Released from Denver. Since Tillman doesn't want to play S and apparently Emery doesn't have much in the way of loyalty, would the Bears have use of him as a potential Safety?

Two items caught my eye yesterday: Chad Henne signed a two year deal for $8mil Matt Cassell signed a two year deal for $10mil If that's the market for backup and/or care-taker QBs while rookies learn the ropes, goodbye Josh McCown. He did a great job for us and if he can now get a similar contract to those above then that's great for him and his family. It's just not a deal the Bears can do given all the needs on defense.

Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 9m .@DanWiederer reports #Bears closing in on a contract for LB D.J. Williams to return. http://bit.ly/1h7u6by More than likely another vet min deal, or near it. Believe he played for a mill last year, probably gets less after another injury plagued season. Would provide nice competition to Bostic and SMD (Greene as well I suppose). I still expect 2 of those 3 to be the starters. ****EDIT*** Done deal, details later.

but at least they didn't embarass themselves tonight. I was really worried they would get blown out. Impressions: 1 - Orton was marginal. I will give him a break since this was his first game back and he had to play in a hell hole. His accuracy, however, must improve the next two games. 2 - Nice game from Url. Good to see him step up on national TV. 3 - Get Hester off the field on offense. Orton has enough to worry about - he shouldn't have to line him up on every play. I want to see Bradley or Hass get those reps. Devin needs serious time in the offseason working at WR. 4 - Win the turnover battle by 3 and lose the game - dammit. How …

The good (yes, there were some good things, just not many) 1. Toeaina. First game, matching up w/ a pair of the best inside OL in the game (Hutch & Burk) and he not only held his own, but made some plays and busted some runs, forcing AP to alter coarse into the arms of waiting tacklers. Walker who? 2. Maynard. He had some huge kicks. One was a huge 55 yarder w/ great hangtime from our own 3 yard line. Several other big kicks, and w/ great hangtime. 3. Numerous areas of defense. We passed up the cover 2 (as we should have the first game) and stacked the box. We did well against their run game, made plays and forced turnovers. 4. Coverag…

After seeing today's games, it is evident that they should wait until the season is completely finished before voting. If you think about it, there is no reason to do it with 2+ games remaining with the Pro Bowl being played AFTER the Super Bowl. Urlacher would almost be a guarantee after his last two games: 8 tackles, 1 Fumble Recovery, 2 Sacks, 2 Interceptions, 2 Passes Defended, and a Touchdown. He is now the only player in the league with 4 or more Sacks and Interceptions.

As per profootballtalk.com. Reportedly it was a low signing bonus with a good annual salary. No other details were available. Damn that was quick. I read the headline on PFT, "Wahle signs" and my first thought was, "Did the Bears get him?!"

Angelo stated that he wanted to make sure he had cap room available, not just to sign his own guys, but to try and sign free agents also. Depending on what happens with Berrian, the most likely positions Angelo will target IMO are RB & OG. I know there's speculation we'll draft a running back, but we've done so early two of the last 3 years and have little to show for it. I've posted ESPN Insider's running-back story below. I think we'll target Julius Jones. He won't cost nearly what Michael Turner will cost, and most of the other guys aren't much of an upgrade over Adrian Peterson. Turner and Kreider highlight free-agent RB/FB classes Runni…

If you could change one piece of the Bears, no matter what it is, and the sole purpose was to make them better, what would you change? I think I'd go with an OC. I'd like the Bears to hire a guy who is well establishe, well known for being successful, a guy who is considered a good gametime adjuster, and someone who has a track record for QB development. Is there even a guy like this?!

Is anybody else worried about our chances going into the 08' season. I am beginning to wonder what the Bears are thinking. I cannot believe that they truly think it is possible to find a starting LT, LG, WR, potential starting RB, and starting quality safety, not to mention a third QB and depth at DT all in one draft. Angelo has been sitting on his hands while potential quality at htese positions has been gobbled up in free agency and not every contract has broken the bank. I am still wondering why we have yet to make an offer to Olivea, or Eugene Wilson. Mike Brown seems to be hurt every year, and Archuletta is terrible. Danile Manning may become a good free safety…

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-bear05.article It's easy to say "Oh no, not another Texas RB", but he's quite a bit different than Benson and even Williams with his speed (4.38 40 at the combine). Plus, while he's not terribly physical, he does have legit size for the NFL and brings a pure speed dimension our RBs don't currently have. I haven't watched a lot of his games, but a friend of mine who follows Texas football says he's one of those guys who can get stuffed for 3 plays and then take it to the house, so he's inconsistent when you watch him, but at the end of the day, the numbes are there. Any other thoughts on him?

I guess word locally is that Chris Williams is the Bears pick. (espnradio1000 radioshow host Dan McNeil said his sources inside halas told him) BUt then i see this http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFLDr.../wwhi042308.htm The greatest need of the Texans, at No. 18, is a left tackle, and Vanderbilt’s Chris Williams could be available. The way we hear it, concerns about the variations in the size of Williams’ arms and legs, with one being shorter than the opposite limb, could affect his status. Furthermore, multiple team sources say he has been removed from consideration on their draft boards for medical reasons, which could play into the Texans’ favor. …

http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=201295&src=148 His base salary of $360,000 last season was the league minimum, as is the $445,000 base he's scheduled to make this season. But for now, he's willing to be patient. "It's tough, but I did sign a contract, so I'm obligated to come out here," he said. "I'd be reneging if I didn't show up, but at the same time it's very frustrating. I do want to get paid. But I'm not going to sit here and complain about not getting paid enough. I'm going to come out here and play ball."

  19. I was reading some of the Benson stuff and I started thinking...what did we really lose from last year? Rubin Brown: He played injured for 8 games, then went on IR. Fred Miller: He played in every game, but not very well. In fact, he caused as many problems as just about anybody on the team IMO. Moose: 40 receptions and 3 TD's. He had more drops than TD's. Berrien: 71 receptions and 5 TD's. not bad, bu not really good eaither. Again more Drops than TD's Griese: While his 10 TD's were OK, his 12 picks cost us at least two games Benson: 674 yards and 4TD's. not exactly a pro-bowl type year. While thst list looks like starters all over the pla…
