OK, what we're seeing on this team is what many of us have been prognosticating for a while now. 1. Rex is not as good as Orton. But I don't fault him for the loss yesterday. He can only do what he can. This staff should have seen that floor and made moves accordingly running the ball more and taking the ball out of Rex's hands. 2. To say our D is piss poor, isn't fair to piss. I'll get into details, but the bottom line is this defense is awful. We're like the Pat's in SBXX. Personally, from what I have read, seen, and heard about Ron Turner, he's a pretty great offensive mind. His problem is inconsistency, boneheaded/very conservative play calling at times, and lack of weapons on offense. However, that last point might be the biggest reason why Turner has never taken off as an OC. I don't really remember the Bears from 93-96 as I was very young, but IIRC, we didn't have much offensive talent during those years. And those Illini teams he coached didn't have much talent on offense either (but that is kind of his fault considering they were his recruiting classes. This team sucks in multiple areas, but has enough talent to surprise opponents. Several games were close. A few breaks here or there and this team is easily around .500. However, being around .500 every year is eventually what got Lovie fired. Nobody wants that again. So, the team needs to pull off a Herschel Walker trade IMO. But how much is too much? So there has been a lot of media energy on this lately, so I thought it deserved its own thread. It seems that the idea comes from a couple of data points, first Poles said during the Senior Bowl that they assess every position, every year, including QB. So from the trade Fields side, this is an indication that Poles is not all-in on Fields. That's it. On the flip side, Poles knows he loses some leverage if it is known that he is moving off the pick regardless. Figure I'd start a new thread just to capture some combine players who stood out to me. I haven't watched everything from day 1 yet and most of these guys I'll have to go find some film on. DT Dante Stills. Smooth athlete, maybe a bit of a tweener but could be a good depth option on day 3. DT. Calijah Kancey ran a 4.67 forty. I've got a little time on my hands this morning so here it goes. Bijan Robinson is a bigger faster stronger version of Christian McCaffry. Why not draft this talent? Everyone is hesitant to pay a RB , but you really don't have to worry about it until year 8, after the fifth year option and two years of franchising. He's the most complete offensive weapon in the draft. Why not?

I’ve never been so pumped and excited about having a quarterback the caliber of Caleb Williams since the Super Bowl Shuffle - 46 quarterbacks since then. I was happy about Justin Fields when we moved up to get him. I truly thought we have our “It” quarterback. Now, three years later, Fields is not “It.” He doesn’t have the vision of a quarterback. Picking Williams on the first pick will turn around the Chicago Bears’ misfortune of having bad to mediocre to good quarterbacks. Finally, we’ll have an “It” quarterback.

I'm thinking, without looking up individual arm lengths, that Poles favors longer armed prospects and wanted to have a discussion or thoughts on how he's choosing his prospects. Last year, we had a OT and several DL come through his draft process and I wanted to predict which Line prospects are Poles dudes. This year, the only OC prospects, that I can tell you off the top of my head with longer that 33" arms is PSU's center. JCP has average length and the other top two C prospects have below average length. Who recalls the arm length on Poles line targets? IIRC, we brought Wright in for a visit correct. Did we draft anybody that we didn't visit?

I don't really see a logical thread for tracking Williams progress. I'm was actually shocked as I read this. They certainly don't appear to be holding anything back with Williams. He's going to experience it all and that means they think he can handle it and they want him ready for anything in game 1. I figured first day in practice it's going to be kid gloves type of stuff like we've always seen before. If you all were watching MNF tonight, I guess the league is announcing that they are going to make a new rule effective immedietly that you will be suspended for a "Devastating" hit or a "Blow to the head." There having a big debate about it now on ESPN. This is a joke, a flat out joke. You can't legislate hitting in football. Now everything that these guys have been taught about hitting they can no longer do. Over my many years of watching Bears football I have had some real highs and a whole lotta lows but when it comes to me spiking the Bears cap on the ground or chucking it at the tube one player made me sicker than anyone when I watched his constant miscues. That was Lew Barnes who was a WR/returner on I think the 87 Bears team. He was an adventure each return and you didn't know if he would cleanly field the punt,take it to the house or fumble it after running 30 yards with it.That year I think the Bears were 12-4 and hosted the Skins at Soldier's Field in the playoffs.The Bears had two critical fumbles in the game one by Payton and the other from Barnes late in the game …

Url, what the hell are you doing calling out Sayers? Yes, the team went 1-13, but that wasn't Sayers' fault. When you become a Hall of Famer then you can take some pot shots. I hate Mariani more than any Bear player I can remember in a while. He drops punts. When he catches them he has the vision of Ray Charles on returns. And on kickoffs, despite the team not getting any sort of blocking, he returns them when he catches the ball 8-9 yards deep in the end zone. He did it twice now in this Minnesota game. It's time for the Bears to go a different direction. This dude is slow, has iffy hands, has bad vision, makes poor decisions, and did I mention he's slow? Please replace this turd pronto.
