These two players have been released by the Browns. Whitner has a history with Fangio and is just turning 31 this summer. If we cut Rolle there is no dead money on the cap. He is 3 years younger and was successful under Fangio. I would go for that change in our DB field. Also Ekpre-Olomu is released coming off a major injury. He has youth and upside on the side of signing him. I am all in on that signing also.

Less than a month away for Christmas amongst die hard NFL fans. Here is my April fools make a wish draft 1-11 trade to NY Jets for Muhammad Wilkerson and pick 1-20. The contract will not be easy to build with the Jets cannot keep him. 1-20 William Jackson III CB -Fox wanted to add speed, Jackson has length, speed, and is a top 2-3 CB 2-41 Jaylon Smith LB- I am predicting a good re-check and news he should make a full recovery. 3-71 Sean Davis S - Davis is under the radar, but look at his measurables and game tape. He will be good. 4-106 Pharoh Cooper WR- Eddie Royal was expected to be a clutch slot, he barely seen the field. PC adds insurance & KR 4-1…

After the Jaylon Smith news came out, I've seen varying reports about how far he'll drop. This has made me think about whether or not he'd be worth a risk, and at which point. In another thread this was briefly discussed. 1. Do you think he'll fully recover from the injury and become an pro-bowl caliber player? 1a. YES - In which round would you be willing to draft him? 1b. NO - Would you be willing to draft him? In which round? Very difficult question for the Bears, a team in the middle ground of the league. I think if the Bears were in the cellar or at the top it would be an easier question to answer. If at the bottom, sure, why not? He's a first rou…

Here is a link from Windy City Gridiron, a lot of interesting trades to land more picks. I like it, dont like the QB pick, should have went for one of the good prospects in the spot they picked Martin.(before OL signings.) http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2016/3/31...ition-3-31-2016

Tongue a little in cheek. Seems like a lot of people are really high on this signing and I'm not sure why, but 1 year deal for him. Sounds like mainly a special teamer and decent kick return man, but you don't want him starting on defense under any circumstances. I guess he and Deonte can battle it out over return man duties.

Bears have officially agreed to terms on a one-year deal with OL Ted Larsen. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/03/31/bea...to-1-year-deal/ *edit* line depth for the guard position and possibly competition for Grassu at center?

(Sadly not THAT Manny Ramirez) Better backup option than Ducasse, IMO, and can backup Grasu at C. Yet another former Bronco under Fox. One year deal.

I was doing a mock draft and somehow Jalen Ramsey fell to the Bears at 11. Is that reasonable at all? Looking at the draft, I see the following teams ahead of us with a potential CB need: DAL - Former 1st rounder Morris Claiborne, Orlando Scandrick coming back. BAL - They need CB, but their OL was a mess last year and Flacco was hurt as a result PHI - They need CB, but Elliott makes a lot of sense for them, and they moved up for a reason TB - CB is a need, but they signed Robinson and Grimes. WR makes sense since VJax is older, due big $, and injury prone. The draft could conceivably play out like this: 1.TEN-Tunsil 2.CLE-Wentz 3.SD-Bosa 4…

Obviously there's no way to know exactly how much say Fangio had in the drafts when he was in SF, but he had to have some say, right? So I figured I'd take a look at the defensive players they drafted. One big difference in looking at this is the fact that SF was already running a 3-4 when he got there and they already had Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman and Justin Smith (to name just a few). 2011 1 - Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri - 6'4" 263, 4.78 3 - Chris Culliver, CB, South Carolina - 6'1" 201. 4.40 6 - Colin Jones, S, TCU - 5'11" 200, 4.34 7 - Curtis Holcomb, CB, Florida A&M - 5'10" 184, 4.47 2012 5 - Darius Fleming, LB, Notre Dame - 6'2" 245,…

I'm curious who teams are talking to and at NFL.com they show us having spoken with 10 players (I'm sure it's much higher than that) but on that list 5 are WRs. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000064...ayers-nfl-teams Then what traits are we looking at? Most are bigger WRs with the exception being Coleman. Devon Cajuste stood out to me because at 6'4" and 235lbs he's pretty close to what Zach Miller does for us. Reportedly Cajuste does not have the quickness needed off the line to get separation from CBs, but he has good enough speed against LBs. He'll need time to gain strength and learn blocking but he has the hands you want. He originally went to S…

One year deal. Decent depth and special teamer and seemed like a good locker room guy, by all accounts.

Trade #11 & #206 to Bills for #19, #80 (3rd), #117 (4th), and a 3rd next year. Bills, who got two comp picks, move up to draft Shaq Lawson and fill a desperate need for a pass-rushing DE. I don’t love the value for the Bears at #11. I don’t think Stanley or Buckner falls. I want a CB, but Hargreaves and Alexander don’t fit the Fangio DB model. Robinson makes sense, but in a deep DL draft you can get similar value in the 2nd, I think, and the other good pass-rushers seem more like 4-3 DEs. I’m warming to the idea of Elliott, but I think he goes before this. I’d consider QB, but I’m personally not enamored with this class at the top. So I trade down and get some…

Here is a thought I will throw out there, what if we offered Jacksonville a 4th or 5th round pick for Luke Joeckel/LT They signed Kelvin Beachum to a 5 year 45 mil deal. Luke is an athletic player but has lacked in strength. I doubt Jack will have two expensive LTs on the roster. I suggest a trade, preferable 5th rounder but we have 2 4th rounders. Is is worth the chance to give him a new team and motivate him? He did not have a good year but was rated higher than Leno. Is it worth a 4th round pick to get a potential LT

This is from the WTF department: 3/25: Laquon Treadwell said that the Bengals, Browns, Bears and Cowboys have shown the most interest in him. - Read more at http://www.walterfootball.com/nflrumors/te...J3yVQJggMKyL.99 The only thing I can think is that the Bears are keeping open the option to trade Jeffrey. For this to work they'd have to get a high 1st Rd pick. Can also be a little strategy toward getting Jeffrey to sign the deal on the table. Anyone else got any ideas on why we'd waste time on this smoke screen?

1 year deal. Presumably less than what we would have had to tender him (which I believe was 1.7M).

It's that time of year again, looking to start up our Community Mock Draft by getting the various teams assigned to our in house GM's. If you are interested, please let me know which teams you would like to draft for, and I will go until we get thru all 32. If we can get the teams locked in over the next week, I would like to start the draft next weekend to give each pick enough time to do some research, etc.
