    Welcome to 4-12

I never put anybody on a pedestal and show me where I acted like all GM's are god. I just have no time for people who think they could better with no true understanding of what the the job entails. We deal with it a ton at the high school football level. Every dad or joe schmoe who has ever watched a football game thinks they know everything there is to know about football. And when the going is tough more and more people are experts. For example, our whole high school staff switched schools about five years ago to a school who played in an easy region and got to the state playoff only to get demolished in the first round. We switched the old offense from a five wide type to a running type offense and a man to man defense to a cover two. Our first year was bad in the transition, and everybody and their brother was an expert and telling us what we should do. But each year we did better, as we built the program up in our style and we had less and less experts each year. Last year we played for the state championship and nobody said nothing. Its funny because I would tell all those people in the early years to go apply for a job and they too would give the same excuses. They dont have time or whatever. But they sure had time to tell us what we should be doing even though they had no idea what it took to build a good program. Same thing here. You think you could be a NFL GM, but can't do it for whatever reason. And the Theo comparison was purely to exemplify that you could get to a GM position in a relatively short period of time cause you had made the statement that you didn't have time to go be a high school coach and work your way up. I am done debating you too. Again I love how you call me ignorant, but I am not the one saying they would be such a great NFL GM. HAve a nice day Sir!!!!!
  2. I agree it seems like both. I also question if Kruetz is good at making protection calls at the line. They always seem to be in the wrong protection and that falls on him.
  3. I hope not. I didn't think he looked too good last year and he hasn't looked good this year either.
  4. Oh you mean the one where Mr Game manager had a pick and 2 fumbles? Or the one en route to the Super Bowl?

    Welcome to 4-12

Calm down brother. In seven years you could be an NFL GM too. Just tell all those guys to come over here and read all of your brilliant posts. You can show them your record at predicting drafts on the boards and amaze them with who you would have taken instead of the Bears GM. Then you can wow them with your expert complaints of the Oline situation and all of your witty retorts. Then they will be in awe of who you would have taken instead of Benson and Hester. You could also dazzle them with the first all OL draft in the history of the world. You can start as a PR guy and in SEVEN YEARS MR CAPS you could be GM of the Bears and really show us all whats up. I also love how you think you are an NFL GM, yet I am ignorant. That, sir, is comedy you can't get anywhere else but here. Oh and you are right. The Theo comparison is a bad one. He actually had the nerve to prove how good a GM he is.
  6. Forget it dude. I have tried the same argument for the past year and gotten nowhere. These guys would much rather have a qb who manages us to 3 and outs than have the gunslinger who is going to put on a show and maybe throw a couple of picks in the mix. Nevermind the SB appearance and stuff like that. Anyway, here's hoping Kyle figures out how to read a long receiver and is actually figures out how to get him the ball. I'll be looking forward to all the game managing and stepping up into the pocket. lol

    Welcome to 4-12

lol The whole "u get a GM" job was a joke, just like the notion that you could be one at all.
  8. Yeah like you should be talking nfo.

    Welcome to 4-12

If you can see it, you can be it , big guy. Theo Epstien got to his job in relatively little time. You can too.

    Welcome to 4-12

lol Good one. I am just amazed that jason still remains without a GM job. Hopefully he gets one with Green Bay or Minnisota. (I would say Detriot but they are all set with MM)
  11. lol Fantastic. Omaha you hit it right on the head.

    Welcome to 4-12

It always amazes me that the "messege board All Stars" always say they can do it better and never go and try. Quit your job and present your plan.

    Welcome to 4-12

God, amen to that brother. Well said.
  14. The good thing is that after a mistake he didn't snowball it, he came right back and drove them down for a score.

    Welcome to 4-12

I posted this in another post. 11 of those sacks were in two games the Giants and Seahawks. Both with top end pass rushes. But if you really looked at the stats, Rex actually had pretty good games in both. Over 250 yrd.

    Welcome to 4-12

There is a difference between pressure and getting hit before you can look at anything.

The bigger problem with the performance of the oline last night is that you can't really get a good evaluation of the QBs. U cant evaluate the QB when at the end of his 5 step drop he is getting hit.
  18. Cause when the linemen pull out for the screen, they dont hit anybody.
  19. Yeah Moose is a real class act. That guy is garbage.
  20. A-Come I think you know that all his mid round picks are awesome. Thats common knowledge lol B-He did well enough drafting and signing people to get us back to the super bowl. And he is gold getting draft picks signed and rewarding our own. C- I'm sure at the time they liked Benson. I'm sure they thought he wasn't going to be a big piece of crap. And the talk of the time was Mike Williams. I'm just saying it would interesting to look at other GM's drafts and have something to compare JA to.
  21. Its good for me. I would like to have that one when I draft on Monday. The only thing that I hesitate with Peterson is its his second year.
  22. Well there is a certain way to attack the pocket so you dont give up contain or cut back lanes. Running straight ahead upfield so you make it easy for the tackle to ride you aint it.
  23. Dude, I totally agree with you on this subject. Just like you said with Anderson, his rookie year he was just doing what he did on instinct. Then when he was coached up he looked like trash. I think that X's and O' wise our coaches are decent. They are some things that I would do differently as far as play calls and such. But I dont think they do a good job teaching technique as I see our guys often doing things and I am like WTF. And alot of times I dont know if it is just the player being lazy, cause I see our defense look like they go through the motions sometimes, or its poor teaching. I would think that it is tough to get some of those guys to do what you wanted. As a high school coach, I am much more in control of the players. If my MLB doesn't hustle I can make him run, sit his butt down, etc. I wouldn't think they could or would do that to Url or Briggs. I see Briggs do poor fundamentals all the time. He misses a ton of tackles, but also makes a ton of plays. Imagine what he would do if he just used better technique when breaking down and tackling. Also our coaches player development is suspect IMO. Look at Daniel Manning, dude has a ton of physical talent but they jerk him around and he doesn't look like he is coached up. JA loves to take the small school guys and thats fine is you have good teachers as coaches. I dont think we do. The thing that I was always told as a young coach was "at the end of the day, the players reflect the coach". Now that I am experienced I always tell that to the younger guys because they will make excuses on why their kids aren't doing what they need to do. The job of a coach is to get the players to do what you want them to do by whatever means possible. The same method might not work with everybody because everyone learns differently and has a different background. A bad coach will just say this is the way it is and its the players fault. Thats why it sucks when you see Bobby Wade's , Justin Gage's, and Chris Harris' go and be productive elsewhere. Thats kind of an indication of how our coaching staff is. I like Lovie, but I'm not sure of our position coaches.
  24. You know what might actually be useful? A comparison of other GM's and their track records. JA has had some good picks and bad picks. But I would love to see that in comparison to other GM's. Especially some of the top ones. And just remember, if it wasn't Benson it was Mike Williams.
