It's time to start some predictions about who steps up this year to contribute more than expected heading into training camp. Last years' defensive surprise had to be McBride who ended up getting a lot of playing time last year and did well in coverage. He was talked about quite a bit in camp. If there was an offensive surprise last year although Olson made a lot of highlight catches in camp. As a first round pick that was kinda expected. This year my picks will be: Defense/special teams - Corey Graham. Actually I'm looking forward to a night of football, starting with the Packers Vs. Seahawks at 7 PM and then switching to the beloved. Not sure the girlfriend is going to be as happy with that plan as I am. This weekend's game is said to be the most telling. We should see at least a minimal game plan and a half of football from our starters, possibly more. I want to see Jay distribute the ball. The offense be more diverse in general with Forte getting some good work. The D to continue to hustle to the ball, get turnovers. McFadden is a good back when healthy. The Sun Times and Tribune both had articles in today's paper talking about our secondary. Three things that were news: 1. Peanut Tillman is staying at cornerback (Not exactly breaking news, but it stops the rumors of him going to fs) 2. Danieal Manning is staying at nickel-back, not free safety (this is different then what Smith had said before) 3. Craig Steltz is penciled in as the starter at free safety with Payne at SS. First, this tells me our cornerback position is pretty damn strong. D Manning looked really good at nickel-back. We're hoping Vasher can return to form, and he'll be battling with Corey Graham who was pretty damn good last year. T…

The Bills are 1-4 and by all means already out of it. That being said I could see Buffalo trading T.O. for a 3rd or 4th round pick mid season. I know bagging on him became popular, but I thought this was a very good read. I also will caveat it by saying I always was a fan of Lovie so I am inherently biased but I felt that he was the time of guy you could be proud your organization had and there is something to be said about that and how he handled the lockeroom, etc. We sorely miss that sort of leadership qualities from the top. I recently saw this article and became slightly irritated: "Expert" rankings I just don't see it. I read an article on Sports Mockery with the suggestion that next year we could let go of Fuller. The opinion was based on his cap hit and the fact that if they do not have fans in the stands this year the cap number will go down by 12 mil instead of going up. We would save 11 mil against the cap if we would let him go next year. So if we have to cut some of our star players, who would go first? In talking w/ a friend, more and more, I am beginning to think our 2nd round pick will be all about WR, and rounds 3 through 6 will pretty much go defense. Others might argue our need for a FS is just as great. Some argue DL is a favorite position for Angelo, and he may want to offer Marinelli (and Lovie) some more talent. But I really am beginning to think we will draft the best available WR in round 2. We all know WR is a need, but reasons I think we will go WR beyond that.
