Here are some interesting nuggets out of today's note: Jennings going to Nickel on passing downs: Williams looking good: Can our receiving corps get any better: SMC: Bostic: All that time on South Beach is paying off: http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...from-bears-otas http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/05/27/hog...-as-nickelback/

Clearly cutler has the tools, and more natural talent than Kyle Orton. Fine. But bringing him into this situation, namely a mediocre to poor defense with no secondary whatsoever, and no personnel movements made to shore up the secondary, and the most predictable offense in the leauge, was doomed from the start. While everyone was overcome with man-crushes on Cutler, I found myself wondering: is he going to play cornerback? Orton and offense were the BRIGHT spot last year, ie the Falcons game, the Carolina game, the Bucs game, all of which the defense gave up leads at the end. Of all the parties involved, Cutler has gotten the worst deal career wise. He may walk away…

Tonight will be even more exciting as a new Bears team is morphing with talent that we have missed out on for many years by giving away the tokens needed to build a long term winning team. Excellent start for our offense. Better protection for the QB. Forte looks ok. Orton is on target.

I remember a few years back, most likely on the other board, a lot of people were saying (me included) that the Bears are trying to model themselves after the New England Patriots. This was brought up because the Bears weren't targeting big name FA's. The Patriots were winning Superbowls left and right, built there team through the draft, plugged holes with either mid level FA's or older vets that wanted to come for a shot at a title. When one of their players became a nuisance about getting more money, they let that player go. Now after thinking about that thread, I look at what the Patriots have been doing the last two years. It seems like they have flipped t…

I didn't see it happen. Drove us down to go ahead and then drove us down to win it with 2:27 left.

I'm hearing a lot of chatter about Albert moving up into the top 10 on draft boards. If this happens it should mean we're able to draft one of the top 3 LT. If Albert is still there for us at 14 it sounds more and more like that's a solid pick for us too.

Jay Cutler is better than any free agent quarterback. The problem is he sucks and everybody hates him. So we could overpay for Mike Glennon. We can resign Brian Hoyer. There are a bunch of other mediocre QB's available--none of which would be an upgrade. If we take a guy at #3--it will be a reach and they won't be ready to play effectively this season. If we take a guy in the 2nd round--it'd be an even bigger project. We will likely do some combination of signing a bad QB and drafting a bad QB. Either way, for the immediate future, we are screwed at QB.

LET'S GO! The Bears had the lead against the 49ers last year before the defense shit the bed. The Bears offense was completely broken last year and Fields still had a great game with some insane runs. The Bears lost 33-22 (Santos missed a PAT). With the new scheme and players, it is hard not to be optimistic because Nagy was that bad. I feel like the Bears offense will score more than 22, and the defense won't allow over 30 again. For my prediction, I am going with Bears 27 - 20. Fields, 65% comp, 285 yds passing, 60 rushing, 2 TDs passes, 0 INT, 0 fumbles, 2 sacks. Kmet and Blasingame with TD receptions Monty with rushing TD Bears win turnover b…

The 11-4 Bears travel to SF to take on the current 10-4 49ers. A primetime matchup of two teams that earned a playoff berth with Detroit crapping their pants. McCaffrey accounts for 23.6% of the targets, and has 10 games with over 105 scrimmage yards. He accounts for 34.8% of the 49ers yards from scrimmage. The Bears have to figure out a way to contain him, especially in the passing game. Surprisingly, he has been mediocre running the ball this year with his lowest career YPC at 3.6. He has a -31.0 Rush EPA, which puts him in the bottom 10 of the league in that category. SF will be coming off playing in Indy on MNF. 2 fewer days rest than the Bears with the Bear…

According to Brad Biggs on his Twitter account, he is out. Apparently, veteran FB Jason McKie wasn't going to be a fit in the new Martz scheme. The #Bears have released him per @vxmcclure23.

What better way to cleanse yourself from a bad loss with another loss? The best part, the Bears will have 10 days to talk about this loss until their next loss. I don't see any way this team magically rebounds after that loss, not with only walk-thrus this week. On a short week with a good portion of the secondary still out, the Commanders have a great receiving corps with McLaurin, Samuel, and Dotson, all over 100 yards receiving. Brian Robinson has also been great on the ground with 261 yds (Herbert has 196). The x-factor is Sam Howell. He has 4 TDs and 5 INTs. That's it though. If things don't change, especially on defense, this is another loss, drop to…
