Smith expressed confidence that Terrence Metcalf, Josh Beekman or John St. Clair will fill the void at left guard after the Bears declined to re-sign veteran Ruben Brown. “One of them will step up in that role and give us the type of play we need,” Smith said. At receiver, Smith praised offseason acquisition Brandon Lloyd and revealed that Mark Bradley will participate in the first training camp practice after recovering from offseason knee surgery. “Brandon Lloyd has made as much progress and has looked as [good] as any of our players we’ve had in offseason work,” Smith said. “I’m anxious to see him take it to this next phase of getting ready for the seaso…

I thought this was interesting for 2 reasons. 1. Williams still not signed. 2. Kevin Jones arms make him look like a linebacker (are we sure he's not related to Thomas???) Here's the article: As Bears arrive, top pick still unsigned By Vaughn McClure, 2:52 p.m. BOURBONNAIS -- Mike Brown parked his blazing red Hummer, then strode into McClain Hall already wearing his game face. Yes, Bears training camp is here. Players made their way to Olivet Nazarene University on Tuesday afternoon. The deadline for reporting is midnight. While most eagerly are anticipating the arrival of Brian Urlacher -- who agreed to a one-year extension Monday -- t…

  9. Special Teams Article at Bears Site They just posted the 9th and final position article on the Bears Website. To be honest, the previous 8 I found very uninteresting as it seemed like typical coach-speak and gave really no information we did not already know or suspected. This one actually was interesting to me and gave an insight to some changes in special teams that might take place. If you have yet to go to the team site (my home page, LOL) you should check out the article. It talks about some changes being made in personel, a change in Goulds KO technique, players to keep an eye on with special teams, etc... Good stuff!!

Redskins get DE Taylor from Dolphins after Daniels goes down ASHBURN, Va. -- Jason Taylor wanted out of Miami, and Bill Parcells seemed only too happy to trade the "Dancing with the Stars" defensive end. So when the Washington Redskins lost a starting lineman to a season-ending injury Sunday, a significant swap quickly got done. The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-round choice in 2010 for Taylor, who is leaving the only NFL team he's known. The six-time Pro Bowl defensive end -- who was the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year -- fell out of favor in Miami after spending his offseason on a TV show rather than working…

It's time to start some predictions about who steps up this year to contribute more than expected heading into training camp. Last years' defensive surprise had to be McBride who ended up getting a lot of playing time last year and did well in coverage. He was talked about quite a bit in camp. If there was an offensive surprise last year although Olson made a lot of highlight catches in camp. As a first round pick that was kinda expected. This year my picks will be: Defense/special teams - Corey Graham. This kid played well on special teams at the end of the year I think he ends up as our 3rd CB this year ahead of McBride. 3rd CB does not mean he…

From the Bears website: http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=4871 What were your impressions of Danieal Manning at the nickel position in offseason workouts? Danieal picked up everything at that position real quick. Now we have a guy playing underneath who has athletic ability, speed and quickness. He’s also a physical guy that we know can support the run. I’m very pleased right now the way he’s picked things up and progressed throughout OTAs. I think he’s going to be a great nickel for us. ****************************************************************** We all know the coaches aren't going to call out a guy in public nor do I wa…

  17. Myself & two other people were on seperate computers at noon last Saturday to try & get Bears tickets, with very little luck. I was just curious as to how damn hard it is to get through on these or if anyone had any luck? The only luck was 50 minutes into two tickets for the home opener came up. After trying for so long, I got all excited and clicked "confirm" without looking & went to try & get more. Finally after an hour & a /2 I gave up, and looked to see what I'd bought . . . I about shit when I saw the total cost for two was $540.00. They're United Airline/Cadillac Club Seats which are apparantly bad seats with minor VIP privileges (whi…
