And it never stops! They're always your kid, whether they're 2 or 50 years old. But hey, I really couldn't live without the nuckleheads I got!
-
There are demonstrations here at the U I work in at least four times a year, all with tear gas. It is no picnic, as others have alluded to here. And I eat all the hot peppers I can lay my hands on and if, by mistake, I rub my eyes, wo, it stings like hell. So I'd expect Ced to look like that and to shed a few tears. Now, was he a bronken down, blubbering wimp crying form mom? I really doubt it, but I'd like to hear from someone else who was on that boat. Not that it makes much difference in the overal scope of things, though.
-
Yeah, that's the surprising part. I don't think anyone that really follwed last years mess on D felt that Adam should or would be sticking around. Hope the new kid can contribute.

Just read this on MSNBC.com: When Cedric Benson was being arrested over the weekend, he apparently responded to the face full of pepper spray by crying, and calling out for his mother. That’s probably not the ideal makeup for a running back in the NFL. The weepy-eyed mugshot can be viewed here. (Chicago Sun-Times)> Now, I'm not really a Benson lover/hater. I want the guy who wears our uni to perform on the field. But it seems to me that, if you got sprayed with pepper spray, who wouldn't cry? And the reports said his mom was on the boat, so why not call for her? I read this and I have to say PLLLEEEEEZE!

Good points Nfo and AZBF. AP is now the undisputed leader on STs. And while he was able to break off some nice gains, he did that, for the most part, in 3rd down situations when teams were thinking pass first and pulling back. I too do not think that he should be considered our nº 1 back. He is valuable, but for other reasons. Let's see what we can do with the trio of CB, Forte and Wolfe.
-
Says he has speed and can contribute on STs. That seems to fit Lovie's profile. And I forgot about Pope still being there for TC.
-
I really doubt it. Lovie has shown a penchant for declaring starters, most often vets, and Benson will be that Vet. Now if there is more crap to come out of the boating incident, I can easily see Forte moving up at TC.
-
Spot on DB. JA and Lovie knew they had Rex and Orton lined up to, hopeflly, win the job and there was no one that they felt warranted a picking over another position when their pick came around. They ust have earmarked the two UDFA that they signed all along.
-
Can't see them cutting him at this point. What player gets cut for a DUI and acting stupid while at it' But it's just one more nail in his coffin. Have to see how this all plays out.
-
Looks good, Prophet. Always nice to have another site to run down Da Bears info!
-
IMdO, the way the OL guys went off the board, we would have had crap to chose from if we'd traded down. And how many of us here would be screaming, with me, that we didn't add a top OT choice?
-
Well said jackie!
-
And I bet someone read Lovie's praise of Forte to Benson. I say read to him because I have my doubts about his skills in that area, as well as his skills with the ball!
-
But if we cut him lose, we still pay for it. They're going to let him earn his money this season and hopefylly the guy does it. If we cut him, the money is still tied up, so what can we do? Potential is a nasty word, but it's what we're hoping for with the bum!

51 is one of my all time favorites, along with Sayers. I like the fact that he brought the administration of the award to Chicago. To repeat: Good for him!
-
We can hem and haw all we want to, but the bottom line is that Rex IS getting another shot. He's got a one year deal and he need to take advantage of it. I'm pulling for him, but I also agree with ConnerBear that any QB will do for me as long as we win.
-
Clearly, this is Benson's year to either become the no. 1 RB or say goodbye at the end of the season. Maybe he can't recover from the season-ending injury. I just don't know. And yes, I expect the OL to be better--hell, could it be any worse? That alone should help improve the running game. So it's all up to Ced now.
-
Gonna keep my eyes on 12 & 17--who shows up for the third QB job. And, of course, 22. Man, I want Forte to show us something!
-
The Czar over on Fox Sports also gives us an A for the draft, saying we picked up QBs as UDFAs that will be just as good as what we could have drafted.
-
Liked your take on the QB situation Ashkum. I just believe there was no QB available that said take me and no one else when the Bears got on the clock each time. And indeed, bringing in a Breenan, Woodson or even Brohm in the second would mean forgoing a player they wanted and then putting pressure on the two QBs we have with someone that is no improvement. And your take on the WR situation makes me feel that we've got all these bodies--experience and some new blood as well--that we should be able to get four solid guys out of this group. And I think that Forte will make Benson a very expensive sub this year and a burger flipper in 2009 if he doesn't get his head screwed on. Outstanding write up!
-
Yeah, I remember that debate. I was in favor of Pope. Olsen, though, looks like the real deal, as little as we've seen of him. And I do beleive that a bit of competition at every position only serves to bring out the best in the players. Now, can the new draftee block?
-
Damn sick, again!
-
Of course, only time will tell, but I think they made the right choice. The two QBs we signed as UDFA apear to be as capable as Booty, IMdO.
-
I'm surprised that they took so many players with injury issues. But if they pan out, it looks great. Steltz could lead to Manning , Jr. being relelased. And I agree on the QB AZBearsfan. Probably after JA got Forte he just saw noone at that position that he felt was worth passing up the guys he did take. Boy, I just wonder what aged FA QB is going to be available after all the final cuts in Aug or Sept.

Thaks for the summary Prophet. Now for the UDFAs.
