Early Line has Bears favored by 1 or a PK, depending on the sportsbook. JAX is 1-4, defense allowed 34, 24, and 47 their last 3 games. They barely beat a Flacco led Colts without Taylor. The Jags offense got going with 37 pts. This is going to be a close game, but I am going with 24-20 Bears going into the bye at 4-2. The Bears defense is the best unit amongst both teams.

A win keeps slim playoff hopes alive, a loss basically eliminates the team from the post season.

The news will come today on Cutler, if it is season long, are we now rebuilding for the future? Cutler would be a big loss, but I think our main problem is a porous defense with no bright light in the future. Our top two playmakers are hurt, hopefully not for long. Peppers is average at best. I would say OK at center is solid. I think Tait moves to ORT and is solid there. If you all were watching MNF tonight, I guess the league is announcing that they are going to make a new rule effective immedietly that you will be suspended for a "Devastating" hit or a "Blow to the head." There having a big debate about it now on ESPN. This is a joke, a flat out joke. You can't legislate hitting in football. Now everything that these guys have been taught about hitting they can no longer do. I was thinking how damn good Minnesota is defensively, how great their o-line is, & their RB's are top-notch. They have around 15 million cap-available. While their secondary sucks, their most glaring weakness is QB & WR. I'd take Mark Bradley/Devin Hester or Moose over ANY WR Minny has. MAYBE Tavaris Jackson isn't horrible, but why take that chance? Sadly & ironically the best WR on the market is Bernard Berrian. (Randy Moss is returning to NE IMO) The best QB available is Rex Grossman. McCaffrey accounts for 23.6% of the targets, and has 10 games with over 105 scrimmage yards. He accounts for 34.8% of the 49ers yards from scrimmage. Goodell and finances I agree with him. It's ridiculous. The amount these guys get paid is crazy, but to see a rookie get it is that much more insane. Some will argue about capitalism, but it's not an equal comparison. If it were, there would be bidding wars on each player coming straight out of college, there would be no cap, and the NY teams would be in the playoffs for 20 straight years like in baseball. It'll be so nice to see rookies actually have to do something to get paid, and not crap the bed, costing their franchise tons of money without production.

Unless a trade happens, I see the draft sucking. In my opinion, the Bears need serious upgrades at QB, OT, CB, S, DE in no specific order. QB - Cutler is done. The only one I want at #4 is Kizer, and that's even questionable for me. The others, particularly Trubinsky, would be a huge reach that early. OT - No top 4 guys there. The best guy is either Cam Robinson or Mike McGlinchey, and they're more mid-1st kind of guys. Around #10 at the highest. CB - The Bears have a bunch of maybes at CB right now.
