Between the Watson thread and other places - it looks like many (if not the majority) lean towards not going after Watson (given the direct cost). TB allowed the fewest rushing yards in Week 1. The Bears had the 6th most. TB's offense was not good, but they still won due to MIN turnovers. The turnover battle is going to be the key to victory. Both teams scored 20 pts, so that seems like a fair number for the winning team. With TB winning in Week 1, and Mayfield not throwing an INT, I think the Bears have a chance to win this one. Does anyone else think its weird that Grossman hasnt been IRed yet or that we havent signed anyone else? Are we only carrying Orton and Griese for this game? I wonder if theres any chance Grossman isnt done for the season. We havent gotten any kind of description or timeline of his injury that I know of.

Listening to Bill Polian today on ESPN,who knows a thing or two about drafting for a 3-4 scheme he said that he felt the Bears would bring a veteran in on every level of the defense that knows the scheme and will help with the transition. He was spot on and this was before the signing of Foster. This is clearly looking like they are adding depth and competition in the front 7 and still need help in the secondary at corner. Although a few mocks are starting to project Cooper to the Bears and I would love that but, selecting Waynes would be a long term move for the defense. At 7 he may be the BPA that the Bears do need also.

With the two ILBs and Unrein signed, and an OT to set the right edge, it worries me the Bears may actually be thinking about a QB in the first. What else makes sense? -Ragland and Mack are out in my opinion. -Way too deep at DE to spend the pick there. -The Bears best defensive position is OLB, so that wouldn't be a good move. I think the FA signings are good enough that the Bears have narrowed down their likely 1st round positions to: CB, LT, and QB. But suppose they are including RB in their consideration? The QB and RB portions of that really worries me.

I just found out the Shoopster is the OC for NC. Yeah, that would be the NC football team that went 4-8 this year. I know they aren't generally considered a football powerhouse or anything, I just wanted to let all the Shoop haters out there know bad things continue to happen to him.

Right now we have a good team shaping up. But we could be even better if we got rid of Metcalf and went out and signed C/G Bentley. We just might lose Manning Jr, but we are good in the depth in the back secondary. We don't need Lynch....too slow now. If we are going to pick up a QB Farve would be a great addition, or Culpepper would be better if Farve didn't fall to us. I just don't like the idea of Henine being a starter if Rex/Orton get hurt. The draft got us 2 really good players, the last 3 are a head scatcher. My suggestions for FA's. There is rumors of going after Cullen Jenkins, of which we will spend alot for. a good move Also I think we will go after a OG of which we wont spend alot on, so I am throwing in the name Duece Lutui. big guy and mean. There are fewer questions on defense, but Smith said he expects Mike Brown to move to free safety after playing strong safety last season. Brown has played free in the past. The move could have ramifications for Manning, who is considered a better free safety than strong. Smith said he expects Manning to compete at strong safety with Brandon McGowan, Kevin Payne and Adam Archuleta. He also left open the possibility the Bears could add a safety in the coming months.
