  2. BRIGGS DOESN’T GET WHY BEARS TRADED JONES Posted by Michael David Smith on September 5, 2008, 1:47 p.m. Early in 2007, the Bears decided that Cedric Benson was their running back of the future and shipped Thomas Jones off to the Jets. Putting their faith in Benson was obviously a mistake on the part of the Bears’ front office, and some Bears players still haven’t forgotten it, more than a year later. “Honestly, more than I am frustrated that Cedric Benson didn’t pan out here, I am more frustrated that a guy like Thomas Jones, who was our best offensive weapon for the years that he was here, was traded and let go,” Bears linebacker Lance Briggs told a Chicag…

Nice long bomb. Wouldn't it be funny if he has a a lot of success as a jet and the Packers who came close to a super bowl appearance struggles all year with Rodgers at QB. I say it's about time the Packers realize what the rest of the league deals with when trying to find that QB. Flipping back and fourth between the Falcon/Lions game and the Jets game. Detroit getting owned by a crapy Atlanta team. I should have picked Atlanta as my margin pool pick. Who'da thunk it? LOL

I'm thinking of signing up for NFL Field Pass so I can listen to the Bears broadcast call rather than the idiots that normally call the games. I do have a program that can record audio from an application so the thought came to mind to record the games and replace the audio with the Bears announcers. Would make for a cool option on a DVD to select either the original broadcast audio or the Bears call. I can usually get the broadcast on the radio but the signal comes and goes. Has anyone here had it in the past, has it this year and has an opinion on whether it's worth it or not?

I love Bill Simmons, find him funny as hell, and agree with everything he says below about the Bears. This was from "12 NFL predictions" page at ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/080904 "Prediction No. 3: Everyone will hail Chicago's yearly attempt to breathe life into a passing game that hasn't shown life since the Willie Gault era. "Wait a second," you're saying, "didn't they let Bernard Berrian and Muhsin Muhammad leave? And didn't they just have a Kyle Orton/Rex Grossman battle for the starting QB spot? And didn't they just make a kick returner their No. 1 receiver? How are these good things?" OK, let's say you just bought a …

How well the Bears answer five key questions will determine how many games they win in 2008: 1.Can they create turnovers the way Lovie Smith teams typically do? Defensive coordinator Bob Babich calls it the " AT&T'' approach -- attack, tackle and takeaway. But lately the Bears cannot find a good connection with the way they like to play defense. Their defense created only 13 of their 33 takeaways in the first half of last season and by then it was too late to recover. Overall, that was 11 fewer takeaways than 2007. Smith's teams need turnovers to win; he is 21-5 when winning the turnover battle since taking over in 2004. When the Bears have fewer takeaw…

I love football and there is nothing better than opening day. Hope springs eternal and all the work from the team and all of our bullshit from the board will come to light. But, remember one thing boys... This game is winnable! So grab your favorite beverage, cook your favorite meat on the grill and get ready to support your team. This is the day that we will find out what our team and staff are all about. It's gameday! Go Bears! No prisoners!!!

In order for the Bears to win they have to attack the Colts right. It starts with the offense. Being that the Colts run basically the same type of defense that we do they are built for speed. We have to run at the smaller DE Mathis side. We have to use screens to counter their speed rushers. Our TE"s (Olsen & Davis)need to be used to create mismatches against the samller Colts LB'S and DB'S. Do not just line up and try to run up the middle. As for our WR'S we have speed on our side and need to use it with Hester,Davis and Bradley......don't know how fast Bennet & Lloyd are. On defense we have to take advantage of the Colts missing three starters in the middl…

Seems like no matter what topic I read here, I read something about cutting Marty Booker? I just don't get it. The guy set almost every receiving record in Chicago Bears history in the time he was here. He's back now. No, he didn't light up the league while he was in Miami. He did probably match about what any receiver had did here though during that time with comparable QB''n. If the Bears were going to cut underachieving veterans based on preseason games, then basically the whole famed Bears defense would be cut. It was out of the coaches mouth that his roster spot was safe. They had what, like 8 more receivers they had to evaluate this offseason. He didn't play i…

Watching NFL Network this morning they are saying that W Anderson will be signing on with the Baltimore Ravens. No news yet on the Fred Miller option.

In one spot I have Ryan Grant (who will probably suck against the Vikings, but I'll go with him anyway) In the other spot I have to choose between: Ricky Williams Senior (I'd planned to start him until Miami hinted Brown may get more carries) DeAngelo Williams Fred Taylor Ahman Green Kenny Watson Thankfully I'm loaded at WR.

Like many I have the Bears Official Website as one of my Home Pages, the primary (have Vista ;-() I was amazed at the change in the site. For years visiting other sites I always felt the Bears site was very "low tech" compared to some others. Now, all I can say is WOW. They have done a great job of improving the site.

Dante Culpepper sent out notice that he will be retiring from football. For those who wanted him as a badckup for the Bears, FORGET IT! LOL
