Most people are indicating we need to strengthen at tackle but we seem to have too much potentially inside at guard and centre and I wondered with the new oline coach who seems to be well respected could this be our depth chart for the oline in 2017. Left tackle: Kyle Long Charles Leno jnr Left guard: Josh Sinton draft pick 2017 to back up both guards and centre Centre: Hroniss Grasu ditto above Right guard: Eric Kush ditto above Right tackle: Cody Whitehair Bobby Massie (either becomes serviceable depth or wait until there is no cap hit releasing him I know this would possibly mess up building continuity at the position but we are paying Long left tackle…

The Bears went from Fields, Foreman, Mooney, St. Brown, Tonyan, Whitehair, and Patrick to Williams, Swift, Allen, Odunze, Everett, Bates, and Shelton in one offseason. It is hard to see this not being a top 12 offense. According to DVOA, the Bears had the 22nd best offense last year. 10 spots seems like a huge leap, but when you improve in every position group, 10 spots seems possible. If the team went 7-11 with 3 terrible losses, 10 wins seems like the floor as they should've had 10 last season. Playing the last place schedule, there are not many dominant teams on their schedule.

Was anyone else surprised by the consistency with which Martz had Cutler go back into deep drops the entire game? It seemed that a change should have been made considering the beating Cutler was taking and the frequency with which the Packers were blitzing, but it never really came like in the Cowboys game. I understand why the run game didn't get more love - especially considering the horrendous run blocking - but I don't get why there weren't more short passes in the flats, a screen or three, and a couple quick slants.

    If the Bears remove the negative players, this offense will get going. Swift is historically bad and replacing him with a tackling dummy would be a positive at this point. The below are promising trends, now Williams just needs to cut down on the INTs and they will be cooking: Williams Yards 93 > 174 > 363 Comp% 48.3% > 62.2% > 63.5% Y/A 3.2 > 4.7 > 7.0 TD 0 > 0 > 2 INT 0 > 2 > 2 Sacks 2 > 7 > 4 Odunze Yards 11 > 33 > 112 Rec 1 > 2 > 6 TD 0 > 0 > 1 Kmet Yards 4 > 27 > 97 Rec 1 > 4 > 10 TD 0 > 0 > 1

This is long but he goes over the various type of running plays the Packers ran and Getsy is almost certainly going to follow. It seems clear St Brown was brought here moreso as a run blocker than pass receiver. That's not necessarily bad as long as he can contribute some as a WR. You'll also get to see some of the limitations Lucas Patrick has but those should be less impactful at C. There is a similar video breakdown for the passing game I have yet to watch but will post here in this thread.

  6. Here is a listing of the QB, top 2 RB, top 3 WR, and top 2 TEs for the NFC North. The Bears don't have a top end guy like Jefferson, Aaron Jones, or Hockenson, but the Bears floor is higher than any other group. Arguably, Tonyan is the worst Bear in that group, but is better than any other TE2 on the list. Fields, Herbert, Foreman, Moore, Mooney, Claypool, Kmet, Tonyan Goff, Gibbs, Montgomery, St. Brown, Williams, Jones, LaPorta, Wright Love, Jones, Dillon, Watson, Doubs, Reed, Musgrave, Kraft Cousins, Mattison, Chandler, Jefferson, Addison, Osborn, Hockenson, Oliver If you break it down by position, Fields is probably #2 after Cousins if he doesn't impro…

A quarter of the season is already over. Lets take a look at the offensive and defensive statistics through the first 4 games of the season. I'll split the offense and defense into two threads so this post doesn't get too crazy long. First, we'll take a look at the offense as a whole, and then the QB play. *Please note that this discussion is about what you have seen through 4 games, what you like, what you don't like etc.. 2013 Bears (4 games) Total Offense (Yards/Game): 12th (352.2 yds/gm) PPG: 3rd (31.8 ppg) Yards per play: 12th (5.6) 1st downs per game: 21st (18.5) 3rd down percentage: 21st (35%) Penalties: 26th (which is good) (15) …

Offense: Total Yards: 10th PPG: 2nd Yards/Play: 5th 1st downs/Game: 12th 3rd down %: 21st Penalties: 3rd least penalized Sacks: 3rd (only 12 allowed) QB Hits: 10th (allowed 38 hits) ------------ Defense: Total Yards: 26th PPG: 29th Yards/Play: 31st 1st downs/game: 19th 3rd down%: 26th Sacks: 28th Takeaways: 4th Defensive TD's: 5th All I have to say is: Can you imagine this team if LAST YEAR's defense was playing for them with the offense they have now? A year too late it seems, which goes back to the day Phil Emery was hired. He came in under the condition that he had to keep Lovie for a year. I said it was stupid when …

Why is it when Cutler sucks, so much blame goes on the line. but when Forte has 100- 200 yards the line really gets no credit. Forte has had success with this line the last 3 years, is our line really that bad? Or,or, or could cutler be way overrated by many bear fans. The weakest or one of the supposably weakest lines in the nfl has a running back with more than 200 yards rushing in the 4th game is the problem?????????????.

Grade: B- (immobile top 2 hurt the group, until Trubisky starts, then A) Running backs (4): Tarik Cohen, Benny Cunningham, Jordan Howard, Taquan Mizzell . Grade: A- (I like this group, good mix of skills, Cohen the wild card) Fullbacks (1): Michael Burton. Grade: C+ (meh, zone blocking uses one) Receivers (6): Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson, Markus Wheaton, Kevin White, Kendall Wright, Tre McBride. Grade: D- (w/o Meredith we have no true #1 unless White steps up and performs like his draft status) Tight ends (4): Daniel Brown, Zach Miller, Adam Shaheen, Dion Sims. Grade: B+ (Decent versa…

Goff & Wentz officially off the board @ 1 & 2, respectively. I think something crazy happens and we end up with Bosa or Lynch. Realistically, I think we'll take the Dlineman from Louisville.
