Heading into the season, I think even Orton supporters had fairly low expectations. Well, a look at the numbers is a bit surprising. Orton has 198 passes, which ranks him 6th in the league. Far higher than I think most would have expected. Orton has a completion % of 61.6%, which is not great, but very solid. Even better, IMHO, is that he has been over 60% in 4 of his 6 games, and a 5th was 59.4%. He has 1,386 yards passing, which ranks him 8th in the league. He is a nice kid, says the right things, isn't overly cocky or arrogant, and has played pretty damn well considering the circumstances (Fox/Loggains era). Ok now that the man will be free today.....the question is do we make a run to sign him once the lockout is over? IMO I would try in a heartbeat. He will be a perfect fit for the bears passing game and someone cutler can throw to. I like our WR's , but I say this all the time...with the tallest being 6'0 they are just too small to do real damage. I don't care if the Colts suck on defense. Howard is the real deal. Strong runner, great vision, good cut-back ability, forward lean, fast enough to get to the second level and exploit a hole for big gain, solid pass-catcher out of the backfield. I really like this kid.

There may be those looking at the give and take between Nfoligno and me thinking we hate each other. I suggest you read between the lines. Just wondering if anyone knows what the hold up might be concerning John Fox? The day he walked away from Denver the connection to the Bears was made instantly. He wants to be here, we want him here, word is Bears are all in, he interviewed Wed and here it is Friday and only rumors that say it's pretty much a done deal. Puka on IR, Kupp going to be limited at best if he doesn't miss the game. Rams playing in the late slot on Sunday, then having to travel from LA to CHI. So Bears are going to have a rest edge. Rams are one of the worst teams in the NFL, especially with the injuries. The Bears lost against the Colts, but the Colts didn't win the game. At 1-2, this becomes an early must win as falling to 1-3 starts makes a huge hole to dig out of so early in the season. I feel like the Bears will rebound and play much better with home cooking. I never would've thought that the Bears had a chance to be in a tie for the NFC with a win in this game, but here we are. I don't think they will win, probably a 7-10 pt loss, but I don't think they will get blown out. My first thought is something like 27-20 or 27-17, but if they get some players back from injury, the defense may look a lot different, and it will need to be against Barkley and PHI's offense. PHI has lost to NYG, and one score wins against MIN, GB, and DET in the last 6 weeks, so anything is possible. It will probably come down to turnovers and penalties. Since it is in PHI, they will have the edge with the officials for sure.

I think it was slightly above average with a few intriguing players. We could potentially see 4 impact players or as low as 1. I really don't count on the 6th or 7th rounders to do much other than provide depth or PS material.
