a FA!

So I saw a thread on Twitter on how SB winning teams have never had a QB that took more than 15% of the cap in any year to date. Which is odd considering most of the SBs were won by Brady, Roethlisberger, Mahomes, and Flacco over the last 20 years. So I looked back to year 2000 to see what were the top 10 teams in terms of winning pct, how many HC's they had, how many different leading QBs they had, playoff appearances, SB appearances, and SB wins. The Bears were 21st over this span with a 181-206 record, which is sad. So what stands out below is the top of the top teams have had the same HC or only 1-2 over the last 20+ years. Secondly, over that same ti…

OK. We really suck. Jim Harbaugh was actually available and we didn't persue him. We didn't even try. Wow. This IS a clown show. Whatever you think about Eberflus you can't tell me Harbaugh wouldn't be better. Is this who Kevin Warren wanted when he supposedly argued with Poles? Did Poles not want to give up on his hug friend? This is such a giant error. How many years will we need to wait until we can fire Poles? I'm telling you right now, you may think I'm crazy right now, but you will all eventually wish we had Harbaugh instead of Eberflus. Every one of us will eventually know this no matter what you think now. And we can fire Eberflus, bu…

It is great that the Bears will have both Hightower and Borgonzi coaching there. They will get some great in depth looks at players that other teams won't. Hopefully they helps the draft values. With Hightower as the HC and Borgonzi as the D coordinator, I bet the Bears draft at least one defensive player from the East squad. Here are the rosters: https://shrinebowl.com/rosters/ There seems to be a week of activities: https://shrinebowl.com/news/2024-game-week-schedule/ before the game, so we should get some intel as early as this Thursday/Friday.

LMAO, what a bunch of losers, complaining about the refs and their kicker when their QB throws 2 INTs late. Love had 2-3 nice throws the entire game, but also had 2 INTs and probably should've had a 3rd. Even with a 100 yard rusher, unless the receivers were wide open, he couldn't hit them. To me it's funny, because the dude is going into Year 5, he is not going to improve that much, if any. I actually expect some regression next year, and then maybe in 2025 he may improve again back to something close to this season's numbers, but that is a maybe. The things that were issues with him in college came out in the biggest game of his life. He has zero running ability, a…

So much for no OC will want to work under a HC who might be on a hot seat. The Bears have 4 good names to interview. They all run a scheme similiar to what the Bears ran under Getsy. This tells me they do not want the team to go through another learning curve and it also helps JF case on being QB1 next year. What was feeling like 60 stay/40 out is not hovering 75 stay/25 out. The Bears also have an edge with having a HC in place while other teams have to get that done first. Shane Waldron-Sea OC, worked under Belechik. G Geno Smith put together 8000 yds 50 tds in 2 years under him. Clint Kubiak-passing coor, Dad is the godfather of Shannahans of…

I was upset when I first learned of Cliff Stein leaving the Bears. I was even more alarmed that it was rumored that Warren was the one who showed him the door. I just read an interesting article describing in detail the rise and fall of Cliff Stein and now fully understand why he was dismissed. The article describes Stein's change in approach to contract negotiations that had become an issue with players and their agents. It also mentioned that he felt Phillips and Stein mishandled negotiations with Arlington Heights which has led to a stalemate in Warren's plans for a stadium there. Finally, it states Warren is concerned that there are "leaks" in the front office o…

QB talk gets mentioned in almost every thread, since it wont be going away until after the draft, might as well keep it in one spot. My take: I want Fields to succeed, i want Bagent to be good, for me its what is our best course going forward. Option 1) Fields balls out and we use our 2 top picks to acquire a boat load of top 100 talent. I would prefer to get MHJ somewhere in the mix. Justin has 7 games to prove himself or I will be out with him. Even if he plays well Poles may decide there is a better QB to draft, the big money he will have to pay in 2025 may already have sealed his fate. Option 2) Draft the next great QB , the problem is which one is it?…

Seems like he'll get a new gig. Will be curious to see who Bears replace him with. He was a tremendous hire and will be a big loss (albeit the draft pick compensation for losing him will be nice too). Latest is he is down to the final 2 with Washington. I haven't heard whether he is in the running with Carolina, New England, San Diego, or Oakland. Or am I mistaken and Oakland has a GM? Are there any other teams I'm leaving out? Certainly seems unlikely with that many GM jobs, that the Bears won't lose him.

After this weekend's outcomes, it looks like a few additional teams made it into the Disappointment zone. Outside of everything Bears related, who/what was the biggest disappointment this season?

If the Bears get the first pick and decide to trade out of it, here are some teams with draft capital and a need at QB. First off, I think once you get past 10, it is too much capital, so I will stick to the top 10 for now: 1. ARZ - Currently #2, could want to move up to secure their guy knowing someone will ultimately jump them. The value on something like this is tough, but 2x 2nd rounders would be the value based on the trade value chart. 2. WAS - Currently #3, Howell is benched, and they shedded some salary. This would now cost a future first with the swap and another mid round pick. Another option is the pick swap, Daron Payne and another high pick in 2025 (1s…

A couple takeaways: From a leverage perspective - I walk away from this thinking it is 60/40 they stick with Fields, which might have been strategic. Is going to force a team wanting #1 to blow them away and also force a team interested in Fields to call them with a pretty strong offer. But I get a sense from Poles of - I want to build a really good football team and he didn't seem as concerned with QB as maybe Ryan Pace was. He seems like - I'll build a really good team and keep doing it and will figure out QB, whether Fields or someone else. Don't get the sense that it has to be with #1 pick.
