I cant believe there hasnt been any action taken to try and shore up the extremely large gaps. Are we waiting for the 3rd preseason game cuts or what? ta what would it take to get Jason Peters maybe? hell with the way we draft id give up all our picks.. somethings gotta be done or we wont score a friggin touchdown all season

For some time, I have wonder if many of the problems we have on the team center around a simple lack of talent, or inability of the coaching staff. More than in recent past, I seem to be reading articles talking about how we run camp, which just really puts a focus on our coaches. For example, for years I have seen our players exhibit some very questionable tackling. Then I read about how we do not really allow our players to tackle, or to finish tackles, in camp. Its more like we practice flag football in camp. The point was made, how can you work on tackling technique when you are not allowed to tackle? But for this, what I am curious about is the OL. Against…

  6. August 18, 2008 Orton chosen over Grossman as starting quarterback By Larry Mayer LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The suspense about who would line up under center Sept. 7 in the season opener in Indianapolis ended Monday when Kyle Orton was anointed the Bears’ starting QB. Coach Lovie Smith cited several factors in choosing Orton over Rex Grossman, concluding a widely publicized competition that began in the spring and continued into the summer. Kyle Orton has compiled a 12-6 record as a starting quarterback in three seasons. “To come to a decision like that, we’ve taken a lot of things into consideration—last year, how we finished the season, OTAs, …

Any thoughts????????? The conservative Chicago Bears shocked the football world by acquiring Buffalo Bill and All- Pro left tackle Jason Peters.... and Today, a smiling Lovie Smith announced the Chicago Bears acquired Buffalo Bill holdout tackle Jason Peters and Tampa QB Jeff Garcia. Am I missing something

The Score is reporting Orton will be announced as the starter after practice today.

from profootballtalk.com SCOUTS GALORE WATCH SIMMS WORK Posted by Tom Mantzouranis on August 18, 2008, 1:43 p.m. It’s been almost two years since a majority of the football-loving world first learned of the word “splenectomy” thanks to the in-game destruction of Chris Simms’ insides. Meaning it’s been almost two years of uncertainty over whether he’d be healthy enough to play football again, and if so whether he’d be doing so in pewter. With Simms healthy, the Bucs saturated with quarterbacks and moving on, and final cuts looming, that uncertainty will soon be over. Either the Bucs will trade Simms, or they’ll release him at the last minute before having to…

Well, we're 2 pre-season games into the new season and we seem to have more questions than we may have initially thought... I also have noticed an abundance of "I told you so's" and "don't be negative's" flowing quite heavily. Heck, I'm personally guilty of both things to some degree! I was one of many who claimed that we shouldn't go so heavy after OL in the draft. While I thought we would make splashes in FA (Faneca), I was still sure the OL wouldn't be that much of an issue. Man, was I wrong! I've already posted about eating my plate of crow... Also, I've been quite harsh on the management and coaching staff. While I still am unsatisfied...I'll simply curb …

One of my good friends, a Seahawks fan, was at the game this weekend. Immediately after completion he texted me four messages. 1) Seahawks D > Bears O 2) Bears D > Seahawks O 3) Seahawks scrubs > Bears scrubs 4) Please tell me that isn't your starting OL I could care less about the first two messages, because they're the equivalent of saying "the sun is hot", and the third may or may not be true. The fourth statement, however, really troubles me. I called him later and he said that there were no holes to run through, and no pass blocking for the QBs to use. He said he didn't even see a Bears RB appear to have any impact. While we sit arou…

  12. Bears Offensive Problems: More Than the Players http://chicagobearsfanforum.com/blog/?p=280 It looks to me like the QB question got settled last night. I agree with the writers from both The Chicago Sun-Times and The Chicago Tribune. I think WR Brandon Lloyd stepped up and won a job for both himself and Kyle Orton. In Orton's case, its' like being 3 feet tall in a land of midgets. But for better or worse, I think the Bears made their decision. Its also apparent that the Bears have offensive problems other than QB. No, I'm not talking about the banged up offensive line. I'm not talking about mediocre WRs. Those are big ones but what I'm thinking about…

I think Baldwin and Harrison played good games. Toeaina and Graham also J.Williams. Its going to be tuff to left some of these players go. But who do you think that will get the cuts first when we go down to 75?

Watching the replay on NFLN this morning, I noticed how well rounded Forte's game really is right now as a rookie. I love how he always falls forward when running but what I really liked was his pass blocking. I only saw him whiff on a block once, the rest of the time he was picking up blitzes like a pro. My favorite Forte play though was on the interception. He never gave up on the play and ran down their corner and tackled him hard. Our defense came out and held them to a FG instead of what looked to be an easy defensive TD. I also want to recognize Idonije who continues to play his ass off despite not getting too many accolades in the press.

Individual Notes (in no real order) IN THE GOOD 1. Orton - seems to know he "won" the "job" 2. Forte - i know its preseason, but i think he may be the new Neal Anderson (means alot coming from me, fav bear of all time) 3. Llyod - actually liking this guy. I think now since he plays WITH Mike Brown he wont be such a pussy anymore 4. Bennett - great runback, dont know how good of a reciever cuz our offense bites, but i like his play 5. Urlacher - still looks as psycotic as always 6. Harrison - really plowing people and closing lanes 7. J. Williams - definately the 4th LB. good interception (notice what happens when u blitz) 8. Idoneji - really cloggi…
