I GMed the NFLfans Mock Draft this past weekend for the Bears over on www.nflfans.com, so I thought I'd let people know how things went (spoiler alert: BEST DRAFT EVER!). Ok, not really. But considering the holes the Bears have and the guys I got, I think this would really help the talent base on the team in some key places and hopefully put the Bears in position to get back to the top of the division where they belong. I should specify that. Watching NFL Today, or whatever the ESPN show, Dilfer and Shlerif (however you spell it) just blasted the bears. Basically said the bears have too many holes to give up so much. What cracked me up was, Dilfer said Detroit was the biggest loser, saying they should have made the trade. Like Detroit doesn't have holes? Seems a bit of a contradiction. Seriously, though, what irrated me as much as anything was the way they talked about it. - Pointed out the Bears lost both starting OTs. I believe we really don't need to see either Walker or Harris play the rest of the yr. I would rather see Izzy, Kennedy, and the 2 new tackles get the reps to see what we have from them for next yr. Hell, on passing downs put Alex in the middle as we have done in the past. Peace

So if all things were equal, and you could choose one player at #14, who is it and why? Which Offensive Lineman fits the Bears the best? Would RB or WR be the best choice? Who is the best available at #14? I understand that ALL of them would not be available at #14, but more than likely a combination of them will be.

If it was me I would have taken the one year deal....got on the field and played 'lights out" and made them resign me again earning the money!!!!

All of you know my thoughts on who is to blame for the collapse of our defense. That being said, I also called for Babich to be the scapegoat. From everything I have been reading, it is looking as if he is staying as DC. Is this Jauron/Shoop all over again? Seriously, WTF is going on? Are they so clueless to think firing the DB coach is going fix the shit we saw on the field? Are they secretly giving the power to Marinelli to save face? Thoughts...

Since I wasn't able to post this yesterday, the newest Bears Fan arrived yesterday. Patrick Ormond weighed in at 6lbs 7 oz. Today is my first sons birthday, as is mine. Looks like December just got more expensive! LOL!

I went to a KFFL article to check out the 2009 FA Class Article and found some interesting names on the list. In regards to free agent WRs that might be available (some may have already signed extensions since this article was put up or may sign before the FA period begins): TJH from CIN I think is a true #1 WR who could start as a #1 on any team in the NFL. However, I am sure he will be well sought after and very expensive. I wonder if the Bears would persue him? OL was again a weakness on the Bears last season. With the recent announcement that Tait may be retiring, the OL will be rendered weaker than it was last season. Looking into the depth of our OL, tackle is the glaring need; with the most important tackle being the left. Tait provided insurance in the instance St. Clair and/or Williams failed. IMO - St Clair was borderline at best. I don't have a direct source, but I think I remember reading that he gave up the most sacks in the NFL last season. What have the reactions from the player been like?

According to Brad Biggs on his Twitter account, he is out. Apparently, veteran FB Jason McKie wasn't going to be a fit in the new Martz scheme. The #Bears have released him per @vxmcclure23.

Who can be cut without detriment to the team? I don't give a damn if it's half the team, to be quite honest. I think Jared Allen is untouchable because of the money, but who else falls into that boat? The only players on defense who I want kept are cheap, good, or financial obligations. But I don't have a real interest in any except Jennings, Peanut, Fuller, Jones, Jennings, Young, and Paea.

Bears 8-3 at Giants 3-8 Based on DVOA, the Bears are 12th on offense and 1st on defense. The Giants have the 18th ranked offense and 28th ranked defense. The Giants got off to an awful 1-7 start but have played much better after their bye going 2-1. They just lost to the Eagles 25-22, after winning two straight against TB and SF. 10 of their games have been decided by a TD or less. The key is going to be stopping Barkley, who makes up most of their offense. He commonly is the leading rusher and receiver on the team. There's lots of bellowing about fixing the quarterback position. What bugs the hell out of me is that it's easy as hell to say, but not easy to fix. At LEAST 2/3's of the teams in the NFL are unhappy with their quarterback situation. (If not more) and the teams who are happy sure as hell ain't giving them up. How many teams would like to have Kyle Orton? At least two teams in our division would. For the sake of argument, I'm going to take Angelo at his word that he wants to solidify the QB situation. This is what will have to happen for the Bears to make the playoffs this year: Bears must win out. Minnesota, Arizona, Detroit, and Washington must lose two of their next three games. Most of them plays at least two teams that can beat them. Arizona has an easier schedule, but didn't look so hot today. Carolina must lose one game.
