I just read this blurb on PFW (which isn't to be confused with PFFFFFFFFT): We hear second year Bears WR Earl Bennett, a third round disappointment who admitted that he struggled last season to learn the Bears' playbook, looked a lot more sure of himself running routes at the Bears' first minicamp this offseason. Heading into the draft, Bennett appears to have a tenuous hold on the No. 2 WR spot behind Devin Hester and ahead of Rashied Davis. What do you want to bet that with the addition of Cutler, Bennett becomes not only a lock for the #2, but a breakout performer this year?

Frank Omiyale with first team at left guard By Vaughn McClure As the Bears get deeper into team drills, the first team offensive line has Frank Omiyale at left guard alongside left tackle Orlando Pace. Josh Beekman, last year's starter at left tackle, is working behind Olin Kreutz at center

  8. An interesting article. I did not realize he was a former agent for NFL players. I hope we never let this guy escape to another team. He is kick butt in his job. ESPN.com Article about Cliff Stein

  9. From Kevin Seifert's NFC North blog: "For the purposes of this feature, however, we need to separate [Jay Cutler and Aaron Rodgers]. Beyond a team's final record, how can you judge whether a quarterback is a "winner?" One way is to analyze his performance in the fourth quarter, when many NFL games are decided. By this measure, at least, Cutler came out ahead in a 2008 comparison. Cutler ranked seventh among regular NFL starters last season with a 94.2 passer rating in the fourth quarter, according to STATS Inc. Rodgers ranked No. 13 at 87.8. For context, take a look at the sampling of fourth-quarter ratings below: Sampling of Fourth-quarter QB Performance…

Cutler may have had opening night gitters but I think he the coaching staff failed to prepare him for the 3/4 defense. He looked bewildered. Lovie's two challenges were ridiculous. The fake punt was a player mistake but this is a vet of what, 15 years? They put that quick snap in there but apparently they never coached him on when not to use it. The Packers 12 man was on the sideline for a few seconds before that snap. Halftime adjustments were just fine. With Urlacher out I expected to lose by 21. We were winning until a minute left. But why in the world aren't we READY for the team we play in game one this year? We were ready for the Colts last sea…

All bad news must come to an end and it finally did as of about 5 minutes ago. My wife and I just found out today that she is pregnant with our 2nd child. The doctors believe its fairly early within the past couple of weeks(still celebrating the fact that we got Cutler I believe) We will be going in in a couple of weeks to have an ultrasound done.

After finally being able to sleep thru the night this week, I have come to a conclusion that we are in for a total ass raping this week. It more than likely wont be on the scoreboard because the Steelers just dont put up points like that, but if we looked that bad against a team running a defense for the 1st time, Pitt should make it worse. Just a few remarks Losing Clark is really going to hurt in my opinion as well, Davis appears to be just about useless in the passing game. If they shut down the run, It may yet be another pick-a-palooza and this time the crowd may riot. The Oline looked miserable on the inside. Omiyale is a total wash, maybe th…

  15. Man, all I gotta say is that Lovie and his staff need to re-examine how they evaluate the talent they have in camp. A lot of us here recognized that FB Lusaka Polite was a hammer and yet we let him go despite him busting people up in preseason a few years ago. Last night, that guy was a beast. To me, it's nice to have the RBs that Miami does, but this guy Polite is a difference maker. He was leading the way on just about every run and screen, picked up countless blitzes, and when they needed a yard, this guy would get into his block and get + movement every time. We haven't had that here in ages...unless you wanna count the time that he was in our camp. …

Another week gone by and another wasted opportunity to fire Harry. The Oline was horrible to start the game. The Browns were clearly mixing up the pass rush but still we need better from this group. Some running lanes were opened later in the game but pass protection was rarely seen. RB: I'm getting tired of Forte dancing around at the LOS. On at least one play late in the game Forte completely blew his pass protection assignment and got Cutler leveled. On one of his goal line runs he stayed up high and got stopped for no gain when he could have lowered his pads and gained at least 1/2 yard or more. Isn't this fundamental RB stuff? Just how bad does Fort…

  20. Anyone else tired of Chalk Talk? I know it should be obvious that he works for the Bears etc, but he is Lovie-like in his political non-speak drivel week after week....the latest example: " know that there have been numerous theories on why the Bears are struggling offensively, but would you agree that inconsistency along the offensive line may be the culprit as it all starts with the guys up front? Chris Highland, New York The offensive line certainly hasn’t performed up to expectations, but I don’t see how you can single out five players when there are 11 on the field. Every player and coach on the Bears offense must share the blame for a unit that has…
