If there's going to be a "who are you" thread for the people from BearsTalk to ID themselves, then as one of the mods here, I'd like to add this thread as a place for everyone to say hello. Welcome to this way of organizing the words "Bears" and "Talk"! I'm one of the guys who came over from Soxtalk when this board was created, and it'll certainly be nice to have some new minds around here to pick!

The Bears currently have eight picks in the 2008 draft, one in each of the seven rounds plus an additional third-round selection they obtained in a draft-day trade with the San Diego Chargers last year. The Bears dealt their fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for defensive tackle Darwin Walker, but regained a fifth-round pick from the Carolina Panthers in a deal for safety Chris Harris. Trestmen talked today and said he has spoken with hester but only in a "get to know" type talk. He also said he spoke with Url for 30-40 mins and Url mentioned that he wants to return. Him and tucker also confirmed that we will stick with 4-3 base defens. Good move IMO

This one could be another stinker. NE is actually the top defense the Bears will have faced yet. Then next week, the Bears get a better defense to play against in DAL. So Fields may be out or injured by Week 9 unless they fix this O-Line and protection. The Bears are known for making unknown QBs look good, so I expect a 300-yd, 2 TD game from Bailey Zappe while Fields stays on average for 190 yds passing on 15-24 passing, 1 TD, 1 INT, 5 sacks, 1 fumble, 55 rushing yards. So much for no OC will want to work under a HC who might be on a hot seat. The Bears have 4 good names to interview. They all run a scheme similiar to what the Bears ran under Getsy. This tells me they do not want the team to go through another learning curve and it also helps JF case on being QB1 next year. What was feeling like 60 stay/40 out is not hovering 75 stay/25 out. I've been checking out some mock drafts. I saw a couple where they had us taking OT from Boston College. At beginning of the season, I would of been all for it. The Bears really need interior help now. Olin has been a great Bear, but he costs us too many 1st downs with stupid penalties. I wouldn't draft an interior lineman in 1st round either. Give Webb a full off season and he will not be weak link on the passing downs. Frank may not be the sexy name the fans want, but he has done a he'll of a job. Don't see the need to draft an OT that high. If anything, we need not notch cb to replace Peanut in a couple yrs.

Well here we are, the big trial, Preseason game 3, where the starters play the longest. Roy Williams...catch footballs when they're thrown your way. Offensive Line...Jay Cutler is not to be touched. Secondary...Tackle better. Everyone else...Stay Healthy!

Apparently the Bears scheduled a meeting with Ashton Jeanty right out of the gate. Some may read this to mean that we are very interested in drafting him, and we probably are. Doesn't mean we would pick him over other players we'd also be interested in drafting at that spot. But I also take it to mean that it increases the idea of someone trading up to get him if he is on the board when our pick comes, seeing that we have interest.

GMs, I have renewed our annual TalkBears Fantasy Football Keeper league, which is now entering its 16th season. We need at least one new GM for this upcoming season. There may be more openings if we don't get commitments in time for the draft. Once we get the confirmations, we can schedule the draft for late August and I can send out the LeagueSafe payment dues ($75 per team). The winning payouts are as follows: 1st - $440 2nd - $200 3rd - $75 4th - $35 The payment deadline is usually Week 4, so people have some time to pay the dues.
