Never labeled Brown as a cheap shot artist. There you go embellishing again. I said, in this instance, it is dissappointing to me that Brown would be a part of, IMO, taking cheap shot( hitting harder than you do against the other backs) in half pads the product of which injured another teammate. You say its ok because Benson was not liked, his work ethic sucked, etc. I say thats bullcrap, because even if you dont like the guy, its not their job to punish RB's for that. Its been further said that they did it more because they thought TJ deserved the #1 spot more. Again, not the defenses call and I dont see how you can argue it is. Remember the reason TJ got dropped down, was because he didn't like his contract and missed some of the workouts. Lovie usually will demote a guy for a couple of practices. He did it with Briggs, but the offense didn't take it upon themselves to beat the crap out of that backup. Also remember that this was two years ago, when Benson had shown some promise his rookie year and was pushing for playing time anyway. So, again, my point is that its not the defenses job to hit some players harder for their own selfish reasons. Benson got hurt and therefore the team was hurt. And you have no idea what the effects of that had on Bensons development. I just dont see how you guys defend that. And dont come at me with all the recent stuff, because this happened well before that.
-
So why not hit TJ and AP just as hard? Those hard hits would get them ready too, right?
-
And thank you for making my point. Its the NFL, not the junior high play ground where you pick on somebody because they are against your friend. Its the pros. Its a job. Its about winning. If the d wants to be such tough guys, hit everyone the same.
-
I guess you guys dont really see my point. Its not about Benson. You can take Benson's name and insert any other players name. The thing that i am mad about is the report that the defense takes it upon themselves to try and "take out" someone they dont like so their buddy can start. Its not their job to hurt their own teammates and it makes the team worse if they do that. And I'm sorry Mad, but Benson is better than AP. Its really dissappointing to me that Brown, Briggs, and Url would take part in that. And its surprises me because Brown knows the effects of cheap shots.

Well the NFL is alot different now than in '85. So I'm not sure if you can use that to back up this. That's alot like Gale Sayers trying to relate the two eras. It just doesn't work because the circumstances are much different. I also think that intentionally hitting a teammate harder because "you dont like him" projects a negative energy that is not needed. It is also not the defenses job to analyze the running backs and "punish" them accordingly. That is the coaches job to decide who is #1 and #2. So you are saying that "taking out" Benson was better for the team because Jones, Peterson and PJ Pope is better than Jones, Benson, and Peterson. I dont buy it. I am not using this as a point to say it was wrong to release Ced Benson cause I am glad he is gone too, but I a not happy with these reports as it is starting to sound like that had something to do with hampering Ced development on the field. And as a fan that wants the best players out there, it angers me.

WHoa, please dont put words into my mouth. I never said I wished ill on anybody. I just noticed the Karma factor. But everybody on here is saying "Benson deserved it" and all that cause the defense didn't like him. This is the NFL, not junior high. If Benson had a shot to make the team better and Briggs, Url, Brown, etc were hitting him extra hard so he would be dinged up or hurt so their buddy TJ would start, then that is indefensable. Its bullcrap and I expect better from the "leaders" of our team because ultimately it hurts the team. This is exactly why they dont do physical "hazing" of the rookies anymore like they did in the old days. They make them get water or dress up like girls, because there is too much money invested in these young guys these days. The team might have to depend on one of those guys lining up. Now, if Cedric Benson's development was hampered, in any way, because of his injury by the defense "sending a message" to Ced because they didn't personally like him, to Lovie because Ced was starting, or to anybody else it has hurt the team. Bottom line. And as a fan, I dont appreciate it.

Yes but trying to hurt a teammate so your buddy starts is unacceptable to me. If you dont like a dude or think he is acting bad pull him aside and talk man to man. I remember seeing those hits and thought it was a little weird. And if Mike Brown hurt Benson with a cheap shot like that, its seems karma got him back last year.
-
The fact that Briggs would do that to a teammate and potentially harm him and potentially harm the team is pretty BS and a coward move IHO. I don't care if you like the guy or not. I played on team where I didn't like some players, but I would never try and hurt them on purpose because it would hurt the team. To me that shows Briggs is a coward and a poor teammate.

I agree with alot of what you guys are putting down. I'm with you , jason. I think Wolfe showed us some explosive playmaking last year. I like a Forte/Wolfe combo. If AP is anything more than a special teams guy and insurance in case of emergency, we are in deep poop. I wouldn't mind a flyer on a KEvin Jones either.
-
Really though, noone knows what Wolfe is capable of. We really haven't seen enough to give a good evaluation.

Benson Crying at Draft cause he hated Bears picking him?!

And the part where he says he'd rather win the Heisman vs the national championship is where.... -
I thought the same thing. I wonder if all the players were laughing their butts off. Seriously, who gets SENT HOME from OTA's.
-
Whatever. Didn't like that akshaz post was called the dumbest ever. Take care of the source and I wont have to pipe up.
-
Like you should talk crap about dumb posts....
-
Well it was either him or Mike Williams. At least we got a little productivity out of him.
-
lol So what does HEster do to it?
-
lol. Its funny. The first thing a white dude says when a racial issue is brouht up is "I have a black friend". And i think its incredibily ignorant to say that racial profiling doesn't exist. Dude, you brought up their "great police work". Again I ask where was the great police work??? The "river cops" boarding his boat so many times that they finally drummed up something to charge him with? Or a cop pulling over what was probably the only car out at 3:00am which happened to be a nice car driven by huge black guy? You should sign those guys up for CSI. As a guy who lets underage people drink in his house, I would think you would have some sort of compassion for the situation. lol BTW I think it is hilarious that Benson got "sent home" today from practice. What a moron.
-
ummm talking about the two alcohol related incidents. College kids for possession of pot, shoot if they did that for every student 85% of colleges would be in jail. And I dont know how good of police work it was. They wern't tracking down a serial killer. The river fake cops harrassed him enough until they finally got him for something and the other cop pulled over a black guy in a nice car at 3:00 in the morning.
-
Man that is true in the AZ. It is BIG time revenue for the different city police departments. The set up elaborate traps. Like I've said before, I've gotten pulled over sober numerous times for bullcrap reasons.
-
Well if you say that twice is a pattern, then certainly getting pulled over SIX times for a "safety inspection" is a pattern to me. To me getting boarded six times for that is clear harrassment. If it was me, they would not have gotten past three without me gaining legal representation and pressing the issue.
-
No. I think the fake cops were in the wrong there. There is a clear pattern of harassment. However I feel Benson is a moron for not laying low.
-
Looks like I'm done back this guy up. What a moron!!!!

Bears envision ground game carrying offensive turnaround
azbearsfan replied to DrunkBomber's topic in Bearstalk
The Giants are a running team. They won the super bowl. Their qb only had a 73.9 rating. -
Plus that Nebraska kid gives us some great depth. Hopefully that will give Bowman a chance to develop.

I know but I just wanted to throw out the term "pocket wizard". I also agree with you that they get crazy conservative when Kyle is in. I too would like to see what Krazy Kyle can do with carte blanche.
