Bearstalk

Are you a diehard Chicago Bears fan? If so, you've found the spot to discuss all things Chicago Bears. Discuss the Monster of the Midway right here as the Bears look to get back on track in 2024 and take the North and never give it back! Flaming is not allowed and all such posts will be deleted. Try to keep it clean and most importantly BEAR DOWN! #BEARS #CHICAGOBEARS #BEARDOWN

With Orton taking over at Quarterback it is obvious that the Bears (while not mathematically eliminated) are looking towards next season. The question is should the Bears start to take a similar route with the offensive line? Terrance Metcalf has shown that he clearly isn't capable of being a good offensive lineman. He is a valuable backup and I'd imagine based on his minimal cap figure we will see him back next year (in a backup role) but my question is should the Bears go out and give Beekman a chance (I think he was drafted out of ISU this past year). My immediate thought is yes, however, it should only be if he is ready because if Beekman is clearly worse th…

Might as well put them all in one place. Try to keep it to signings, not "I would like to see the Bears get this guy."

A copy and paste from another thread. I want to start a discussion on Garrett Wolfe. I think that Wolfe can be a solid contributor, and much more than a third-down back. Honestly, I don't see why everyone is so ready to quit on a guy who did nothing but look better than Benson and Peterson during his limited touches last year. I don't see why he can't produce like Warrick Dunn has produced throughout his career. If anything, having a smaller, shiftier RB is a better option behind a line that opens up massive holes for DTs and DEs. Every time he got in the game last year he was making someone miss...that is, of course, when Turner wasn't calling the FB dive…

    1) He is going to get shit for throwing 4 INTs, when 3 of them werent his fault. 2) This O-Line is going to get him killed.

Looking at CNNSI's mock draft, by Don Banks Just for the record, he has us drafting OT Eban Britton, and provides the following comments, John Tait's retirement puts the Bears in the market for another offensive tackle, and while the higher-rated Michael Oher remains on the board, the word is he started taking on water at the combine and will continue to sink as the scouting process continues. Teams just don't have as much patience for draft prospects with character issues as they did in the pre-Roger Goodell days. He also previously stated, Teams aren't as willing as they once were to look the other way for a player who has either character or medic…

  9. Started by Uncle Buck,

Hub Arkush was on the Boers and Bernstein show this evening and stated that he had confirmation that someone above Jerry Angelo's position in the organization has started to inquiry into the posibilities of bringing in a new coach. This due diligence has been performed on John Gruden, Shanahan, and Cowher. This executive was looking into the parameters of the size and requirements of a compensation package should the Bears head down the path of replacing Lovie and perhaps Angelo (depending upon the amount of power needed by the new coach). Hub made it seem that if the season continues of its current trajectory, a new regime could be a possibility. He also felt that the Be…

  10. The Bears head to Cleveland to face Joe Flacco. The line is only +3, so Vegas considers this an even game. People are talking about the Browns defense, but I'm confused. They just allowed 27, 36, and 29 in the last 3 games. Before this last game where they scored 31, they hadn't broken 20 in the 3 previous games. So their offense doesn't look that good. In their last game, Lawrence threw 3 INTs and the Jags had 4 turnovers but Cleveland has 3 of their own. So it was a sloppy game. If the same Bears team shows up, I am going Bears 23-13 in a low scoring affair where the Bears score late to put it out of reach. On offense, they need to double Garr…

Hi everyone! Last year's Talkbears mock draft was enjoyable enough for me that I figured WTH, I'll do it again. I'm open to formatting suggestions, but here's a basic outline. Each participant picks a team, or multiple teams if you'd like. From the moment we start, you're the GM. You want to trade picks, you want to bring Cutler to the Bears, whatever you want to do, do it. (2009 picks traded in the 2008 Talkbears Mock Draft do not count ). My goal is to start the draft process on Monday, March 30th, give or take. This gives us a little more time before the draft than we had last year, so we can push it longer if we want, and we won't be in a rush to get…

Obviously Olsen didn't help but this is on RON TURNER. Fire his ass now.

  17. Hopefully Turner was watching how to use a receiver to exploit a DEF and how to take pressure off a QB. Credit the Giants D for not giving up because how frustrating must it have been to get pressure on TB only to see him dump it off to Faulk and Welker converting 3rd & long all day. I also hope Hester was watching how Welker at his size runs tight precision routes and was able to protect himself from taking big hits by getting down when there is nothing left to a play. Just imagine if Hester with all his talent was able to be utilized like Welker?

  19. From the Sun-Times: Cutler passes on chance to lobby for Plaxico Burress, Brandon Marshall Jay Cutler is ready to roll with the wide receivers he has on the roster right now. Really, what else could the Bears' new quarterback say Wednesday afternoon when the team completed its offseason program. Players will show up Thursday, but the final day is usually reserved for a bowling outing. There will not be any more work on the field. "I'm 100 percent comfortable [with the wide receivers],'' Cutler said. "I think we added some depth with some younger guys and then some of the older veterans are stepping up and playing well. So I think we've got more than en…

Are the Bears who we thought they were? We should have a pretty good indication on what type of team we are after Sunday. If we win, then we are definitely pointing in the right direction; if we lose, we are almost destined for an 0-3 start and will have a tough hole to get out of. Week 1 Top PFF Performers: ILB Shea McClellin (+2.5) LT Jermon Bushrod (+2.3) WR Alshon Jeffery (+2.1) TE Martellus Bennett (+1.9) FS Adrian Amos (+0.9)
