http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescription/...ck/Default.aspx --------------------------------------- John Mullin of CSNChicago.com reports Bears running back Matt Forte is turning 2011 into a statement season, accounting for more than half of the team's combined offensive production thus far. But the Bears have not yet locked him up to an extension. "Obviously someone doesn't believe I'm an elite running back," Forte said. Forte stands just 17th in rushing after two weeks, with 117 total yards and an average of 4.5 yards per carry but he is No. 2 in the NFL with 324 yards, second only to Carolina’s Steve Smith’s 334 yards. And that should matter as far as F…

Gase has been a busy man. So far it looks like he has had/or will have interviews with the Giants, Browns, Dolphins, and Eagles. The Eagles interview tomorrow will be his 2nd with them. Can't imagine he returns.

I am watching the game again (man I love DVR) and a few things. - McGowan and Briggs are really standing out is poor angles and tackling. I want to write it off as 1st preseason game, but as this was such an issue last year, and something we were supposedly working so hard on in camp, it does concern me. One area McGowan is looking good. He is making a few really good plays in the backfield. So when he is going downhill, he is looking good. If he is not attacking the LOS though, he simply seems late and is taking bad angles. - Cut back running is killing us. I believe this is a problem of old for us. We are aggressive up front, and collapse the ar…

I hate Mariani more than any Bear player I can remember in a while. He drops punts. When he catches them he has the vision of Ray Charles on returns. And on kickoffs, despite the team not getting any sort of blocking, he returns them when he catches the ball 8-9 yards deep in the end zone. He did it twice now in this Minnesota game. It's time for the Bears to go a different direction. This dude is slow, has iffy hands, has bad vision, makes poor decisions, and did I mention he's slow? Please replace this turd pronto.

We have some really good board members we haven't seen in awhile. Anyone know what's up with any of them? Are they on other boards, etc...?

I have to believe we made this deal w/ the intention of keeping him long term, which means a new deal. While he is not due to hit FA for two more years, you gotta bet he wants to be paid. Now we can utilize that huge amount of cap space. It will be very curious to see just how big of a deal he gets, and further will be interesting to see the "bears are cheap" response when we give him a deal for likely $30m guaranteed.

http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/N.../wwhi112008.htm “He’s gotten really soft, leaving big cushions and whiffing on most of his tackles,” one team insider said of Vasher. “He at least used to throw his body around and provide some run support. Worse than that, he’s no longer making any plays to speak of (with only one interception).” Another declining defender who was particularly exposed against the Packers is NT Dusty Dvoracek, who we hear could be losing more than a little playing time to Anthony Adams, who many close to the team believe should be on the field a lot more after being inactive is seven of the 10 games this season. Said one daily te…

Just scanning the web tonight catching on the rumor mill from the last week. Things I've seen of note from either Aaron Leming, Walterfootball, NFL.com, CBSSports, or just my own thoughts.... https://twitter.com/AaronLemingNFL?ref_src=...7Ctwgr%5Eauthor 1) Aaron Leming says Bears have strong interest in Ezekiel Elliot and he might be the pick unless a top 5 player falls. I like Elliot a lot but RB is not my first preference at #11. I have to say the tandem of Elliot and Langford both with power, speed, and quickness, would make life tough for defenses especially with the Oline players we picked up in FA. Elliot is outstanding on blitz pickup so he's the idea…

Go Bears? I hate these kind of seasons, I don't see us doing anything realistic but also hate to see us lose. We have winnable games the next two weeks, and could go into GB at 3-3. The injury report is hilarious (in a bad way): http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/chi/injuries I think we need some better/new strength and conditioning coaches and need to change our offseason regime. Too many injuries year in and year out to be chance. I would like to see Howard continue to play well and some of the other young players step up and make plays with the opportunities they have. My guess is if Hoyer plays well and we win, that he will continue to be the starti…

Winner gets worse draft pick and 3rd place bragging rights, loser takes the NFC North cellar and almost locks in a top 10 pick. I am torn, I really want a win and for us to go on a 7 game run and totally redeem ourselves, but the other half says this season is toast and the only way to get change is to tank even further. If we lose to Minny at home with AP, we need to fire someone within an hour of the game ending.

I can't help my disgust for how this team has treated Mike Hass. He can easily be this teams Wes Welker. Welker has gone through the exact same crap Hass is going through just to get his shot. These guys both have the talent and for some reason from college to the pros they were passed over. Welker finally has the stage to open up eyes and he has done so. Although he still has to fight for the credit. Mike Hass can be that same player. He is exactly the kind of receiver this team needs...Will he ever get his chance?? This is a pretty good read on Welker...

I've been watching the videos of Mendenhall on Youtube. Things I like. Good body control and balance. Uses blockers well Has the ability to run it inside and push for yardage. Has good speed and agility in space anticipates well. Has a good attitude a team guy Has good hands as a receiver. He does run with the ball in one hand a lot. even up the middle, he needs to be more carefull about putting two hands on the ball in a crowd. NFL Defenders are more adept at stripping the ball than college defensive players. Some of the holes I saw in the videos you could drive a truck through. But on the clips where the holes were much smaller and he was r…

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7895722...away-from-Colts After some serious thought, I now have generally come to agree with the post season moves. This one though I would like to know how involved Angelo was with this if at all. if not , why not.

No change in coordinators in the offseason. Further, he said he sees Hester being a #1 receiver in the future. Peace

I was very surprised at how high guys like Tyler Smith and Cole Strange went. There always an ebb and flow to draft trends and IOL are moving upwards lately. I still like IOL. Raimann, Rhyan, and at OT I have no clue where Petit-Frere fits because his ranking is anywhere from 2nd to 5th Rd but he still seems like a reasonable option somewhere. WR: Watson, Pierce, Pickens (character questions might not fit Bears and those issues likely push Pierce's value higher). Other options: DT Winfrey S Jalen Pitre. (love his game and having him and Roquan on the field gives us a lot of flexibility in coverages and blitz packages) CB: Booth Jr. f…

If I was JA, this is how I would fix the team: Free agency: 1. Sign either Travelle Wharton or Jordan Gross, whomever Carolina lets go.-this is priority #1. You have to go all out for these guys. Either of them can play LT, so you can move Tait to RT. If that fails, go after Max Starks if Pittsburgh lets him go. If we don't sign a LT, then Otah or Clady has to be the #1 pick. 2. Re-sign Berrian if he comes at a decent price or sign Bryant Johnson. After Berrian we have no talent at WR. If Berrian leaves, what good will upgrading at QB do if nobody can catch the ball? A QB has to have weapons to be successful. 3. Sign G Ryan Lilja if he does not re-sign with In…

They talk about other positions like SS and TE/FB but this one applied to the Bears better. They did use AA as an example for SS but as you can imagine it wasnt saying he is a good fit for the new types of safeties. Sounds to me like theyre saying Singeltary and Butkus cant do what Urlacher can and would be situational players in this era (Dont blame me, I just post the articles)

I'm sick of his BS. He can't run the right routes... He can't return kicks... And now he can't even field a friggen punt! He's a guy who got the big check and started to play it safe. He's a pussy! I say bench his ass for a few games until he gets his head straight. I know we don't have anything else, really, at WR, but I'm sick of Hester's lack of production. He's got no heart.
