As I'm a bit bored speculating on the draft at the moment, I thought it might be fun to start a thread...and eventually get a consesnus on an All time Bears Roster. If you would so indulge me, I think only listing the starters at the below positions would be necessary. I'd love to get the player's name and why you feel he's the one. Feel free to list one's that were honerable mentions, but you can only vote for one per se... I figure I can set up a poll for any that aren't clear cut winners. Here's the listing O-D-ST. It is amazing how the media is handling MHJ literally skipping all public workouts but when Williams skipped working out at the combine, it was the biggest news for weeks. I bet this will be a growing trend and the norm in years to come. The top guy in each position group has more to lose than to gain by doing any of these workouts, and possibly get injured.

Last year at this time I was giving JA all the praise in the world, and I still believe the 2006 draft was what you expect & hope for from you general managerevery year. The top 5 players (Danieal Manning, Devin Hester, Dusty Dvoracek, Jamar Williams, Mark Anderson) if healthy could all be starting, and you have a bon-a-fide superstar in the mix in Hester. As great as 2006 was, 2007 was awful. It's seriously made me wonder what the hell JA was thinking: #1 TE Greg Olsen--Helluva a player, but Matt Millen could have even made this pick. Angelo lucked out in what was arguably our greatest need, fell this far due to the fact so many teams drafted TE's the year …

Now, I understand every QB has a bad game here and there, and I've been Cutler's BIGGEST supporter. At some point, however, when will he be considered a bust? Even when he had a great OL in Denver and made the Pro Bowl, he threw only 7 more TD's than INT's and made the PB because of an injury. The last 2 seasons, he's started out 3-1 and 3-0, and it's been downhill from there. How long do they give him? So when do you start or at least try out Clausen? Considering that Cutler doesn't appear to be a system QB perhaps Clausen would be a little better? I don't recall feeling as warm and fuzzy from his preseason play as I did with McCowns last year. But didn't Trestman work out Clausen when he was in college? Part of the reason he wanted him in Chicago? Must be something he sees / saw in him. If for nothing else having Cutler sit and stew on the sideline for a bit might do him good. Just sayin. Discuss.

Detroit coming back home after a last second win against the Chargers. Detroit has beat up on losing teams, and the Bears are a losing team. Outside of Fields coming back and playing lights out and the defense playing as good as they did against the Panthers, this one looks like it will be an ugly loss. 34-16.

Lovie is back in town with Josh at the helm. One team is going to leave with a 2-game winning streak (and worse draft pick). Both teams are 2-5 in their last 7 games, so this is going to be a closer game than most believe. TB is better on the road 2-3 than we are at home 1-3. The Bears should have traded Hester when they had the chance. Earlier this season when Hester was holding out for money I (and I think a few others) said that he is not going to be worth anymore than he was then. I said he was one injury away from losing his step and was only going to get slower regardless. That and all the other teams are figureing out how to stop him. First he tried to make something out of nothing (see the Colts game and a tackle on the 3) then this injury. A "soft tissue" injury to the ribs that could keep him out for up to two weeks? Any info? I read some post from another forum that the score reported today that benson's injury is worse than everyone thought and that his career with the bears is over and it will be announced publically in a few days? Is this true? If it is, do they bring in some vet with experience. I think forte will be a good back, but we can't possibly try going into the season with no experience at all can we? I'd make a trade like a 6th rd pick in next years draft for lamont jordan, or try for alexander if he's affordable.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty good draft, looking at the individual players we got. At the same time, I can not help but feel this draft will go down as the draft that could have been. I feel we missed the bus on some players, and while there are later picks I like individually, I question the selections due to who we passed on. 1st - I like Williams. I like him a lot. At the same time, I can not help but feel Albert will be a far better player. Williams may indeed be the better, immediate, prospect, but down the road, I think we look back and wonder why we didn't take Albert 2nd - Forte - I like Forte. I think most do as well.
