Unhappy Urlacher to skip Bears' 1st voluntary workout By Vaughn McClure Tribune reporter April 6, 2008, 11:42 PM CDT For the second year in a row, the Bears will be without a Pro Bowl linebacker for the start of their voluntary off-season program, in part because of an unresolved contract situation. Brian Urlacher told the Tribune on Sunday he plans to skip the first day of workouts, slated to begin Monday, and left open the strong possibility that he will bypass the Bears' entire voluntary off-season program, which includes organized team activities (OTAs). The face of the Bears franchise informed the team of his intentions to remain in Arizona ra…

Right now we have a good team shaping up. But we could be even better if we got rid of Metcalf and went out and signed C/G Bentley. We just might lose Manning Jr, but we are good in the depth in the back secondary. We don't need Lynch....too slow now. If we are going to pick up a QB Farve would be a great addition, or Culpepper would be better if Farve didn't fall to us. I just don't like the idea of Henine being a starter if Rex/Orton get hurt. We know pepper could be the man with all the targets we have to throw to. Jones was my pick out of the RB'S

Per Vaughn McClure's twitter, VJax and Avril were our top 2 targets, but Avril is tagged. I don't put a ton of stock in this, as I really don't think Emery is leaking things yet. There was another suggestion from one of McClure's earlier tweets than the info might have come from a player, which would make it seem like it's just speculation. But hey, it's a juicy rumor!

There is no way Fox and any of the coordinators are at minimum back next season. Hopefully, some get pink slips today... However, the bigger question now is does Pace get to choose the next or should he be bounced too? He's certainly made some hits and certainly some misses. I've personally come to the conclusion that I don't care either way. If he stays, he's shown enough to get one last chance to get it right. If he goes, so be it. He's made enough mistakes to warrant it. That said, if Pace goes, I want Sweatty Teddy put back on the calculator and hire a real president of football operations. I want a full clean. Hire the right man to hire the ri…

Who are your picks for the superbowl? Call me crazy, but I see the Jags comming out on top of the AFC and the Cowboys winning the NFC. So I am going with the Jags over the Cowboys in the Superbowl.

  14. Aaron Lemming tweeted that the Bears cut two players and brought up Fales leaving one roster spot open........ Could it mean we may see the 7th overall draft pick of the Bears???? The only way he is playing is if he is 100% and in some type of game shape. Cant really expect a whole lot but maybe he can open up some routes by being a deep threat.

  16. Minnesota will be without Jordan Addison for this one. On the injury front, we know the Bears will be without Booker. The team is still hopeful to have Jaylon Johnson back to match up with Justin Jefferson. Both of those two are dinged up right now. I could see a heavy dose of Aaron Jones and TJ Hockenson in Week 1. LBs will play a huge role in stopping them. The pros for the Bears is playing on MNF at home, Soldier Field should be electric. Getting off to a hot start is key. McCarthy is basically a rookie. Caleb played well against MIN last year all things considered, he had 531 passing yards (265 yds/g), 3 TD, 0 INT, and 5 sacks in two games against…

With the two ILBs and Unrein signed, and an OT to set the right edge, it worries me the Bears may actually be thinking about a QB in the first. What else makes sense? -Ragland and Mack are out in my opinion. -Way too deep at DE to spend the pick there. -The Bears best defensive position is OLB, so that wouldn't be a good move. I think the FA signings are good enough that the Bears have narrowed down their likely 1st round positions to: CB, LT, and QB. But suppose they are including RB in their consideration? The QB and RB portions of that really worries me.

What are your top 5 surprises and disappointments? Top 5 surprises: 1. John St Clair- the guy is handling some of the best DE's in football. 2. Kevin Payne- who knew this guy would be our leading tackler? 3. Matt Forte- I knew he was a stud, but I didn't know he'd be the favorite to win OROY. 4. Devin Hester (WR)- I was one of those guys who said he'd never be a good WR. Well, he's proving he can catch bombs and slants. 5. Kyle Orton- I had no idea he'd be this f***ing good. (honorable mention- Dvoracek, Harrison, Lloyd, Idonije, Beekman, Wolfe on ST) Top 5 disappointments: 1. Tommie Harris- the highest paid and "best" DT in football and he has 1 s…
