Gaines update The tight end has a Monday morning flight to Chicago to meet with the Bears' staff May 8, 2009, 12:33 AM By: Jeff Dickerson Updating our previous entry, both the Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune now report that Michael Gaines will indeed visit the Bears on Monday. Vaughn McClure of the Tribune notes that Gaines has a 6 a.m. flight out of Detroit, and that the tight end is leaning toward the Bears over the Jets. Gaines tells McClure that he was initially caught off guard when first contacted by Lovie Smith last Thursday. "I'm not going to lie, I was kind of shocked because of who I am,'' Gaines told the Tribune. "I'm a blocking…

That is the question. I have gone back and forth. On one hand, I do not want to tie up a ton of money into a player who I question will ever be a #1. On the other hand, can we really afford to lose him? So some talk about the tag, as have I at times, and I just got to thinking about the numbers. What sort of deal do we expect Berrian to seek? He turned down, I think, something in the $20m range w/ $8m guaranteed, which is about what we offered Randle El a couple years ago. So what is he looking at. Last year, I don't think there were any deals for WRs that Berrian would use. Stallworth signed basically a one year gimick deal. Moss, Welker and the rest …

OK, by my math, we're about 24 hours from the Bears pick - so who will it be? I saw either Kevin White or Danny Shelton and will ultimately guess Shelton, because I think White will be gone. The Bears would love to trade down just a couple spots, but no farther than the Browns at #12 (Rams would be ideal) and get an extra pick. If the Browns trade up to #2, maybe the Bears would be OK trading back farther, but I think the Browns would take Shelton if the Bears didn't. As it stands, the Rams only have six picks and probably don't want to lose more and after that is the Vikings, and I doubt the Bears want to help them go up and get someone they like. Ratliff is the…

  12. Puka on IR, Kupp going to be limited at best if he doesn't miss the game. Rams playing in the late slot on Sunday, then having to travel from LA to CHI. So Bears are going to have a rest edge. Rams are one of the worst teams in the NFL, especially with the injuries. The Bears lost against the Colts, but the Colts didn't win the game. At 1-2, this becomes an early must win as falling to 1-3 starts makes a huge hole to dig out of so early in the season. I feel like the Bears will rebound and play much better with home cooking. Bears 27-13.

Sign his ass now! Roy Williams and Johnny Knox are not the answer at #1. Moss will atleast go up and get it when he's in the game and make adjustments on balls that Roy Williams doesn't. I'm sick of this receiving core, we have to do something.

  15. I know this is slightly off topic but since we are approaching the date where they release the individual home game tickets. I've tried unsuccessfully the past few years. What seems to be happening is the brokers or individuals buy ups large chunks of tickes with no intention of going to the game but with the intent to make a killing selling the tickets on various sites where the prices end up being highly inflated. I was wondering if anyone has a method that works. I've tried the whole Ticketmaster thing and by the time the page loaded I would the tickets would be gone. I do have something in my favor that I didn't have before and that's high speed internet, I'm…

With me being a negative guy when it comes to sports, let me ask this. Who is your most hated Bears player of all time? I was always under the assumption that no person could make me more pissed off at life than RW McQuartes, but since he wasnt totally horrible in coverage, I have to say Danneal Manning. Who is your most loved Bears player of all time? Without even thinking twice, Neal Anderson.

  20. Battle of the Winless So here we go, after another loss, the Bears continue to grasp for answers. It feels like groundhog day as the team hasn't won in 12 months now. Both teams will consider the other as their get-right game. Whichever team loses, there season will be over because there won't be an easier team on their schedule than this the entire year. So whoever loses has a better shot at 0-17 than going 9-8. The Broncos are 0-3, have allowed 122 pts and have a pts differential of -53. The Bears say, "hold my beer", they are also 0-3, have allowed 106 pts, and have a pts differential of -59. The teams are 31st and 32nd on defense, offensively, t…
