Here is my thought for preparation for next year.... Cut/Trade: Brian Urlacher-If we can trade him for a 2nd round pick or better, let's dump him and plug in a young guy, we have several young LB's that can do as well... Dusty D-Cut/too much injury Kevin Jones-Cut if we are not going to use him Booker-Cut/not working out, although it makes me sad to see him go, he was a good one but seems to be too old. Vasher-Cut unless he is willing to restructure his contract Mark Anderson-Reduce contract or cut Harris-Reduce contract or cut R Davis-Use only as a backup OLine-Consider cuts to R Garza and O Kreutz...I admit I am not sure…

A trade for an early 5th rounder. They got their guy who some expected to go at #122, at #144 so depending on the trade value, it seems like a great pick. It cost next year's 4th. So assuming they are a fringe playoff team, that pick is in the 120s for 144.

Anyone else tired of Chalk Talk? I know it should be obvious that he works for the Bears etc, but he is Lovie-like in his political non-speak drivel week after week....the latest example: " know that there have been numerous theories on why the Bears are struggling offensively, but would you agree that inconsistency along the offensive line may be the culprit as it all starts with the guys up front? Chris Highland, New York The offensive line certainly hasn’t performed up to expectations, but I don’t see how you can single out five players when there are 11 on the field. Every player and coach on the Bears offense must share the blame for a unit that has…

Who would you take if we had the #1 overall pick? I'd take Crabtree. It's just the Fitzgerald factor- after watching him over the playoffs, I think he's the closest thing to Fitz that's come out in a while- good size, good hands, not overwhelming speed, quiet guy, etc.

7:20pm, Sunday Night Football, September 9th, Bears +8, Over/Under 47.5, NBC This felt like the longest preseason ever! I am so ready for real football. Here is what I think about the Week 1 matchup with the Fudge Packers: Based on last year's numbers, the Bears have the better defense, and you could argue now have better RB's, WR's, and TE's. The Packers have Graham, Adams, Cobb, and Montgomery compared to Burton, Robinson, Miller, Gabriel, Howard, and Cohen. I am not even counting Shaheen or White. QB is probably the only position the Packers have a definitive edge and that difference is hard to quantify. Rodgers was hurt last year and came back…

I am shocked the line is only GB -1.5. They must be assuming Fields will play. We don't even know if Rodgers or Love will start. It will be interesting to see the injury report for both teams on Wednesday. I assume Fields is going to be another game time decision, but GB may know more about Rodgers my mid-week. So for right now, if Fields starts, I am going Bears 23-20 and if Siemian starts, Packers 27-17.

I had work and forgot to post it last night but here's what I can remember: 1. Jurko specifically pretty much said that for Angelo to say QB is a need is a joke because any QB will struggle behind such an OL. Angelo said that OL isn't that big of a need quite yet. He specifically mentioned Beekman as playing well this past year, too. IN OTHER WORDS: Don't count on Jordan Gross, or a RT or a RG in the first 2 rounds come April. 2. Angelo mentioned that he thinks the players were fine this past year but the coaching wasn't there. He said for now they'll try some new coaches that have experience and know our system. IN OTHER WORDS: Don't count on Peppers or Sug…

I honestly feel sorry for him. I wouldn't blame him one bit if he said screw it and walked out on this team.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8231...o-bowl-wr-lloyd Is this a player that possesses the "talent" many of you describe? I recall him playing in Chicago before. Dude catches just about everything thrown his way.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,4048044.column Interesting article. I agree with parts of it. To me it comes down to o-line & d-line being more of a priority. That and he doesn't mention Greg Olsen who is technically a TE, but he's a big contributor in the receiving department. Two things I disagree with: 1. "I have heard so much bashing about the Bears receivers that I started to question my own judgment. So I went to a pro scout I respect from another team who has studied them extensively. Here's his assessment: 'They are all different, and it's an above-average group. They are difficult to defend and probably second in the NFC …

Great news. Dvoracek and Harris in the middle, when healthy, could be one of the best tackle tandems in the league. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=4296
