I find it very interesting that this ENTIRE board is mum on Kyles performance yesterday. I find it admirable that he played, dont get me wrong, but his lack of mobilty restricted play action calls and roll outs. If he couldnt play at an highlevel and he knew they would have to restrict the playbook due to his injury, he should not have played. We can debate all we want about the coaches and defense, but he was simply bad yesterday. He locked on receivers, he missed open guys downfield, he threw into coverage, he had 3 ball batted down at the LOS. He produced the fewest points, yards and first downs of any Bears game this year. Although I do believe he is bet…

  3. Clearly cutler has the tools, and more natural talent than Kyle Orton. Fine. But bringing him into this situation, namely a mediocre to poor defense with no secondary whatsoever, and no personnel movements made to shore up the secondary, and the most predictable offense in the leauge, was doomed from the start. While everyone was overcome with man-crushes on Cutler, I found myself wondering: is he going to play cornerback? Orton and offense were the BRIGHT spot last year, ie the Falcons game, the Carolina game, the Bucs game, all of which the defense gave up leads at the end. Of all the parties involved, Cutler has gotten the worst deal career wise. He may walk away…

I keep saying that this team has a very good shot of repeating what they did during the Superbowl year. I tell everyone that the injuries killed the Bears last year, and that the TV sportscasters don't know what the hell they're talking about. Then I see a thread with a theme questioning if the Bears have the best DL in the league. It wasn't totally blown out of the water, so I have to imagine that everyone takes the question seriously and places the Bears DL in the top 5 - rightfully so in my opinion. It's pretty clear the Bears have one of the best, if not the best, LB corp in the NFL. It's also evident that the Bears have one of the best DB combos in the …

I didn't know where to put this so I put it here. The bears met with Jamal Williams that played for Johnson when Swift was there. I haven't seen if they signed him, I've been traveling the last few days.

  8. Over my many years of watching Bears football I have had some real highs and a whole lotta lows but when it comes to me spiking the Bears cap on the ground or chucking it at the tube one player made me sicker than anyone when I watched his constant miscues. That was Lew Barnes who was a WR/returner on I think the 87 Bears team. He was an adventure each return and you didn't know if he would cleanly field the punt, take it to the house or fumble it after running 30 yards with it.That year I think the Bears were 12-4 and hosted the Skins at Soldier's Field in the playoffs. The Bears had two critical fumbles in the game one by Payton and the other from Barnes late in the game …

Just watched a video where they said Whitehair was definitely playing inside at OG. Maybe C. I'm not sure about this pick now. Is he a Slausson replacement? Is he a Grassu replacement? Doesn't matter the scenario, there is one problem remaining... No LT to push Leno. Leno may end up being the worst starting position player on the team this year, and that's not something you want in your LT.

  10. The early line has the Bears as +4.5 Dogs coming out of the bye. I think the line will shift as we get closer and determine the health of Daniels and McLaurin. Washington plays in LA at 3:25pm on Sunday, so they have to travel back home, but get an extra day of rest for MNF. So they very well could be 2-3 heading into the matchup with the Bears. The Commanders' offense is still putting up points, even with Mariota at QB. They scored 27 and lost to ATL, yet Mariota only threw for 156 yards. They had 147 rushing yards, which is what kept them in the game. The Bears need to shore up the run defense, especially if Daniels is back. Too early for predictions. W…

Seahawks Add WR Mike Hass by Ed Thompson of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, January 7, 2009 at 9:29pm ET Mike Hass Profile Scout.com has learned that former Chicago Bears wide receiver Mike Hass signed a two-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. Hass, who was released by the Bears at the end of August, had drawn early-season interest from both the Giants and the Seahawks. He was originally a sixth-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints back in 2006.

Free agent Byron Leftwich says he's lost 25 pounds and wants to join a team for training camp. His first Rotoworld post in 17 weeks. Dropping 25 lbs off his playing weight would put Leftwich at 6'5/225 and possibly enhance his mobility. Bears personnel director Bobby DePaul called Leftwich "an interesting guy," but the 28-year-old QB hasn't had so much as a free agent visit. Perhaps the Bears will give him a call if Kyle Orton doesn't separate himself this summer.

...and another one's gone. ********************************************************* ST. CLAIR LANDS IN CLEVELAND Posted by Mike Florio on March 17, 2009, 5:40 p.m. Tackle John St. Clair has opted to sign with the Browns, and to spurn the Bears. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times, Biggs has agreed to terms on a three-year, $9 million deal, with $600,000 guaranteed. The Bears had offered exactly half that amount — $4.5 million over three years. But Biggs says that the contract appears to be a series of one-year deals; this suggests that sizable roster bonuses are owed to St. Clair at the start of the 2010 and 2011 league years. …

The Denver Broncos may have seriously damaged their relationship with quarterback Jay Cutler. A source close to the situation confirmed the Broncos were trying to acquire quarterback Matt Cassel from the New England Patriots by dangling Cutler, their Pro Bowl quarterback. The trade talk infuriated Cutler, who now wants to leave the Broncos. The source said the proposed trade was a three-way deal that would have sent Cassel to Denver to reunite with former Patriots offensive coordinator and new Denver head coach Josh McDaniels, Cutler to Tampa Bay and compensation from Tampa Bay to New England. Cassel and linebacker Mike Vrabel were traded Saturday to D…

At this point, are we already just looking forward to the draft? Bears making stupid penalties, but get bailed out with an EZ interception. That's nice to see. And the OL is giving Hoyer a decent amount of time thus far. Of course, they're still running that "never ran it with Cutler"-offense, which adds a little something to it. Can't say I remember more than one or two naked bootlegs the entire time Cutler has been under center. Now with Hoyer? Once a drive. Go figure.
